Genesis 41

January 20

Joseph rises to power.

INSIGHT

God does the work of God, and man does the work of man. The work of man is faithfulness to what God has called him; the work of God is results. If we reverse the two, we can drive ourselves to an early grave. If we keep them in line, we can labor with freedom.

We need not get puffed up with pride when things go well, nor need we get distressed when things go poorly. To Pharaoh's question, Joseph answered, "It is not in me; God will give Pharaoh an answer of peace" (Genesis 41:16). Our job is faithfulness; God's job is results.

Genesis 22

Abraham offers his son, Isaac, as a sacrifice.

INSIGHT

God tests our faith -- not to catch us failing so that He can punish us or merely to determine genuineness -- but to strengthen and increase our faith for the future.

The concept of testing includes refining or purifying. It is the same word used to describe the process of refining gold to purify it and to increase its value. The purpose of testing is to yield spiritual maturity.

We see from Abraham's life that God tests us for our good. We, then, can trust Him, even during times of testing.

Genesis 9

Genesis 9
God covenants with Noah never to flood the earth again.

INSIGHT
A person is only as good as his word. If he is true to his word, he can be trusted; if he is not, he cannot. It is as simple as that. God promised that He would never destroy the earth with a flood again. He went even further by saying, "While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, winter and summer, and day and night shall not cease" (based on Genesis 8:22). Then God set a rainbow in the sky as a sign of His promise.

For thousands of years, God has been true to His Word. We sometimes get discouraged during the tough times in life, because we tend to focus on our particular circumstances rather than the promises of God.

We must remember the rainbow. God is true to His Word. He can be trusted.

Janine 1st day in Dowell (Playgroup)

1st day
Janine woke up rather late today. I have to carry her to school while she had milk. I told her that nobody carry their milk bottle to school. So when we reached she passed me her 3/4 finished milk and asked me to keep. Throughout the session she played alone and she willingly share her toys with her new classmates. The class is about 10 children in size, with 2 teachers. Beside her and another 2 girls all her classmates were accompanied by their parent. She also helped to keep the toys when the session was about to end. She wore her shoes with the help of the teacher and Q-up for toto train out.

2nd day
Janine woke up at 8am today.. so at least it doesnt seems too rush for me to send her to school. she woke up all excited to change and tie her hair, told me to put on hair clip for her too.. was drinking her milk while we walked to her school, then half way she told me to keep her bottle... hahahha cuz i told her to finish her milk before she reach school cuz nobody bring milk bottle to school... hahahha

when she reached there, she Q up and let teacher check her hands went in and remove her shoes and placed them in the rack all by herself.. then they Q up to wash hands then i left for work... so far everything still ok

today was wy turn to monitor her from outside. she did colouring today.. was very happy cuz teacher gave her 2 stars. We were glad that we have taught her the correct way of holding a pencil because wy can see some parent struggling to teach their kid the correct way to hold a pencil.

They have music and dance session today too.. Janine happily dance and clap her hands accordingly as the music start but the rest were quite blur.. wy was telling me she seems more advance in the class compare to the rest of the kids but I think it might be because she has the exposure to such activities in Children Church Playgroup. She used to be very blur there too.. now we can leave her unattended throughout the 2hrs service and pick her up after service.

hopefully she will be more independent after tom cuz parents are not allowed after tom.
