So I didn't think I would ever be blogging Spider, but I like him and he's still alive, so here goes....
On the 4th of July, we were invited for a lovely BBQ at Eric and Monette's place. Near the end, stud woman Monette found and caught a tarantula in a cake lid. Seriously awesome. We thought it was cool and creapy all at once. The kids begged to bring him home....sure, what the heck. They put him in a tupperware and proceeded to give him a few names.

But I affectionately call him Spider and pretty much he's my pet...once again.
So I told the kids if he lived for 2 weeks we would get him a cage. He not only has a cage, he has his own car, crab shack, stick playground, pond and ample crickets. He's living the good life, but he's probably pretty lonely. Bummer. We did buy some crickets last time that I felt were too big. He ate most, but there were 5 big suckers that lived forever. Each morning when I came downstairs, they were on top of the crab shack mocking Spider, it made me feel bad. So today we chucked them out (literally out the front door) and got some little ones. Serves them right for mocking Spider, no more fruit for them.
Anyway, we have a pet spider. He's cute, quiet, doesn't poop (or at least I can't see it) and his cage doesn't smell, causes excitement in visitors and the kids love him. WE HAVE A WINNER! Now if we could just train him to run with me....
