Do you know what it feels like to be slogging your butt off without anyone knowing or claiming credit, and people thinking you did nothing at all? Do you know what it's like to be at the backstage, supporting the people on stage silently, yet when the crowd roars its applause, it's for the stage star, not the backstage star?

How can I know you for so long, yet not know you anymore now? Does anyone know how that feel? Do you?

The year is coming to a close, and it's time to sit back and reflect on the year of 2009.

But in short, I just have four things to share with people in my life.

To those I've hurt, I am truly apologetic and although I know I can never turn back time the way I can unhurt the wounds, nor can things turn back to the way they were. These are one of the biggest regrets I have, and if only I can express how much I want to make it up to you, I really would. Sorry might not mean anything now, but I just hope that things will get better for all of us.

To those who has hurt me, unintentionally or otherwise, be glad to know that you've helped shape me to who I am right now. Those words might sting at first, but slowly but surely, they made me a stronger person. To accept things that I can't change, and try to change those I can. So thank you for being brutally honest, and because of that, I am striving to change for the better.

To those who allowed me to bring laughter to your lives, I thank you for letting me share this magical experience with you. I know my lame jokes are very lame and my puns are very punny but deep down, the laughter that we share is innocence in its pure form. Bringing others joy is one of the happiest feelings that I will treasure forever.

To those who made me smile, be it a recollection of memories or viewing an old silly video on public transport, making me laugh out loud despite stares, thank you so much for sharing your magic with me. Without you guys, my life would be just a grey bleak patch, but your laughter, fun and jolliness coloured my world with bold splashes of colours.

Thank you for sticking by my side all the time, for listening to me rant, for the countless advice, patiently comforting me when I cried over the phone, for sharing with me your experiences.. It's countless. But I will always tuck them away in a snug corner of my heart, taking it out and reliving the moments again.

Last of all, thank you for being my friend and letting me be part of your life, like you let me be part of yours(:

Last night i was watching life transformers 2. They visited this family, and the living conditions were quite bad, with a torn and tattered sofa, fleas and lice all over the bedroom and blood stains on the bedsheets. Their kitchen only had one wash basin, which has to double up as a sink.

The father had heart disease, blocked arteries and others, while the mother had a slight mental illness due to untreated post-natal depression. They have an 11-year-old boy. The father does odd jobs, and due to his illness, not many are willing to offer him a job. The hello kitty stickers all around the house actually belongs to the mother.

The son was really very understanding towards his parents. He never asked for anything more than a football, which his parents cannot even afford. His dad once told him, "When i die, i want you to scatter my ashes into the sea." But his son replied, "No, i will keep it at home." His son got quite frightened after his dad told him that, and he didn't have friends in school to tell to, much less a role model in the house to guide him along. He has always faced his problems alone, silently, unwilling to bother his parents because his parents are already fraught with their own problems.

Mrs Low, the mother, said that she loves her husband alot. And although she has a mentality of a child, Mr Low still stuck by her and always give her kisses and cajoles her. The promise of love between them is so transparent, yet so strong.

When we love someone, we must accept the person with all the faults. Is love blind? No, love is all about knowing to love the person, the whole package. It really makes you wonder if you can find someone you can truly spend all eternity with, and to love wholeheartedly come what may.

"Love is simple. Love doesn't complain."

I think this is something that we all need to constantly remind ourselves. Appreciate the ones you love most, because they won't be there forever.

Today's Physics class was HILARIOUS.

We were doing this question on parachuting, on how this female teacher would fall without a parachute, then the male teacher would fall and catch her and both will parachute to safety.

So the second part was on how they executed the 'break-fall' procedure. Well, it wasn't the push-turn-roll over, but they just bent their knees.

And we had an extensive discussion on parachuting and landing and dying and suicide.

If you don't bend your knees, you will end up several cm shorter. Then i commented on how at the funeral, the coffin will be very small. But miss poh said that if the body's bent, they will try to uncurl it, but if cannot then will put make up, plaster etcetc, which completely freaked michelle quek out, because she wanted to be an embalmer. LOL.

