Day 6

First Day at EFY...and it was so great! After I woke up, went to the gym, and had some breakfast, things got boring. So I introduced Danny to the Wii, where he started to play some Super Mario Brothers, and it was HILARIOUS! I opted not to play the game because I never played it before, but him and Angie were dying all over the place, and it just made me laugh. Since we didn't hafta be to the institute until noon-ish, we Danny offered to feed us lunch, YES! He is a super awesome amateur chef, and aspires to one day open a restaurant. He made us some Fettuccine Alfredo, and it was delicious, he can come cook for me any day. We then left, and we had to wait in line for a little while, but we finally got there. The three Schwendiman's went up to the table for our name tags, to find out that there's actually FOUR Schwendiman's! NO WAY! I made it my goal to find out who this "Justin Schwendiman" was and why had I never heard of him before. We then finished through the line, got our picture taken, and approached the shirt table when we were greeted by the Session Director, BROTHER HILTON! He was a Seminary teacher at Hillcrest, and I never had him, but I heard great things about him. We had some pretty intense discussions, we became best friends! After sitting out on the front lawn for a while, we finally got to meet our groups, and mine was pretty great. Cute Gina was the counselor, and I was put into a group with 15 other great Young Women, and I got to know all of their names right there on the first day. I was also super surprised when we met the boys of our company, Danny was in my group! I got to share most of my experiences with him, which made everything super great. The FHE games that evening were intense, but the Devotional and the Goal Setting were both very enlightening! I love the personal study time they give us, and this was the view that I got this evening! It makes me feel so much closer to God, maybe I'll set a goal to do my scripture study outside this Summer. Afterwards, Oliva and her friend came over and we played Apples to Apples, very fun!
Day 7

Today seemed like the most uneventful day of the week, and it might have been because me and Angie got permission to leave to attend our class, so I missed two of the classes at the institute. The two classes I was able to go to were way good. Brother Smith introduced his with a story about when he was an EFY counselor, and this girl came up to him and this girl, crying because she had thrown away her retainer. He then went through all the garbage for a session at BYU until he finally found it, and he will forever be disgusted by KFC chicken. What makes it even more funny, is that evening at dinner, Danny and a couple other boys got to look through the garbage to find a lost retainer :P. There was also a dance today! Nothing too exciting happened, I did get to dance with two boys [that's two more than last year!] and I got reintroduced to some of the line dances. Today I got to make a lot of good friends too. Like Chanté [yes there's an accent in her name...isn't that the coolest!] I love this girl, we had quite exciting moments, and we took a challenge to be optimistic all week, we'll see how it turns out.
Day 8

Game Day. I love this day. We had some more classes that were brilliant, and I can use some of the stories and such for my camp lessons! When it came time to make the flag and create the cheer, I just kinda stood there. That's okay tho! Myself, Chanté, Ambree, and Stefanie called it "tanning" [I actually have a really nice farmers tan, possibly from this moment]. The games were great, and we actually won a few! These same four girls were a group in the game called "The Word", where we would make a letter using our bodies, and we were the fastest group there. We inspired everyone else to be fast. When we finally had to present our cheer, it fell apart, and I am very glad we didn't have to present it again. We did take first place with our flag! It was pretty amazing!
BTW: today, was my half birthday...I'm officially closer to 18!
Day 9

Today was quite an eventful day. After YM/YW activites [which I had to miss for school again], there was the variety show, and it was SUPER FUN! We had a TON of people from Day and Night perform; cute Makelle did some fiddiling, and Jonathan showed some amazing singing talent. I also got to see the Robert's boys comedy act again, quite amusing. The Musical Program was next. I have never been in the musical program, and I don't know if I would like participating, because it is sooo good to watch. The video was powerful, and the voices just brought the spirit. Testimony meeting came next. It was just our little company, but we used up all the time we could. I am one of those people that never bear their testimony unless forced, even though I know I should [maybe I'll do it on here sometime] because I know it will be strengthened, but hearing everyone else's definitely added some knowledge. I am also one who never cries...but four seconds into Daniels testimony and my eyes started leaking. I knew that if he got up I would cry, he has just had so much growth this past week, it's really touched me. Luckily I can control my tears, so it was a silent cry...but I was definitely touched.
Taylor came over afterwards to play with me, and I realized just how awesome of a friend she is. I am so grateful for all the wonderful people in my life who would come play Mario kart with me at 10pm just to cheer me up. I love my friends, and I should do more stuff with them to show them that I care.
I didn't take many pictures today, because it was such a spiritual time, but I did get this great one of Kim. We talked all about boys today...am I the only one without boy trouble? It's not that big a deal, even Gina said she was just like me.
Day 10

Today was the last day of the entire week. It all went by so fast. There was the service activity today, and we were writing thank you letters! I was super grateful for this, because all day Thursday I was thinking about writing notes to all of the great girls in my group and then a super thoughtful one for people like the counselors and Brother Hilton. I didn't get to write ALL of these letters, but I got to write enough to satisfy these feelings. The FSOY Activity was fun, learned lots. After was the Pictures and name exchange, I have so many new friends! I love this week because I get to meet new people and have fun while building a testimony. The dance was last, and it was just another dance. The counselors did a freak out during Funkytown, and it was quite amusing. I will most definitely take what I learned home with me, and I will continue to feel the spirit in my life!
Thanks for such an awesome week everyone!
