Besides keeping overseas friends updated about my news, this page hopes to encourage others along the journey we are all on. Looking back, it is surely testament to God's amazing Grace and Faithfulness. Looking ahead, we press on towards the goal, learning what it means to love each other, and not waste our lives.

Agapella's busy weekend
We're now in the middle of Agapella's busy weekend as we had a gig last night, and we're involved in tomorrow's Global Day of Prayer at the National Stadium. Last night went well, i thought.. Our first 'proper' live performance in a while - much different from recording, and definitely very enjoyable to be able to sing together, with an audience. Tomorrow, as we gather with people from various churches and raise our voices in song and in prayer, may we remember that we are singing to an audience of one. I really think the song Hallelujah to the Lamb is such an amazing, majestic picture of the scene in Revelation when people from all countries gather to worship the One True God! Will see a tiny glimpse of that tomorrow ;)

The theology of work
Well this is not meant to be a thesis or anything, but i was just reflecting on how we spend about half our waking hours at work (perhaps more than half, in Singapore) and thinking about Eric’s survey of how many people actually enjoy their jobs.. Maybe i’m too idealistic, or i have a biased point of view, with friends who are artists and foodwriters, pursuing their passion in their occupations, but i do believe a job is more than how one pays the bills or earns enough to afford the holidays. It really should be something we find worthwhile and meaningful, and where God has placed us so we can serve Him. So in a sense, when i find i am no longer in that place, perhaps it’s time to move on. …But of course, we are not all that fortunate to be able to love what we do each day from 9 to 5, or have the luxury of moving on whenever we feel like the time is right. So perhaps what matters most is that we make the best of the situation that we are in, and use the opportunities that are before us :)

There’s a lot of talk about learning and ability to learn in the office.. I suppose we’re agreed that that’s the most important factor when ‘training’ new people to do a particular job. I happen to be quite a firm advocate of the notion of innate ability, being of the view that we all have our own strengths and weaknesses in different areas that have been ingrained since young. On the other hand, i’m sure that attitude towards improvement and willingness to try do play a part in overcoming these weaknesses to some extent. So i suppose my conclusion to the matter is, that i have to want to change my attitude before anything else can happen, which brings to mind the Proverb about the wise man heeding instruction, as compared to the fool, who scorns correction.
