My Sweetie

5mth and 1 wk

Janine is becoming more active physically and has a greater range of movement. She can turn and twist in all directions when placed on a mattress or floor and rolls from her back to her stomach. When lying on her tummy she may get up on her hands and knees in an effort to crawl, and will be able to move a short distance, but she is yet to master the complete crawling action. She may start by crawling backwards first as instinctively she will push rather than pull herself. Her arms are now strong enough to hold her upper body weight.

She can stand if supported, sits with slight support. When held standing upright she may try to bend and straighten her legs as if to jump. She enjoys being able to feel her own body weight when standing or pushing her body up off the ground with her arms.

She can hold on to a bottle, manipulate objects by turning her wrist, and pick up an object with each hand, and she reaches out to grasp things using one arm. She enjoys sitting up because she can use both her hands to grasp objects and explore. She explores objects through shaking, rattling, throwing and dropping them. She is still learning to open her hands fully.

She is very interested in small particles like crumbs, small toys, and buttons and will examine them in detail so you need to be careful because they usually all end up in her mouth. She will stretch out for objects that are beyond her reach, and she is learning to twist and bend her body so that she can extend further. She may end up toppling over on to her tummy when she reaches out too far.

Janine is officially 5mth old now.

Some new pictures for you to enjoy... Janine now weighs 6.64kg and is 64cm tall.

She will speak to us using vowels that are interspersed with more consonants and she has more control over sounds, using a variety of tones, pitches and speeds when she talks. She will vocalize her feelings and coo, gurgle and giggle when she is pleased, and grunt, growl or complain when she is displeased. She will blow bubbles and will begin to make new sounds, as well as repeat “O”, “Ah” and “Ge” very often. She smiles to herself in the mirror and responds to the sounds of words rather than their meaning; she may start to understand simple sentences such as “pong pong/straighten you legs/give mummy your hands/let go your hand etc". She recognizes her name and will look at you when you call her.
She will reach out to touch you and explore your face while she smiles at you. She will begin to display clear preferences for play activities and favorite toys or books....

I think Im addicted to a few things...

1) 9 Logic aka Sudoko

Every morning my 1st question to my colleague is, "MY PAPER?" It's a game what My Paper publish daily, it's a free copy but it's in chinese. It's a very simple game yet it can be very addictive.

2) Forums

Every since I became a mother, I got hook to this mummy forum. A place where we talked about kids, family, shopping, bargains, cheap stuff, offer at ntuc, cars, complains, share experiences, etc... you name it, they have it.

3) Blogging

Although you haven been receiving many updates lately but but but I really love to share my blogs with you. It's just that I am going through some difficult decision making process therefore I dont think it would be good if I share them openly....

But like what I have shared earlier, my desicion is final. I am crossing over. Thou I was told that I might get myself a new position here, I think I should not let this chance go by me. Opportunity only knocks once.... like what I told my friend, he stayed when he was counter offered a salarly package but regretted now. Cuz there isnt any other opportunity since then. And he is getting a bit sick at where he is now..... Sometimes, it is just so difficult to make certain decisions but once you made them, dont regret over it... look ahead and continue from where you left, pray hard for more open doors...

01 November 2006

Today is the first day of the month as well as a new quarter. To make it sound worse, it’s Wednesday.

It’s the “hurdler” of the week, I should say. Things are moving a little bit slower.

We have sent out some job vacancies online. I have stated clearly on the requirements, yet I still received some applicants whom don’t fit into the requirements at all.

I wonder why men (in general) just don’t like to read instructions. Firstly, it was stated clearly that a recent photograph has to be attached, but I’ve seen none.

It was stated that the applicant should have the proficiency in English and either Japanese or Korean, but they simple ignored the sentence after the AND word.

On top of that, some applicants simply drafted a 2 sentence long Cover Letter. OMG! They simply don’t see the importance of preparing a Cover Letter.

Thank God, I do receive some good ones which followed simple instructions and were meticulous enough to read thru the entire advert before clicking the submit button. Some of the Cover Letters were short yet informative. Else I think we are just wasting our money posting job vacancies online.

30 Oct 2006

Tonight is a night for celebration. Finally, I have tender my resignation. It feels like a stone off my chest.

Therefore, we went to Shashlik Steak House for a nice dinner. It's a family run business, located in Far East Shopping Mall, the 6th floor. It's a ulu place along orchard road. A run down mall which nobody partons. They are quite a extreme, either the bengs & lians hanging out in the acarde centre and billard rooms.or else those golfer who wishes to grab a good bargain.

There we were, feels like a dead-end concer. We saw the big SHASHLIK name. Happily, we entered. A uncle older than my dad welcome us. Show us to our table. We noticed something strange.

All the tables have a "reserved" tag. We thought it's such a ulu place yet it is fully booked?? It must be one of the gimmick....

The uncle showed us to a portable table, I thought huh? I've called and made a reservation and a small portable is all I get? This couldnt be right, we asked for a swop and we got another table nearer to the window.

We order 1/2 dozen of escargots, 2 soup and 2 Shashlik beef fillet. The total bill ended up to be $80.85. Not bad ah...
