The Doors 1970-12-11 State Fair Music Hall Dallas TX (T)
I got the cassette tape for this CD-r release in trade from a guy who lived nearby in the mid 70's. He used to bring over tapes recorded at local venues dating from the late 60's through the early 70's. He didn't talk much and I didn't ask many questions. I don't believe he traded through the mail at all and only limited trades in person. He didn't record the shows but I believe he was very close to the person who did. Over the years I traded analog copies of the tape. I have never done a digital transfer of it until now.

I bring this "show" to the masses due to the fact that 90% of the between song banter and tuning is still intact, I can only hear maybe 15 or 20 people clapping! in my years of collecting live shows, I have yet to come across a Doors boot with such flow between songs, its not chopped up!
Granted, the date and city are what was given to me, I still do not know for sure, if anyone takes the time to research this, please email me with some info...thanks phish75@gmail.com

"The Beautiful Die Young has a satisfying soundquality and some very interesting versions of Doors songs. People especially will love the beautiful medley within Back Door Man, featuring early renditions of Maggie M'Gill and Roadhouse Blues. The End is truly fascinating on this CD. And above all - it is a complete concert without any cuts. Do not miss The Beautiful Die Young!"

The Doors 1967-03-04 Avalon Ballroom San Francisco, CA
The Doors
March 4, 1967 (Saturday)
Avalon Ballroom
San Francisco, California
[Soundboard Recording]
Lineage:
Tracks 1 & 2: MASTER > ANA2 > CDR > EAC > WAV > FLAC (lvl 8, SBE aligned)
Track 3: "It Crawled Out Of The Vaults Of The KSAN" Bootleg > EAC > WAV > FLAC (lvl 8, SBE aligned)
Tracks 4-6: Same as Tracks 1-3 but mixed into mono.
The accepted date for these tracks is March 4, 1967 -- however, there's a chance they're actually from May 1967. The first two songs are sourced from a 2nd generation tape while "Who Do You Love" is sourced from a bootleg box set. This same version of "Who Do You Love" is often incorrectly included with copies of the March 7, 1967 Matrix show. The only change I made to "Who Do You Love" was swapping the channels to match the other two Avalon songs. Tracks 4-6 are simply mono mixes of the same sources that I created for easier listening. It can be annoying to hear all the vocals in one channel and most of the instruments in the other. So, personally, I prefer hearing the Avalon '67 tracks in mono and thought I'd include them as a bonus.

Notes:
Joe Maloney's first stealth concert recording. (Actually, back then security did not stop him from entering w/recording equipment, so I really can't call it "stealth").
Disc 1 ends with a tracked fadeout & disc 2 begins with a tracked fade in: to join the music tracks of both discs, remove d01t11 & d02t01 track. The two "discs" will splice together.
At Joe's request, I left in the crowd reaction to the power cutoff (mostly for Morrison's reacting to the show being stopped). You can leave out d02t15 if you want.
The transition from tape 1 to tape 2 (during the intro to Mystery Train) involved a change of tape brands (Scotch 290 -> Sunset 600) & seemed to produce a drop in recording quality. Tape 2 also seems to have many gain changes as part of the recording process. Not bad for a fist attempt at recording live music, especially having to flip tape & thread a 3 in. spool of tape in the middle of a concert crowd.
Also included are Toast/Jam printouts for the CDs (so you can use the "Audio starts in Pause" timings to have a track end when the music stops and the subsequent track start when the music begins).
Recorded on a 1968 RCA portable reel to reel model YLS 15B at 3 3/4 ips, using an external microphone. Original 3" reels were transferred to a Mac DAW using a Wollensak T-1500 reel to reel recorder (approx. 45 yrs old). The analog signal was first run through: a) a SAE 2800 parametric equalizer to bump the highs slightly; & b) a Phase Linear Autocorrelator to remove hiss. Lo Cut filter on Mackie 1402-VLZ used to remove hum & grunge below 75 Hz (-18 db/octive). Bias Deck used to splice tape flips & even out volume levels. Bias Peak again used to transfer SDII files to WAV files for shn compression. xACT used to fix SBEs & encode to SHNs.
This recording is the one of literally dozens of concerts recorded by Joe Maloney in the late '60s - late '70s to be released to the live recording community. The bulk of the concerts recorded were in the Boston area, with some in Maine venues.

This performance finds The Doors (1 year and 18 days after the death of Jim Morrison)
in Manzarek's home town of Chicago. Obviously, drastic changes have redirected their
focus and, much to my dismay, they dropped most of the songs from previous setlists,
playing songs mostly from Other Voices & the soon to be released Full Circle. Don't get
me wrong, I love those LPs but I wish they had decided to perform songs from L.A. Woman
as well. I think Ray could have sung The Changeling or Cars Hiss By My Window just fine.
Barring that, The Doors are in fine form here and, in my opinion, turned in some of the best
versions of Love Me Two Times after Jim died. This, by the way, was the beginning of the final tour
by The Doors who would ultimately disband around March 1973.
Hopefully, those of you looking for some post-Morrison shows will enjoy this one. I know I do.

As with my Manzarek shows, I've done nothing to this recording except to upload it to my

rating but that, however, is always subjective.

