Amazing

Last night was an amazing monsoon storm, I'm not a huge thunder/lightning person but I do love a great down pour of rain! Blake took these pictures when the lightning was non-stop and it seemed like it was almost daylight outside. There were a ton of problems around the city with trees, power poles and traffic lights down all over - broken windows, roofs of condos ripped off and tossed into the light rail tracks, and an 8 million dollar ASU football Practice Dome/Tent ripped to shreds and part of it blown into the street, lets not forget they have only used it for 1 month (bummer huh)! With winds up to 75mph, the storm was 100 miles long and 40 miles wide, you almost have to expect some damage.

Blake did this with Ashlyn too so don't be alarmed, I think it's a Powell tradition or something all the "dad's" do... I just love that Weston is staring right at Blake's face and sitting up so well! This is at 2.5 weeks old! I really trust my husband

Ashlyn loves her "Dora" sunglasses from grandma summers (Blakes grandma), she wears them ALL the time, usually upside down!! we love her cute personality

In Need of our Help

On August 16th an LDS couple were in a private plane crash, they have been severely burned and will be in recovery for months. They have 4 young children being taken care of by family and friends! This sweet couple will have medical bills miles long and will need all the help they can get, there is a donation button on the side of my blog if you feel you can donate and there is a link above that regarding there recovery (if you click on "About Nie" you can click on "cjane" at the bottom left and read updates on this family). I'm grateful that so many have reached out to the family of this couple and hope they continue to heal!

TWO weeks

Weston is already 2 weeks old and has gained a little weight thank goodness, here are his stats

weight - 7lbs 14oz
height - 20.5 inches

He's so fun to have around and is awake more and more everyday, Ashlyn still loves him and wants to see him right away when she wakes up in the morning! She is so concerned with every noise he makes and what he's doing (ex: eating, diaper change)! We are so excited to see what color his hair will be and his eyes... Weston also drank his first "breast milk" bottle this morning! I always like to try it out at 2 weeks to see how it goes, and then I might be able to go somewhere for longer than 2-3 hours without him! He was a champ and drank it all...

I attempted a french braid in Ashlyn's hair and it was alright for about an hour and then it just kept falling apart, I should have started it when her hair was wet and put product in it or something! It was fun to try something different...

*One of each Flavor*

So far things are still going well with the new addition and our first born! Ashlyn adores Weston and is always concerned if he cries... She always talks to him and says good morning and hello - she will walk over and tell me that Weston is cute and talk about his hands and feet! She is doing really well with this adjustment, her only "new" habit is to ask us to hold her! She just needs a little extra love and attention, which she deserves anyway. Weston is doing great with sleeping and eating, he loves his car seat and enjoys his pacifier which is nice! His 2 week check up is on Friday so hopefully he's back to his birth weight or past it! He changes everyday and we still don't know who we think he looks like. It's been different doing errands with 2 kiddos, but so far nothing crazy has happened - I do quick, short, run in run out errands right now, anything extensive will require my husband to tag along in the evening! My recovery has been great, a bit easier than with Ashlyn so I guess that's a bonus! My only wish right now is for cooler weather so we don't melt when we're outside.

First Couple Days

Here are a few more recent pictures, we've been taking a lot, but haven't put them all on the computer! Things are going well, Ashlyn is starting to show that she needs a little more attention from mommy, but that is to be expected! Everyone is feeling great and actually getting sleep...I only woke up 3 times last night!

Here is Ashlyn brushing her teeth next to me while Weston eats

This is after Weston's first bath, he did great!
Here are the long feet/toes, I love baby feet!
Weston was trying to lift up his head while snuggling with Blake
We got Ashlyn a "gift" from Weston so she could open it when we got home from the hospital, she loved it and said "Sank you Weston, Sanks" it was cute and she loves her presents! Thanks to everyone for your well wishes and comments, we feel really blessed to have our kids and to have such great family and friends! Although we don't know for sure, it's looking like Weston's hair will be similar to Ashlyn's - it's reddish brown and he has light eyebrows!

Our Family

We went to Amazing Jake's for my 2 nephews birthdays and it was a fun evening... Ashlyn was able to ride a bunch of rides and have lots of fun with her cousin Charlotte! I of course was the photographer, but at this point in my pregnancy that's the way I like it.

Riding the kid train with Blake, Charlotte and Papa

The carousel is always a big hit with Ashlyn

Ashlyn is obsessed with "drivin" and always want to sit in the drivers seat in our cars! She loved this game, but got nervous when it would actually move back n forth!

Lately (as I've been getting baby stuff out and washing everything) Ashlyn is always "IN" everything - including the infant car seat, any toys, and clothes! She always refers to the stuff as the baby things... I think she has an idea that she is too big for all of it.

I bought a wagon at target and within 5 seconds (literally) of giving it to Ashlyn to play with she got hurt and somehow hit her face on the handle...she cried for a minute but seemed that her feeling were hurt more than her actual face! sad huh

This picture is becomming a usual occurance in our house! Blake hasn't played his Xbox in about a year and our nephew was over a few weeks ago and wanted to play it, ever since Ashlyn wakes up every morning and points to the controller and says "I play daddy's game"... I tell her she has to wait until daddy gets home from work and sure enough she asks Blake to play within 10 minutes of him being home! She's a smarty pants, Blake lets her really play and she has fun, although her attention span is about 10 -15 minutes and then she wants to use Blake's controller.

Our next post will hopefully be of our little boy arriving! I'm thinking Sunday will be a good day to post some photos of him! Check back...