And apparently there was this girl who committed suicide. Landed face down. Somehow we we all laughing super hard because miss poh was like, "your whole face would disappear!" and that sometimes when we fall we may end up shorter, some people may be taller when they break their neck etcetc. GROSS RIGHT.

yeah and i was saying like what if some people raise their hands, then the body harden, then cannot fold back already, the coffin will be super freaking long.. imagine when you open the coffin then you see a person whose arms are upright! freakyyy.

and miss poh said that if you land on trees (if you fall) you may actually survive! but the pointy tip of the tree may kill you. but i thought she said trees like pine tree with triangle top.. imagine falling on a christmas tree!! ewww hahahah.

oh she told us about last time NDP, like in the 80s, they didnt know how to land and all that. so many ended up on rooftops, bad landing etcetc. imagine if you land on the antennae thingy on the roof! OUCH to the max O: and some people land in the drain.. end up shorter.. etcetc.

which reminds me :/ thank goodness this is 21st century airborne. LOL. this is probably why SBAB put drain covers.. so idiots like me won't land inside them.

i wonder if those people who injured themselves are fully recovered.. hope they are!!

New Moon yesterday with Lava and Brin was A BLAST. Chloe bailed out on us, but hope everything's okay.

Okay so I was late. Lava was the only one waiting at the Far East bus stop (She chose that location cos her BUS stops there >_> and we wanted to go cineleisure. like abit no link right.) Brin claimed her bus was taking part in the amazing snail, and i was late cos i helped an old lady cross the road, pick up oranges for this woman and counselled a suicidal girl amongst others.

on the train ride there, the most EMBARRASSING thing happened. i was stoning, completely unaware of my surroundings. then the woman next to me started gesturing (to an old guy across the mrt) cos she wanted to give up her seat. then i felt abit paiseh.

but then, an INFLUX of old people waltzed in. i gave up my seat but NO ONE SAT IN MINE OKAY. i was standing in front of my seat feeling like an idiot. ahhhhh. but nvm i TRIED to do a good deed.

so we went pastamania. brin wanted to go koufu and i wanted too!!! but lava.. sigh. but we had alot of funny moments(:

wow hahaha haven't posted in so long.

spent the first day of december with the taiwan team, and it was pretty cool. we spent a full 90 minutes debating whether we should watch case 39 or mulan. but in the end we watched case 39 instead. it was under the genre "Drama". But it was freaky all the same.

It's not bad, but it's kinda lame i guess. There were definitely some scary moments, but some parts are like "er..what?" and "hmm..?" moments, but i was busy freaking out to care until after the show.

everytime there's silence, you KNOW there'd be a BOOM somewhere a few seconds later. everytime there's silence, me and miranda would start shifting closer to each other unknowingly. then suddenly, "KABOOM" and both of us crashed our heads against each other. TWICE okay.

and why are freaky young kids always girls with long black hair? Gosh i screamed really loud at one moment when the whole theatre was quiet. but it was dark so no one knew it was me :) (i think)

saw my airborne instructor the day we went to Miss Tan's house!! :) Super cool lah. he didn't recognise my face but he did recognise my name. LOL. but it was awesome seeing him again lah. he just ended training so he was walking around, trying to burn time before watching a movie. heh(: he gave me this awesome ndp patch. really really nice. yay :D

i'm really devastated that i can't go for 58th POP. sigh. it's like one of the most important event that i am really looking forward to. sucks. i miss all my ncc friends): haven't seen them since last year or something. ohwells. ):

they've definitely grown since the start of this year, and although there were still obvious social circles inside, it's nice to see them all close and stuff. really made me nostalgic about MY sec one year. sigh.

Today was Farewell.

GOSH tomorrow is Farewell Assembly. It sucks to have to graduate. Juniors you must be grateful for being in RGS, please treasure your every single moment, when you can walk into class and sit on the table and chair that belongs to you, to look down and see your nice blue pinafore.

It's funny to think how we all belong in the same world, living on the same Earth, seperated by physical boundaries.. yet people are seperated by so many other different things. Generation. Money. Water. Food. Basic necessities that are luxuries to them, taken for granted by others.

