Birth Story

Thought I would do this as a seperate post since some have been asking and I am sure others are totally not interested in all the gory details... I had my regular doc appt on Friday the 17th and we scheduled the induction for Tuesday April 21st becuase my doc was worried about my high blood pressure and didn't want to run the risk of developing toxemia. Since we knew for sure it was our last weekend childless we lived it up! We played with friends and stayed out late Friday and Saturday night. Then on Sunday we were kind of wishing that we had tried some of the tactics to get the baby to come sooner -like garlic pizza or whatever- becuase Mark did not want to go to work on Monday! But then on Sunday night I started having contractions at about 11:00pm. It was definitely the early early stages of labor so we went to sleep anyway and figured we would see what happened during the night. I woke up at about 1:00 with more contractions, but they still weren't bad and went back to sleep. Finally, at 3:30 I woke up again and told Mark there was no way I was going back to sleep and he better get up and get ready to go to the hospital. We got to the hospital at about 4:00am and they said I was dilated to 4 cm. Got a room then the epidural around 6:30. At about 8:30 I was checked again and not dilated any so they broke my water. After that I thought the epidural was not working becuase I still felt pain from the contractions and my left hip was killing me. They were going to call in the anesthesiologist but checked to see how things were going first. This was at about 10:30 and I was dilated to 9 cm. Well, they felt like that explained why I was feeling the pain- it was just progressing so fast! She was not totally turned in the right direction though so my doctor wanted to wait and see if she would turn on her own. In the meantime we had the nurses and everyone freaked out and running around frantically! I don't think they expected baby #1 with an epidural to be ready so fast! She did turn on her own and after pushing for about an hour our blueberry was born at about 12:30. If you know me I am not much of a crier and Mark is usually a total crying wreck, but as soon as I saw her little face I totally broke down. It was definitely the coolest experience of my life. Everything went much better than I thought possible and I am so thankful for our precious healthy little girl. Pictures to follow...

Born on April 20th (no induction! Yay!) all things went amazingly well and just got home this afternoon-baby and mom are home and doing great. I will post more info later, but I have an adorable baby to hold and would much rather be doing that :) Sorry to those that we didn't call from the hospital, I hope you will understand that things were a little hectic for us. What I have heard lately...

"Let's get you on that eliptical machine for 20 minutes and see what happens?"
"When is that baby due?"
"If it's any consolation you're very cute."
"When is that baby due?"
"Whoa, that's a lot of pink."
"Are you being induced tomorrow?"
"Is that even a maternity dress?" (like I could wear a non-maternity dress at this point...)
"Where have you been!? I get worried when you don't answer your phone!"
" I don't think you are going to make it until the meeting Wednesday"
"When is that baby due?"
"When is that baby due?"
"When is that baby due?"
"When is that baby due?"

Growth spurt?

Did Blueberry undergo a little growth spurt or did I eat too much ice cream in the last week?

*Disclaimer- The photo quality stinks and yes, I was taking the pictures of myself with my phone. I text them to my mom for updates of grandbaby #7 :-)
