Graduated!! =)

Thank you to all who came to take photos for graduation :) I really enjoyed my Perth trip.. a fitting closure to my term there. It was a relaxing trip, and wonderful to be able to catch up with friends, sit in an OCF Bible Study, tune into Sonshine FM, plus worship at Subi again!

Here are some of the graduation photos - with the OCF-ers, my coursemates, and lecturers. And a photo taken at Hog's Breath with Karen and Soon Jin :)

A quiet day at the office

Expected to be real productive today, what with no other bodies to disturb me and a full free day for clearing reports.. Results were: Marginally fruitful, but not up to my high hopes :P Sounds quite typical huh.. Not wanting to pick up another case file, but instead reflecting on my job again, i wonder. What difference am i actually making in the lives of these children and parents that i see just once off, churn out a report, then hand them over to the next professional... Where's the opportunity to build up relationships in that? There are many things i like about my job (which i was mulling over before deciding to re-join my company) - the work environment, the aims and vision of the organisation, having extremely capable and truly professional colleagues who have since become friends... I do think we are helping the kids who come to us (well, most of them..), and we are kept busy - almost like fire-fighting lately. But surely there's more that can be done. I guess i am asking: Are we making the most of the resources we have for the greatest benefit of the most people? Hm, definitely not a question that can be answered in a short time :P

Anyway, leaving office now...

...This time next week, i'll be in Perth!! :O)

Engagement 3.3.07

It was a lovely service and evening with family and some dear friends - the first engagement i've attended myself ;) So special to be able to exchange the rings with so many dear ones as witnesses. Although we didn't play any ice-breakers or anything ;O), it was nice for both sides of the family to meet before August! Besides the joyous singing and short ceremony, was real privileged to have my Grandpa give a (really short) exhortation but great reminder that the best relationship is one motivated by love, not obligation - in a marriage, as well as in our relationship with God. Engagement surely has clear spiritual significance, whether one has a 'formal' service to commemorate it or not :)

Even though it was just a simple affair, really appreciate those who lent a helping hand for the special occasion - Agapella, Shem, Cheryl and Dan (soon-to-be bridesmaid and best man!), and everyone who made time to be there.. Also thanks so much to Simon for the lovely logo he designed using the computer, which Stan used on our song-sheet, and which might hopefully be on the wedding invite! Now we eagerly await the wedding and marriage to come. May we prepare wisely and carefully, with the Lord guiding each step of the way :)