Funny how people are suffering from malnutrition while others deprive themselves of food. by choice. what about those people suffering from obesity due to them eating too much? Why can't they share it with the people who are dying in other parts of the world? Is that really too much to ask for?

I really don't understand. Maybe i never will. But people who can't differentiate between necessity and extravagance should.

Social Studies trip was a riot.

We even went into Seletar Airbase, and i remembered the SYFC young aviator course conducted by NCC. And i realised (once again) how very very lucky I had been to have chosen NCC Air as a CCA.

(disclaimer: i am not trying to advertise for ncc air here)

Through NCC, I've attended some 10 courses, maybe more, awarded 9 badges or so (can't rmbr), and been able to enter some places where others can only dream of going. Like the simulation rooms of SYFC, riding a piper warrior (of which the pilot decided to let julie steer, and huiyi and me dying of fright at the back due to her crazy steering), maybe into the hangar of military aircrafts, joining one of the top soldiers of Singapore for training, sitting inside a military cargo helicopter then jumping off it a few years later.. There are just so, so many things that are a privilege for us air cadets.

Really, the courses make up a big part of NCC. I don't think it's so much of what the course is about, but rather the self discovery through that journey. You realise that no matter how many awards you win or do not win, it doesn't matter in the end. it's just a piece of polished dead tree with a slab of metal and some letters on it. but the journey of which you get it doesn't include just yourself but the friends who have helped you attain it.

I really miss NCC. I can't imagine what a terror we had been when we were Part As, recruits, and abit of a dumbdumb. but now, watching all these people grow into strong leaders, and i wonder if i'll ever watch the juniors do the same.

Really wish i can turn back time. Maybe i'll appreciate things a little more.

oh hm me and renci were talking the other day, about her raffles team 2 and hillary challenge. we were talking about comradeship, about how this mysterious thing really binds everyone together.

which reminds me of airborne. i was really honoured to be able to train with the commandos.. they exude a kind of comradeship and care for brothers that i've never felt before. okay, granted, they f each other and whack each other with the helmets for fun. but marching with them, training with them, i really felt that "brotherhood". such a great honour to be marching with them and hearing them shout with gusto "singapore commandos number one" (:

i'm doing a lousy job describing it. but if you feel it it's something that can never be replaced. and they really care for one another. like they will always ask me whether i'm okay and if anyone bullies me and they'll take care of it.

so i've decided, when i choose a cca in JC, it won't be an individual cca, like those whereby you compete by yourself and not for teamwork. i mean, what's the point of winning if you have no one to share your award with?

but then again maybe it's just me.

Yesterday was POP (Principles of Photonics) and me and renc were sitting beside the piano. then we were just talking when her junior grace came along.

YAY I FINALLY MANAGED TO MASTER THE ART OF KEEPING MY WOUND DRY WHILE BATHING.

like seriously it takes some imba coordination and a strong core to keep balance. heheh. i think i should teach a new form of yoga.. and it's so useful(:

dinner with extended family on sunday! was at some shark's fin restaurant. my mom ordered shark's fin even though i told her so many times we shouldn't DD: but anyway i know it's too soon to decide but if i have my wedding at a chinese restaurant i won't serve shark's fin.

oh and my dad and i came up with this brilliant idea. since people only eat shark's fin but don't eat other parts right, we can come up with a store just like bak kut teh. except we serve shark's fin teh. menu includes:

1. shark skin
2. shark intestine
3. shark meat
4. shark kidney (do they have kidneys? not sure)
5. shark liver (ditto #4)
6. shark mystery meat surprise (includes all the other mysterious bits inside the sharks)

and the sharks used will only be the poor sharks whose fins were sliced off. ohwells we were being retarded.

netball carn! we did awesome. like even though we didn't win overall (except shooting: 2nd!!!) but we had alot of fun and the excitement was really really to the max. although i couldn't play (stupid knee-- now i find bruises all over it) but when renci/arthi shot the final goal i was super super happy until i wanna burst! :D i was on the verge of tears. poor players sustained alot alot of injuries ): and cheer team was enthu yayy.

