My latest addition

I knitted this in an aran cotton yarn. This is the second one I have made, the first one was for home! It knitted up much bigger than my previous cushions,so I had to downsize the needles quite dramatically and it took a lot more wool than it should have done, but for all that it is a luxurious cushion and would grace anyone's home! The colour reproduction is not very good in the photo, it is not a pale blue but a darker, duskier blue.

Oh.. I do like to be beside the seaside.....

What a lovely weekend, I decided that spring had come at last...blue skies and the sun was out and it was warm, well warm for March!. We had a lovely afternoon walking along the promenade in Felixstowe and I even managed to pop into Felixstowe's charity shops and was so pleased to to come upon  a perfect Royal Doulton 70's coffee pot and a 60's Midwinter coffee pot set, yes, I do like 60's and 70's coffee pots and yes I do collect them and anything else it would seem that catches my eye, china , fabrics, clothes, anything!
I am getting on with my patchwork quilted throw and decided to attacht a pale lemon coloured fleece backing   and I am going to bind it with a pretty  lemon patterned fabric. So now the hard bit.... I have attached the patchwork to the fleece with safety pins and the next bit is to draw diagonal lines across it and tack it in place in order to hand quilt it. I am a novice at this and I find this bit quite hard, there is probably an easier way to do this! The only place I could attach the two together with pins was on the conservatory floor, it's a bit hard on the old knees and I had to wash the floor before I could do it. The next step in the same manner is to draw  the lines, my knees are not looking forward to that!

my pretty knitted cotton cushion

After my last knitted cable cushion I fancied a change, having knitted two of them, so I bought some lovely quality 100% luxury cotton yarn. I hadn't knitted with cotton before so to start off with it felt a bit strange but I soon got used to it.The yarn knits up beautifully and as it is mercerised it has a lovely sheen to it. The colour in the photo is not a good reproduction it is more of a brightish, pastel baby green, if that makes sense! I have bought the wool for the next cushion which will be a cable pattern and is a blue cotton aran. However, I have just started knitting a lacey bolero with  ties for me, for the summer. The yarn is Sublime organic cotton and it is knitting up fabulously and the colour is called 'scumble'....doesn't exactly describe the colour does it?
I have also just finished this aran cardigan for Sophie I hope she likes it!

I tried to get a decent photo but this was the best I could do, when I photographed it full length, it looked awful! The front pieces are asymmetrical and the yoke looks good when fixed with a decent sized brooch.

I have just finished knitting these two retro tea cosies. They are knitted in a lovely soft good quality 4 ply in pink and lilac stripes. The pattern is really old and cost 4d old money and is in black and white and the weight is in oz not grammes. There is a couple of other patterns for tea and egg cosies in 3 ply ....so watch this space!
