only one week of rehab left. 3.5 days, to be exact. i called in sick today.

then i'll be thrown back into the world of o&g. literally. i've got orientation on the first day, then i'm on call overnight. and then also working the next day 0900-1700. erm okay.

we went to the healesville sanctuary! which means i've been to all 3 zoos in melbourne. they are all pretty unimpressive, really. stopped by mocha and lime in healesville for brunch (eggs, trout, and avo). on the way back we also stopped by the oakridge winery for some wine tasting. and ended up buying two bottles (pinot noir and reisling).

then we watched Unbroken at forest chase (new movie hang out since chaddy hoyts is still under renovation). really good movie!

i think i have a foreign body in my foot. :|

so anyway, we have been married for 5 weeks. of course, we've had to make some adjustments... probably more so for j since he started work 2 weeks ago too. we still live apart most of the time, and because of our essentially opposite work schedules, we don't get to talk much during the week. so weekends are for catching up. still slowly mulling over the adjustments.

and i'm still in the process of moving back to rusden. the final move will be in exactly one week. hopefully the rest of the stuff fits in my car! also need to drop becky off at the cattery then. he'll stay there for 7 weeks this time. D: this is the longest he's been away ever. thankfully they gave me the cheap rate despite increasing their rates this year.

73 days to our second honeymoon, can't wait.

survived week 2 of work and week 1 of no internet. did a bit of packing. threw a lot of stuff away.

drove all the way to warragul to visit the husband mid week, bringing corn muffins and rice cooker claypot chicken rice (so easy to cook and so good). and drove all the way back to geelong the next day to work. he was surprised but i think these sort of things are really not very out of character for me.

today the previous pall care reg saw me and said "congratulations!" i went "...for what?"

so sian about having to work sunday + next saturday. working weekends at mckellar are such a pain because not only do you have to work 0830-1430 or 1630, you are also on call till 0830 the next morning. ugh.

4 of my patients were dying this morning, and by the end of the work day 2 had died. but it's okay, i was doing pall care today. when you look at them, you actually want them to die, it's better for them that way. there is absolutely no point in being alive if you're in that state. i guess that's why doctors never want much resus if things go bad, but people who aren't in the medical field always want full resus.

(randomly) meeting yen for brunch tomorrow, not sure where to bring her after...

been married for 4 weeks today. and it will be one month on monday! where did all that time go?

HELLO. :p dusting off cobwebs. the last time i blogged was 12 days before the wedding haha.

it's been 3 weeks since we got married, and a week since we got back from our honeymoon. i've been working for the last 5 days but still feel the most rested i've felt since several months ago haha. which is kind of expected.

am glad it's over (it was the most tiring day of my life: 0430-0330), but am also really thankful for everyone who helped out! i really felt like i literally did no work that day, just did what people told me to do when they told me to do it. and everything sort of just fell into place! haha okay i'm sure there was a lot going on in the background that we weren't aware of. so yes, thank you all very much (not that many actually read this blog).

the honeymoon was also pretty tiring, though i'm not quite sure why i was so tired considering j drove the entire 3000km hurhur. did a bit of trekking, rock climbing (not the wall kind), walking, cruising, horse riding, hang gliding... our skydiving trip got cancelled (to our relief ;p), and so did the milford sound kayak trip, but oh well. really liked fergburger, so much so that we had 3 burgers each in the time we were there (2 while we were in queenstown and i made j make a detour so we could get another one). towards the end of the trip we were so tired we just spent the afternoons napping/ watching tv haha.

oh and our photographer (melvin ho) was really quick and finished editing our photos within 3 weeks! amazing (considering it was over christmas and new year too). photos: http://client.melvinho.biz/justinfawn/

but yes, now we're back and j has had his orientation at work! and will be starting work this monday. he's really worried that he will kill someone, but i'm sure he'll be fine. i still have 3 weeks of rehab, then i'll be going back to o&g. it's slightly terrifying, i can barely remember any o&g and really didn't even get to do much procedural stuff last year. :|

we've moved our (my) internet over to rusden so i'm going to be internet-less in geelong for the next 3 weeks. :( will have to make the most out of using hospital wifi haha. i've also started moving my stuff over. 2 car loads so far, i think i'm making good progress. the cat has been in rusden for the last few days as well and seems to be settling in quite well. j has relented and let him come into the bedroom. ;p

we also just booked our second honeymoon. ;p koh samui in april! plus a few days in sg before and after. hopefully we'll get to go to mauritius for shaun & stella's wedding too but j will be doing gen surg then so it's highly unlikely. :(

in other news, my grandmother has recovered from her sepsis but her multiple myeloma is no longer responding to chemo. my grandfather had a minimal trauma fractured nof and was SENT HOME from hospital to await surgery (unheard of in australia). my brother also fractured his radius. sigh. everyone is falling apart.
