Perspective Moth Place Setting - Sizzix Ch. 3

Isn't the Perspective Moth from the Tim Holtz Sizzix Chapter 3 release so fun? I keep mistakenly calling it the Perspective Dragonfly, because I was thinking a dragonfly for my garden tea party. I love that it can be either a moth or a dragonfly.

I've attached a quick video tutorial for making this darling moth for a place setting decor piece because I had several people message me with questions about how to color it and how to attach the vellum. I hope this helps!

This place setting is not china, it's stuff I got at the Dollar Tree because it was all about the place setting decor, not the dishes.  But it also shows that you can do something that is still very pretty with affordable things.

I wanted something that was really very easy to put together, so it could be replicated multiple times without taking too much time. The colors I used for this sample were Victorian Velvet, Tattered Rose, and Forest Moss.

But as you could see in the video, it would be really fun to make the moths in different colors so they go with the china and tea cup the guest will be using. my tea cups are all different styles and colors, so it would be really fun to do that!

I added some sparkle with Distress Tarnished Brass Mica Spray and flecks of Tarnished Brass Distress Spray. The sparkle on the Seal Shiflit is Tarnished Brass Distress Crayon, to tie it all together.

To finish the piece, attach the Perspective Moth to a Seal Switchlit, and back them with the leaf stem from the Large Stems released last year. I tied the plate up with a bit of gold tulle for a finishing touch.

Tea in the Garden - Sizzix Chapter 3 Release

 Hello crafty friends! If you watched Tim's Sizzix Chapter Three YouTube live to the end, you will have seen that this chapter inspired me to create a Garden Tea Party theme for all my makes. I don't think that has ever happened, but it just grew out of my one idea for the tag and I just had to go with it. There are several makes for table decor and favors so I made a Youtube video where I discuss each make. I hope you find it helpful.

The tag that inspired it all...I will do more detailed posts on most of these makes or combinations of them, but I thought I would just post this general post and you can let me know which ones you want to get more details on. For this tag I used an Etetera tag, Potted 2, Leafy Twigs, Decorative Trims, Large Stems 2, Wildflower Stems 1, Bold Alphanumeric and Colorize Cafe.

These potted makes can be nameplates, or just place setting decor, or names of food items on a buffet if you have one. I love that the Potted 2 dies can cut chipboard or several layers of heavy stock. I paired the Potted 2 dies with the Large Stems 2 release from Chapter 2 of this year.

 

These are not only a favor, but also a little rim decor for the place setting. How fun would it be to change the Impresslit 3D Butterfly with colors to coordinate with your various tea cups? For the favor I tied a couple of tea bags with tulle and then added the Seal Impresslit with the Colorize Cafe teacup on the front.

You just cut the Perspective Dragonfly, then adhere it to a Seal Switchlit, and back them with the leaf stem from the Large Stems released last year.

  

Lastly, I want to make sure my guests go home with some fun favors to remember our tea time in the garden. For this I turned to the new Matchbox dies and added some of the Tiny Tattered Florals under the domes so that they were like little take-home terrariums.

The last little favors that I made use the Mini 3D Botanical and Roses texture fade embossing folders. They were vary easy to make by just sewing a back onto them to make a pocket and punching a half circle out at the top.

Stencil Embossed Background Card

I'm sharing another sample card I made with the new Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous June 2021 release. I made a fun embossed background using one of the new layering stencils and paired it with the Bold Sayings and Mod Cactus stamps. 

I enjoyed making this fun, bright  card and made a video tutorial that you can see here:

It's really amazing how just a bit of clear embossing powder through a stencil can make such a pretty background.

 The Bold Sayings sentiment was embossed in white embossing powder on a piece of vellum.

  

 I finished the card off by fussy cutting three cacti and arranging them on both sides of the sentiment.

You Good?

I enjoyed making this slimline card for the Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous June 2021 release. It features the Inquisitive CMS432 stamp set as well as Distress Archival Hickory Smoke and Black Soot as well as Distress Stains.

I know I said it several times in the video, but I just love the way the Hickory Smoke Distress Archival Ink kind of soaks in the Distress colors. It's so cool and I have no idea why it does it, but I love that it does!

Here is a link to a sample card I made several years ago with Distress Archival Hickory Smoke and the Stamp Collector CMS338 stamps. 

I colored each stamp with Distress Inks and a Waterbrush. It did the same thing then and it's when I first fell in love with this little quirk.