I torrented this one time on STG about a year or so ago,
and this wonderfully RARE set came straight from my
master LP set.
This is one of the rarest Doors recordings out there,
once even considered a "phantom recording" until a vinyl
edition popped up. This recording was made in 1982 and was supposedly
broadcast once in England in '83. It was pressed in a
limited number of 500 vinyl copies that were promos given
to radio stations in the early 80's. Very few have seem
to have survived. It contains three hours of anecdotes about
Jim Morrison from everyone from Corky Courson, Pam's father,
to Tony Liscandro, to journalists and the like. It is truly
an amazing set for any Doors fan. It also contains Jim reading
poetry from the Lost Paris sessions of '71. I cannot express
enough how damn rare this thing is...it's a tribute to Doors
fans all ovetr this board...this is for you, Ollie, you bastard!
I'm capped at 30, so please be patient and WAIT AROUND and share
with others, please...that's all I request.
Sorry, but no artwork on this one...
Enjoy!

The Doors 1969-07-21 Aquarius Theater Hollywood, CA
this is nearly the complete set of the second show of this date, 1969-07-21 performed at the Aquarius Theater in Hollywood, California.
disc 1 is missing only a brief section of tuning which occurs between when the music's over and you make me real.
disc 2 is missing light my fire which would be the second track of the disc and the celebration of the lizard which would be the fourth track on disc 2.
the celebration of the lizard is the same track which is on THe Doors Absolutely Live Album.
I have been unable to track down the missing sections of this show but feel that because it is both the most complete source i believe to be available anywhere and it is such an outstanding show, that it needs to be heard.
i hope you like it as much as i do.
if you do not already own it and love the doors, go out and buy Absolutely Live. It is an essential piece which belongs in every Doors fan's collection.
Here is the track listing of this great show

these are the files that were previously missing from the set of files i had acquired to this great doors show. they are the material that belongs at the very beginning of the disc 2 fileset. with the inclusion of these files, i now believe this show to be absolutely complete. i will also add that i think this is probly the best doors show i have had the fortune to hear. a true gem
VERY IMPORTANT: IF YOU DOWNLOADED THIS SET BEFORE, WHEN THE MISSING FILES WERE ABSENT, YOU NEED TO KNOW THAT THE NEWLY INCLUDED "TUNING" AND "THE CROWD HUMBLY REQUESTS" FILES ARE THE SAME AS THE "TUNING" AND "THE CROWD REQUESTS THEIR FAVORITES" FILES INCLUDED IN THE DISC 2 FILESET. THEY VARY ONLY BY ABOUT A SECOND IN LENGTH EACH AND THE DIFFERNCE IN TIME IS COMPRISED OF NOTHING OTHER THAN APPLAUSE. NO TALKING IS LEFT OUT OR INCLUDED IN ANY OF THE AFFECTED FILES. I INCLUDE THESE DUPLICATE FILES TO RETAIN THE INTEGRITY OF THE INITIAL SET OF FILES I OFFERED UP. ANY CHANGES TO SHOWS ALREADY AVAILABLE SHOULD NEVER RESULT IN THE REMOVAL OF FILES OTHERS MAY ALREADY HAVE GOTTEN. IF YOU BURN THESE TO A DISC, I WOULD RECOMMEND USING ALL FOUR FILES IN THE NEW FOLDER AND REMOVING THE FIRST 2 FILES FROM THE CD 2 FOLDER AS THIS RESULTS IN THE PERFECT FLOW OF THIS SHOW.
there is also now a more exhaustive set of artwork available for this set which is contained in the "newly added artwork" file.
i would also like to point out the contribution of CB who in addition to originally turning me on to this show, also located these files and pointed them out to me. alot of work has gone into this set of files. it is the most work i have personally done on any show i have worked on and i am extremely happy that this show is now completed and ready to be enjoyed in its entirety by anyone fortunate enough to get this great great doors show.
finally, here is the setlist for the final and complete version of disc 2

Long Beach Sports Arena
Long Beach, CA
[Audience Recording - Two Sources]
First Source: Master Reel > Cassette > CDR > EAC > WAV > Flac Frontend > FLAC (lvl 8, SBE aligned)
Second Source: Master Reel > Cassette(2) > DAT > CDR > EAC > WAV > Flac Frontend > FLAC (lvl 8, SBE aligned)
Two low gen sources for The Doors' performance at the Long Beach Sports Arena on February 7, 1970. After perfoming 4 concerts over 2 days at the Felt Forum in New York City in the middle of January and shows at the Winterland Arena the previous two nights, Jim Morrison's voice is noticeably hoarse during this performance in Long Beach. Still, it doesn't keep him or the band from delivering a dynamic performance. This concert is one of my favorites and possibly the longest Doors concert ever performed. Unfortunately, no complete tape exists/has surfaced. Only two sources are known and they are both presented here in the best sound quality currently available -- namely 1st and 2nd generation copies.
Unfortunately, whoever transferred the first source tape did so at too high a volume. It's still very listenable for an audience recording, but it should be better. Perhaps a better transfer will appear sometime in the future.
While the first source is the most complete, the second source was taped much closer to the stage and compares to audience recordings from the Felt Forum. Sadly, the recording device used by the taper had some severe problems. Every song on the second source is cut -- some horribly so. I'm including this source as a companion piece to the more complete first source. There's really no way to enjoy listening to the second source without having heard the first source to help orient yourself. While many people say the second source is for completists only, I like to think there are some worthwhile snippets in there that make for a more than worthy addition to fans' collections (Jim's dialogue with the audience, for example). The second source is also the only source that includes clips of the songs "Universal Mind," "Carol," and "The End." Unlike circulating versions of this copy, all the songs are in their correct order.
With these caveats in mind, I hope you enjoy this show and the two sources for it. Here's hoping a more complete copy surfaces one day and we can hear everything that went down that night.
