The third of three Christmas Cure shows which were unofficially celebrating the 30th anniversary of the release of The Top album and subsequent tour. I nice gesture by Robert was to invite And Also The Trees along as support as they were 30 years ago. I attended the Liverpool show on that tour, my first Cure show. These three are the 54th, 55th and 56th times IÕd seen the band, most of them great and lots unforgettable. This run of three compare well with other runs of three in London on the Kissing  and Prayer tours. Although the set lists maybe lacking the variation of those shows, they definitely benefit from extra energy of the band not being worn out after a long World or European tour. Robert was chattier in these shows than heÕd been in in the previous 50 odd IÕd seen. Another nice touch, which I havenÕt seen acknowledged elsewhere, was RobertÕs dedication of Lovecats to ex manager Chris Parry, referred to as Bill.  Anyway, enough of me, time to enjoy the show.

personal note:

A very gloomy 1982 show (again). Robert isn't very talkative, just announcing
some songs. 'Drowning Man' and 'Pornography' are breathtaking.
'Killing an Arab' is a bit tame, 'All Mine' as usual a great improvisation.

The quality of this recording is very good. One of the better audience recordings
I have of 1982.
'Three Imaginary Boys' cuts in in the first few seconds of the intro.
And there's a cut in 'All Mine'.
Also there is some 'tapping' noise now and then. Can be someone clapping near the
recorder, can also be tapping the mic to test the recording level.
If this was really taped with a normal cassette recorder, as the original nfo says,
it is really amazing to get this quality.

*dolby off despite the fact you can see the dolby box ticked on the picture of the cassette-- i toyed around with dolby on but it took imho ( and someone elses) too much from the dynamics and muffled the sound.  The hiss of the non dolby use is bearable and only is prominent in quiet parts

Recorded by dear DIMENEW at app. 5 meters left side of stage center. Another excellent recording though not as good as the 12/22 tape. This recording has a lot more of useless chatter
and some more boomy bass. I was thinking about some equailization, but decided to give you this with warts and all other possible disturbances. Just because I think that it sounds fine
the way it is. You'll decide for yourself, but be warned as on today's x-mas cake'n'coffee my dear sister-in-law stated that your fellow Spacebandit can't hear anything at all...hmm,
maybe only that what I do not want to listen to?

Second (or better first) of the CURE's X-Mas shows at Hammersmith Odeon. I've decided to put up the gorgeous sounding 12/22 show for x-mas eve before, in contrast to my usual politics of
posting by date. Seems like a good decision and I hope you all out there enjoyed the show. My own history about THE CURE is short. I really loved the "Disintegration" album way back those
years. Not too many of those are played here except for the "hit" songs, but I missed the title track as well. But, huh, I'm not that expert on THE CURE. So I better keep my mouth shut

Story:

The last song 'The Cure Are Dead' was an improvisation with Robert on drums, Lol on bass, Simon on guitar and Gary Biddles (a roadie and Simon's friend) on vocal.

This was also the last date of the "Fourteen Explicit Moments" tour, and Simon's last show with the Cure until his return in 1985.
