Yesterday I ran the Texas Half around White Rock Lake in Dallas. It was a really neat experience. I had signed up by myself but found really nice people to run with at the race. For most of it, I ran next to an amazing person who was also LDS. We just happened to be next to each other by the fourth mile and pretty much finished together. It was really nice to have someone to gauge myself with. I finished strong in an hour and 58 minutes. That was the fastest and longest I had ever ran. It was hard. The last mile I just remember thanking my Heavenly Father for so much. To have a husband that supports me by looking after the kids while I run. For the ability to run. For my new friend who cheered me on as I approached the last half mile. At that point I ran as fast as I could. It was amazing having more to give. I thought about the gospel. That the end is not the time to slow down but to go harder. It was because of my training and previous work that I was able to run so strong just as scripture study and testimony building activities are what gives us the strength to be strong latter. "Scripture power, keeps me safe from sin..."
I loved it. I'm sore today, kinda hobbling, but I did it.
Here is a clip Seth took of me crossing the line. Oh you can't see me... I was going pretty fast.
