My Favorite Embellishments of the Moment
I'm still loving having a new house to decorate, although I have to be creative since the budget puts a major damper on my ideas. Here are some of the things I've had fun doing lately. (However, I didn't make the pin cushion pictured above. It was a Farmer's Market splurge. Isn't it so cute?)
DI, the second-hand store, has become one of my favorite haunts. You could say I'm probably on their preferred customer list now. I know, I know, the rest of you are so envious. I've made cupcake stands, jewelery dishes, and soap dishes by gluing old dishes together. It's fun, inexpensive, and the possibilities are endless. Ironically, the middle plate on the cupcake stand below matches my grandma's china. I got it at DI here, and she lives in Georgia. You just never know what you'll find at DI. :)
I made swags from IKEA fabric and last year's Christmas ornaments.
I covered old vinyl records with scrapbook paper and made a collage of them on my bedroom wall.
Here is my favorite little bedroom retreat. I love the black vinyl chandelier silhouette.
And here is where you will find me when I'm cold, which is just about every day, now that winter is almost here.
Happy Fall!
Last week we had fun taking Alexander to the historic pioneer village that we have here. They had all kinds of fun Halloween activities for the kids. And in case any of you are very observant, you may wonder why he is wearing the same costume he had last year. We bought a GI Joe costume in September that Alexander insisted he HAD to have. Then later he got some pirate and cowboy paraphernalia because he couldn't decide what he wanted to be. In the end, he decided he wanted to be Iron Man again. I guess that means we don't have to buy a costume next year?
