anatomy

Something I wanted to do I didn't do because of a certain unlucky number. Hey I learnt my lesson, the number is unlucky!

May have found a rather unexciting use for this. As notes to myself .. and what I did. And quotes I want to remember

== Listened to tape on David Hume ..

-- check out body worlds exhibition for more drawing material and color examples of anatomy
-- continue to think planes rather than lines, and if not too dense, shapes ..

Creating heads in Blender 3d

Maybe this blog will develop into something--although I doubt it. Maybe I'll have only this one post and just keep re-editing it. I seem to remember a book by Albert Camus about a 'writer' who wrote an introductory sentence to his novel, and, ya, it went on for a bit, and all he did was re-write the sentence. Trying to find the right words. What a torture it is to try to find the right words. At any rate he never progressed past that. I believe the novel was titled 'The Plague' (Fr. La Peste). What was the sentence?

‘One fine morning in May a slim young horsewoman might have been seen riding a handsome sorrel mare …’

Some thoughts about noses and topology of noses I would like to discuss in the near future.

For now, suppose I introduce a couple heads I began working on this week ... suppose I talk about the modelling itself, and the issues faced. Suppose not. On left older scary man; on right young woman, meant to be appealing in some way. That is, appealing to me. Haunting faces are what I am after. I have another couple heads I mean to start this week too.

These heads were inspired by characters I saw in old B & W films. Interesting heads not recognizable to the average film goer. Modelling heads from films is not so hard .. after some practice--although it's impossible to get by without a front view and profile view. A true profile view is gold.

In a film I can isolate a profile as the characters move about. I colorized the man's head by using a colorizing Node set up. Nothing very sophisticated as yet. Primitive in fact. Mapping is also rough, to give me an idea only. Ear done only in 2d as yet, and not attached to head. I have some SSS (Sub surface scattering) node set ups to try, to get decent results they don't have to be that complicated.

Notes  HIS CHIN.. BAD .. His chin should be ball-shaped. One of the most singular parts of his face and I botched it. When I started it did look like a ball, but as I worked on it it went wrong. ... Putting it in a blog here is just to get me talking about it, or should I say thinking about it in a different way. Anyway, work in progress, and will update. Blah blah

I'll replace the eyes with more realistic eyes. I have a method for creating such eyes. For now, I use un-textured ones to help in modelling the face, etc.
