A parent's wish is for them to see
Their childrens' lives happy and trouble free.
To grow into adults and live out their dreams
And see what the future is meant to be.
When the time's right and they fly the nest,
Their first child laid upon their chest
They will gaze into their baby's eyes
And think their parent's words were wise.
Their childrens' lives happy and trouble free.
To grow into adults and live out their dreams
And see what the future is meant to be.
When the time's right and they fly the nest,
Their first child laid upon their chest
They will gaze into their baby's eyes
And think their parent's words were wise.

I absolutely resonate with this poem, Stacey; it shows the special caring and devotion of mother and child. I've written a poem about my son using the words "it's so hard to let go when it's their time to fly and soar with wonderment or turbulence" is it's probably why your poem really touches my heart. I can definitely feel the love being expressed in your poem. Other poems I've read while visiting this morning show that you write with passion and clarity. Kudos, and a cartwheel!
can you make this poem longer for me, with more touching words and emotions, just want to share it with my co-parents at church and publish it in our journal, thanks
lovely. i once read a poem like this, it was about how men think their fathers are behind the times, but once their fathers pass away, boy, it really hits them. I hope I fully appreciate my parents' advice