lava has this weird thing for the phantom of the opera. like really she warbles out "the PHANTOMMMM of the operaaaa is hereeeeee" like super loudly. IN FRONT OF SEC 3S. poor kids have to go into therapy until they're 80. but nvm i love her for all the flaws she has so i'll stuff my fingers into my ears and smile at her :)

(btw she has a secret crush on mr ali. heheh)

oh and my 19 year old cousin has a 30 year old gf. someone please tell me how to tell him to wake up? it's too much like a k-drama for my liking.

I never thought I'd fall. The fear of falling was never on my mind. Until the moment it happened, the blood, the pain, the gasps-- that was when i realise that I had taken things for granted. I guess i was luckily it was a clean fall and not a slide across the courts.

Thanks to renc cuier lava for taking care of my wound.

Cuier and Lava went with me to the general office and the lady suggested i put iodine. "it might hurt," she said. i said, sure, go on, it'd heal faster.

(and lava was playing with the cotton bud head, rolling it between her fingers absentmindedly while going, "don't worry, this cotten bud will help clean the wound..")

so we went outside the GO because
1) i don't want to stain the white couch
2) there's a secuity camera inside (you'll realise why later)
3) the lady ddn't want me to scream in the GO. which was good advice.

So I took the cotton bud and carefully put at one corner. it didn't hurt. one FULL second later the pain kicked in and i grabbed lava, cuier grabbed the cotton bud and quickly applied iodine for me. i was holding on to lava, practically twisting her arm off, and whacking her like crazy. lava seemed to be in more pain than me. so so so sorry. i really appreciate everything, thank you two SO MUCH.

There are other occasions when i chose not to put iodine because i was afraid it would hurt. i know that when you fall, you might tend to blame the people that had tripped you, but i didn't. because i knew what was the real reason: i was a coward.

i did not dare to apply iodine. although i KNEW it would hurt alot alot alot, it would be better. but still i didn't.i talked to the others about putting the iodine, but still, i didn't. silly of me.

I was afraid of the initial sharp pain like someone was rubbing little stones against it. and worse still, at that time i didn't have any Lava to let me hold on to while i cried out in pain. or a Cui Er to continue putting iodine while i kept telling her to stop. (okay i was practically begging her to stop. lucily she didn't heed my words)

And i regretted not doing it. I don't know if i turned back time, i would have made the same decision, but that old wound got infected. it hurt more than if i had chosen to put iodine on it. now it burned and burned and i had no one to blame by myself.

she once told me "just bear with it, it'll be over soon, okay?" when i didn't agree to put iodine. i said okay i'll try.

and now, the wound still refuses to heal. it still hurts, it's getting worse and it will never be okay. it seemed so fresh as if it was new, and everytime i feel the sting, which is LOADS worse than the original pain. and it's too late to do anything about it anymore.

and then they added salt, bit by bit, grain by grain onto the wound;

things have been so.. different.

i wonder when things would go back. i miss the old times.

i miss her. the her i always thought i knew.

I realised.. Miss Jazilah smells like the science lab.

then YuJia snuck up to me after class and said that he is like an NCC CO! hahaha so i wasn't the only one lala.

apparently, the snake rising up and taking photograph in tamil sounds the same, so once her friend (some boss or something) told his friend that the snake was rising behind him then he was wondering why the snake was taking a photograph :D

don't know why it wasn't really that funny but i laughed all the way to subway :D

and in subway, we played the ezlink card game!! didn't even know such a game existed. super fun. lols.

and lava should just stop laughing at me for the isolated case whereby i said "RI" with a Jamaican accent.

i remember once we were talking about wanting to watch G-Force cos it's 3D and totally cute. so yes. guess what? no surprises, we started talking about what the little things are.

at lido, when we were leaving, there was this xbox 360 at the entrance. lava didn't want to leave, and she grabbed one of the controllers and tried to shoot the bad guy. you were supposed to shoot him from the behind. guess what? lava moved the chracter in FRONT of the bad guy. her (game character) back was facing the bad guy.

if you thought that was bad, oh no. it doesn't end here. it's lava, remember?

she used the gun and shot herself.

it started out as something so small, and it grew in quantity and quality, after years of nurturing, how can you say let it go just like that? it isn't easy to keep it going strong. but yet it's so easy to break it with the little things that nibble away at it, like a tiny mice going on and on at a thick rope.

i wish i can do something about it. i know you shouldn't control things that you can't control but try to control those you can, but i'm not sure if it's something i can control and change.

