Happy Holidays

Since moving to Texas, we have been blessed to spend time with my two brothers and their families from Georgia. Over Thanksgiving we had a full out family reunion and now we are together again for Christmas.
I love cousins! We are on our way to the rodeo in Texas.

Cute cowgirls at the rodeo.

Goob in his hat.

This is Christmas morning in Georgia. Our little girl woke up especially early, and had a cold.

Her Daddy picked this gift out. What a cutie. Even though shes so tired...

For a real special treat, we visited some horses. They belong to a friend of my brother. The kids did some chores, walked a long side the horses and got to ride them for a little while.

She loved it. Not really afraid even on such a big animal. His name was shiek.

We are having a lot of fun with our family.

Off to Neverland

Halloween is one of my favorite occasions for two reasons. First, it is close to my birthday, and second, I get to play dress up. And now that I'm an adult and have children, I can dress up my whole family. (I'm Wendy)

Seth is such a good sport. Not many guys would wear green tights. He attached his feather to his hat too. That is why we are prefect for each other.

Captain James Hook had fun, although he really only kept the hat on for this picture.

I wish I had gotten more pictures of our little Tinker Bell, but the idea of people handing out candy was overwhelming.

Here is a video of Seth playing this really fun game we played at a party. He had to keep one foot up and grab the paper bag with his mouth. I think the tights helped his balance.

3 months

Last week James had his three month birthday (Olivia wanted cake). He can grab his little frog that dangles above his head, does superman in his cradle, "chews" on his hands or daddy's hand and cries with his mouth closed (the last one's my favorite). He's sleeping and eating like a champ and is a cheesy boy. Sometimes when he wears strips he looks like Curly Howard.

Here he is playing outside on his (3 month) birthday. He's about to go down that slide.

Refinished desk

I have a little hobby refinishing furniture. Its a developing skill that is almost always too stressful, but for some reason I love doing it (actually it is because I love turning something not so pretty into something a little more beautiful).
I bought a desk from a lady off of craigslist. Her hubby tried to refinish it but it was looking bad, so she decided to sell it. I could tell it was a little hard for her to see it go but she was happy I was going to finish it. Here is my desk after I sanded the top.

And after a lot more sanding, three coats of stain and shiny stuff:
(I will organize the cords later so just ignore them)

Notice the missing handle? Little miss was playing with them while I was working on the desk and now there are only three handles. I was planning to replace them in the future anyway.

I love my beautiful Children

(Looks like freckles but its really spaghetti sauce on her face).
I think my kids are just too cute. My little miss has become increasingly clever. I've been giving her five minute warnings before doing a new activity. She has really picked it up to were she will ask to "play 5 more minutes" before eating, sleeping, or leaving the house. She also loves to climb "up high" on top of the window ceil, her play kitchen and the bathroom sink. It is really hard to keep a straight face when I check on her for naps or bed time and she is sitting on top of her little kitchen. And of course her excuse for everything... "Not yet go potty, it's too hot." While it is still warm here, I'm not quite ready to believe it is too hot to pee.

James laughed for the first time Sunday at the R.S. broadcast. A sister was cooing with him and then he giggled with genuine delight. I loved it.

Thank you Heidi

Before moving to Texas my friend told me to always check my shoes. I'm so glad I did.

Little Stud

Here's our stud. He is lifting his head so well. Can you believe he is only two months old.

He is now 15lbs and 7oz. I love my little chunk. Check out the legs.

Our First Roach

Well, we know it would happen eventually. I spotted it hanging out on the backside of one of our living room chairs and called Seth to help rid us of our little visitor. He grabbed the vacuum but I didn't want that things body still in the house. Not to mention it would probably crawl out and get us in the night. I grabbed a glass, but as I moved closer it scattered to the top of the chair. Seth moved in to look at it and it ran again... it is now somewhere in my living room. I finished reading my scriptures with my feet on the couch.

Dancing through the Decades!

