32 weeks! and 1 day.
it's getting close! another 2 fortnightly antenatal appointments before we go to weekly visits. and i'm having my booking in interview tomorrow too.
it's really quite an interesting experience, hearing about all the normal pregnancy symptoms that my patients have, and then experiencing them for myself, albeit very mildly.
- morning sickness
- fatigue
- back ache
- heartburn
- leg cramps
- braxton hicks
in the last week+ i've started having braxton hicks, which are like little practice contractions that prepare the uterus for labour. not painful, just uncomfortable, and the pressure can really make me feel like i need to pee haha. not very fun, but completely normal.
am quite thankful that i haven't developed stretch marks yet, or oedema, and that i can still sleep at night despite her kicking and punching. i'm starting to feel more tired these days, but still not as much as in the first trimester (when i actually took arvo naps most days).
lost our church venue last minute this week, so we ended up going to the city centre today. and since we were in the city, we had lunch at qvm with the lg! yay. jam donuts, oysters, lots of potato, fish and chips, soup in a bread bowl... so good. and then we walked through the market and got a whole bunch of fresh fruit and veg for only $6.70!
super love our new fridge, it is so BIG. ideally we'd have liked to have gotten a bigger one, but we were limited by space. still, this one is about double the size of our old one, so i'm happy. feels like we could buy everything and still have lots of space haha. love it. the one thing i'm not in love with is that we don't have another spot for the microwave so it's sitting on top of the fridge, and i need to stand on a step stool to actually use it safely. -.-
anyway. 8 weeks (or 55 days) to go!

29+ week update
we're nearly 30 weeks! which means we're nearly at the 3/4 mark. haha. another 10+ weeks to go, it's going by so fast (yes i know i cannot say this enough).
emily has been super active lately, to the point where i notice her moving even on a really busy day at work. i knew going into the pregnancy that i would be one of those patients who was really paranoid about decreased foetal movements, and i'm glad i haven't had to go in for a CTG yet.
recently we got emily her cot and change table (no change pad yet), and we got a whole bunch of hand me downs too. but i saw last week that bonds was having their eofy sale (40% off everything!) and went down to chaddy to get her a few more warm things (since she will be a winter baby) and took the opportunity to get some nursing bras too. just bearing in mind that i will need to get my hospital bag packed at some stage...
am going through this online learning package that the hospital provided, and we're going for our first antenatal class this wednesday. not that i think it will be that helpful to me, but the midwives i work with suggested that it might be helpful to j... plus it's always good to know how things work at different places i guess.
my weight has been holding steady at 56-56.5kg since we got back from sg, which means i haven't really gained any in the last 3 weeks! or so my analogue scale says. we redeemed a digital one from flybuys but we're still waiting for it to be delivered.
latest pet peeve: people standing around in the way (or in my way). particularly now when i take up that much more space... -.-
in other, baby-unrelated news, j is on his second week on of nights, so i've been having to sleep alone again. it actually gets really lonely when the cat decides to sleep on the beanbag in the living room instead of on me haha.
we're going to bright next week! still not quite sure what we're going to do there, but i hope the weather is good. and that we'll all survive the 4 hour drive squished in one car. my back and shoulders hurt just thinking about it.
