So originally I thought this turned out awful but I think a combination of my tinnitus,
blown out ear drums & over analyzing was to blame.  This doesn't sound as nice as
Chris' Schoeps pull; which is fantastic but it's nowhere near the mess it sounded like
to me after the show.  If you like Naks then hopefully you'll enjoy it.  Had a
great time meeting Schoeps Chris and running into C3P0 Chris after 17 years.  Only three
open tapers and all named Chris, pretty funny.  Thanks to ATCF staff for going to bat
for the us & The Crystal Ballroom staff for being willing to listen as there was
some confusion as far as taping at first, the other two Chris' took the brunt of it.
In light of recent events I didn't think I'd get to hear Mr. Robinson play these songs
again so this was special and my GF who never saw The Crowes loved it.  Hope you enjoy :)

Dave and I have been going to shows together for a very long time.  We met in the early 90's through a mutual interest in concert recording.  We would go to shows all over the SE CT area and surrounding states.  Dave's passion for the recording arts has even led him to a prominent position for a major sound reinforcement company.  It's always fun when Dave sends me an email reminding me of a show we attended umpteen years ago.  Dave has the memory of a computer.  He can pull dates, locations and set lists for every show he's been to.

We've been in the process of transferring both our analog and digital masters over the course of the past couple years.  A lot of it consists of the usual Grateful Dead and Phish shows, nothing of note since the Net is saturated with “new source” versions of these shows.  Once in a while however, we come across a gem of a recording that hasn't been in circulation. This,we hope, is just such a case.  Dave's been praising this recording for a while.  I can't think of a better time to release it than on it's 25th anniversary.

The New Haven Coliseum was a great place to see a show.  Long since torn down, the Coliseum was home to some of the best shows I've ever been to, including my first GD show in '81.  At the Black Crowes show, Dave's recollection is that we went to New Haven without tickets.  We must have had high hopes for getting in since we brought our recording gear with us.  Couldn't have scored a better pair of seats, dead center on the floor.  And I think the results reflects this.

Dave and I hope you enjoy this as much as we have had re-listening to it.  We'll continue the transfer efforts and hope to have some more sweet shows soon.
