baby's current name.
it means hardworking/ striving/ industrious.
still not 100% sure about it.
the church computer is probably my biggest stressor in life at the moment. we will probably get a new desktop (we are all hoping it's a mac) when we move to our new building but in the meantime, we really have to find some more reliable alternative. computers don't last very long when they're moved around all the time.
You split the sea so I could walk right through it
my fears are drowned in perfect love
You rescued me so I can stand and sing
I am a child of God

went back to work again yesterday after 5 weeks of holiday. ;p and i have to say it was good fun! largely because i got to leave at 5.30pm (or 6) and didn't have to go back today to face the mess again haha.
it was a busy day, but not too chaotic. though we did have a few heart attacks with bradycardias and prolonged decels. glad that at least one lady delivered on my shift (a VBAC too!) and that i managed to get 2x 16g cannulas in. yay. those are the bane of my life.
it was also nice seeing everyone again. the boss (who squinted at my abdo when he first saw me), the midwives, ward clerk... even one of my patients from antenatal clinic last year! it was nice seeing a familiar face. :) hope the rest of her labour went alright.

so... it's been ages. but i figured i'd write something while waiting for the husband to come home from work. he's been working for 15.5 hours and is on call tonight, the poor thing. hope he gets to come home soon.
anyway. we are going to have a baby! :D due mid august. and we have known about it for about 9 weeks now. ;p
13 weeks and 3 days today! little milestones so far:
- first ultrasound at 7 weeks and 6 days: baby measured 1.5cm and FHR was 174bpm
- second ultrasound at 11 weeks and 2 days: baby measured 4.5cm and FHR was 168bpm
- harmony test: low risk for trisomy 13, 18, and 21, and we found out that she's a girl!
- third ultrasound at 13 weeks and 2 days: baby measured 7.55cm, FHR was 161bpm, and we saw her move for the first time!
was really glad that they recorded the entire 13 week ultrasound on a dvd for us (audio included!), which means j got to watch it when he got home from work. :) he hasn't been able to go for the scans so it was the first time he really got to see bub. :)
and she is still nameless at the moment. i think i was nearly wishing she would be a boy so we wouldn't have to think of a name (we already had a boy name picked out) haha. but before we were pregnant i had a dream that i had a baby girl so i kind of already knew she would be a girl. ;p but seriously though, girl names are so much more difficult to pick than boy names.
the pregnancy has been pretty easy on me so far. had a bit of nausea and vomiting from weeks 8 to 12 but nothing too serious. didn't even have to take most of the maxolon i got! the motion sickness has faded. and my appetite is back to normal. bowels are also working fine now. ;p
have been on elevit but am planning to switch to ifolic when my elevit runs out at the end of the week. my boss always says multivits are a waste of money. hope my obstetrician agrees. she also put me on vitamin D since i am so cold intolerant and almost never get any sun.
am pretty much baffled by all the traditional chinese confinement beliefs. cannot shower for a month? then can only shower using hot water boiled with herbs? after washing your hands you have to rub them with rice wine? cannot drink cold drinks? must rest in bed? i'm planning to have a very western confinement (ie. no confinement), to the dismay of my mum and mother in law. but we'll see how it goes.
still have not had a peep of congratulations from a certain someone. but first baby boy kang is still up for grabs! hurhur.
going back to work on thursday (just one day a week though) and seeing the obstetrician again on friday! eggcites. :)