Seth and I went to our first Texan Dance. It was themed "Dancing through the decades." They encouraged us to dress up in styles from our favorite decade. I found this dress in a box full of potential dress up clothes for the little miss. There were a few tares that I stapled (I'm out of sewing needles for my machine) and it might have ripped a little throughout the night, but overall it was fun to wear. I won the 1980's costume contest (I'm not sure the 80's are my favorite but I had the dress). There was a nice turn out and pliantly of food. We took our little stud. He actually was awake for a lot of the dance but was calm as usual. Seth and I both had a blast despite turning into pumpkins a little after 10:30pm.

A bit of Mommy and a bit of Daddy.

James made a face a few days ago that really looked like his Daddy...

And then he was working out just like his Mommy...

He is such a good mix of us both.

Here is another picture of our little stud:

So we were heading out the door to pick up a dryer and Olivia says "It's raining." I honestly didn't believe her until I looked outside and sure enough it was like a monsoon. Do you like the lake in front of our house. I think it is a nice addition to the neighborhood.

Hello Texas!

Well we are here in Texas. Yes it is hot (breaking record of 109 degrees on Monday). Nonetheless we are having fun. I had my mom and my sister come and help me get settled before Seth started class. It was a week on Friday and we are pretty much unpacked. Our little duplex is so cute. I really like it besides the kitchen floor that is buckling and the small space I'm suppose to fit a washer in. One morning the little miss and I went to check out a park and discovered a walking/running path filled with people. Before this I rarely saw people outside (it was probably the heat). Anyway, I saw these people walking and running and Texas got that much better.
Seth and I both like our ward. It is literally backwards. We have R.S/Priesthood, followed by Sunday school and then Sacrament meeting. What I like about this is am more spiritually prepared for the most important meeting. Everyone is also so nice. We have been invited to a number of activities.

Welcome James

I grew up in the Tacoma area, so before heading off to grad school we had a welcome baby and good bye party. Here is a picture of the cake. It was a group effort putting it together. My mom, my sister, my friend Tami and I took turns putting circles on, holding James and running after the little miss. It was fun to have the opportunity to say good bye to some really awesome people.

The same weekend we blessed James at Great Grandma's house.

Here are some pictures of more fun with our family before the big move:

I love Gramers face here as she's getting wet.

Birthday

Olivia had a dual birthday party with our good friends at the beginning of the week. Their little boy is just a year younger than Olivia. They love playing together. Before the party we got together and made their birthday cake. It turned out really cute. Olivia loved the frog and ladybugs.

So hard not to touch.
She is wearing a tutu/swimming suit she had just gotten for her birthday.

Here she is blowing out her candles:

James Laurence born July 5th

(This picture was taken the night before he came).
What an experience! I tell ya, second babies are a lot easier then the first. The fun started a few hours after church (for those who saw me, shouldn't be surprised, I was looking huge). I wasn't sure it was serious because it was such a light pain in my lower back. Seth didn't want us to get too excited and reminded me they needed to be harder and longer before calling people (I called my mom because, worse comes to worse, she would have to hang out with us while we waited for the real show to start). Around 9:30-10 pm we decided to go to sleep because the contractions weren't getting longer. But they sure got stronger an hour latter. I was able to sleep, waking up for two to three contractions an hour until a little before 2am. Then I was having three between my bedroom and the bathroom. We called our midwife and met her at the Bellingham Birthing center a half an hour later. I was dialated to a 6 or 7cm by that time. Yee haw! I had done a lot of work already. Seth and I jumped in the tub. I worked hard focusing on my breathing, relaxing my face and thinking about meeting the baby. Other then barking at my mom twice, because I didn't feel like a flower opening up any more, I was nice and was able to ask my midwife what I could do to progress. Two hours later our purple little boy came out (4:30am). What an experience! I'm like a professional athlete. He was 9 lbs 9 oz. 21.5 inches long.