Chloe.. my eating buddy. oh oh i'll tell you something.. she actually hates eating corn!!!! omg. amazing right. HAHAH. guess what, today she saw someone who likes corn on the train heheh :D today she ironed her hair! so awesome. she should rebond it :D hahaha. and she also does the weird victory dance when she plays tennis.. THIS FRIDAY DON'T LET ME DOWN K! heheh. and YES stop stealing me/renci's tennis balls la super annoying. otherwise whack it so freaking hard it flies to the next court D< and she writes SO slowly on the bucher sheet that even the class clock which spoilt yesterday moves even faster than her laa. today we used her name as the group name and we wrote her name all over people's bucher sheets :D

i REALLY don't understand why you just STILL don't get what i'm trying to do.

ORD was yesterday. spent the whole of last night, thinking. about so many things.

i don't know, it didn't seem to be the night of celebration with the company. it felt so weird. so disappointing. so segregated. it would be hard not to want to turn back time to make things right again. watching the others cry because of mistakes i didn't help to prevent from happening.

didn't talk to the other parts much but i want to tell them not to cry. it's not all over yet. our hearts and minds are with ncc and it always will be with you guys.

reminiscing the old times with the platoon felt good. then the powder fight.. super funny. took many pictures as a platoon(: long time since we last did that(:

the part cs were really, really sweet. they prepared this little song for each of us, then a song for all of us, and gave us hand painted and assembled planes/helicopters, and threw confetti and balloons over us. so sweet right? i guess alot of us teared. but no tears cos we promised to smile(:

now it's time for the company to make a steady march towards one common goal, and we'll always be silently watching over you guys.

and sorry for screwing it up. again. sigh. i wanted the best, but the the outcome was not enough. not even half of what was enough. if only we could go back again.

dayna: the aircon is smoking!
me: it's not smoking. it's steaming.
dayna: STEAMING IS AT 100 DEGREES, STUPID.
me: yeah yeah genius smoking happens with a fire lah.
dayna: not necessary! when you light a cigarette there's smoke but no fire!

and arthi got touchy cos brintha was playing footsie with her during bio.

and one very very effective cure for hiccups is for your bio teacher to stand in front of you and say, "hope my presence can stop your hiccups. did you get scared? can you feel my aura?"

guess what? my hiccups stopped!

today was parade rehearsal again. wore the new boots which i bought in the mistaken thought that i lost my boots (found it behind the whiteboard much later). and those boots suck.

1) the absorb all the polish (no matter how you polish, it just eats it all)
2) it absorbs heat the way it absorbs polish (no regurgitation)
3) the heat is enough to fuse your toes together.

yes anyway anqi was having SO much fun with her new pacestick she kept whacking me in areas. so annoying.

and ahahahaha dayna the class model! so funny! she can't catwalk right :D

so lava, arthi and her decided to practise catwalking while i gave very constructive critisisms.

arthi: walks like a gangster. on second attempt, she walks like a hooligan with murderous eyes, probably in attempt to do the sexy eye thing. walks like a man, too. too wide strides.

lava: ditto sexy eye thing. except she looks like a paedophile wanting to eat up those poor kids. who is probably crying because they saw her. and her smile.. that smile of hers can stun people. literally. (especially children)

dayna: gives the baby smile and looks like Insectica from Monsters vs Aliens. Walking=bobbing on water. gives people a very sea sick feeling.

but ah well it'll be nice to laugh at all three of them on stage this friday :D hope we berhenti fast and i can rush back to watch them!
