Garden

Our garden is the Man's new little baby. After hours of research, he determined we would grow our veggies on raised rows. We ordered compost to mix in with the clay... aka, our dirt.
Naturally the kids helped.

The Man of the House measured and created rows. (Do you like the big wooden boxes in the corner? It's our compost, just not ready to use yet. The Man made them).

The kids just couldn't stay off that nice fluffy dirt. So we put up a temporary fence (Chicken wire stapled to the stakes).

I had to emphasize stapled because some how they ripped it down the next day. We were told it was the baby. So far The Man of the House and little Miss have planted broccoli, cauliflower, potatoes and onions.

Kitchen Floor

Here is our kitchen. One of the reasons why we loved this house was because the dining room could be extended for dinner parties and we could still see whoever was cooking in the kitchen. Most likely being, Man of the House. That way, no ones left out of the party.

When we first walked through the house, it felt too dark (the electricity wasn't on either). To lighten up the kitchen, we painted the cupboards white ("popcorn" by Behr) and the walls a light turquoise ("sea anemone" by Martha Stewart). It made a wonderful difference. We lived with no doors in our kitchen for almost two weeks. It was nice because I could see were we had put everything from the move.

After my sister and I wiped the doors down with paint thinner, we primed, and painted THREE layers of paint on these bad boys.

Believe it or not, the kids didn't start getting into the kitchen cupboards until we put the doors back on.

Next step was the floor. We removed the old tile.

Found the tile at Home Depot. the pattern is called pinwheel.

Man of the house laying the floor. That red stuff is the grout. I was a little worried it was the wrong color.

But it dried beautifully.

My friend at Patient Daydreams gifted that beautiful painting to me. It was one she had done in college. I love how the colors work with the floor (not planned, just worked out that way). Thank you again, so much.
