Elder Adam Martin
Brazil São Paulo Oeste Mission 3-2014
Elder Adam Martin had
some big news for us about 1 month ago. It seems, they were needing
leaders in the new mission he is in (The Brazil Sao Paulo West Mission) and he
(and several other missionaries who had their missions cut by three weeks at the
front end due to the shortened MTC times) were asked to extend. He will
therefore be serving the full two years which makes him happy. His new
release date will now be March 11, 2014. He is happy about the chance to
stay. He writes, "This Mission started out with 84 missionaries and
has grown to 122. The next group is also a big one." Elder Martin is
training and is serving as a District Leader. He continues, "I am doing
great as always. I gave My first lesson in Inglish ever on the Mission. I
talked to a man in the front of his house that is from Denver. That was a
mission first. I spake and My companion just sat there. The problem is that the
closest English speaking Ward is in Alphaville ( SP- Norte) There is also the
Ferreira Ward (Our Mission Office) that has about 10 English speaking
families." In his last week letter Elder Adam reported,
"News... This sunday, after all the meetings, a man walked in to church
and wanted to get to know the church. As it turns out, he sat on the bus next
to a member from the Barunesa ward who was reading The Book of Mormon on
the bus. He got curious and she invited him to visit the church. He lives very
close to our chapel, although he forgot the time meeting started, he arrived in
time for us to show him the chapel. We noted his name and adress and we will
visit him on Wednsday. Saturday was Children´s Day here ( Dia das
Crianças). I feel like I was robbed as a child. It´s a holiday that doesn´t
exist is the USA. Then again, just about every week here has a holiday."
Happy Children's Day Elder Adam.
