Preschooler

My baby is officially a preschooler now. I can't believe how fast the past 3 1/2 years have gone.  She has been loving school and comes home wired for the rest of the day!

This was the day of her orientation when she got to paint handprints on her bag and see her school for the first time.  Little excited ya think?

I had to snap a picture as we were walking on her first day- she just thought she was the coolest thing ever :)

No hesitation at all- bye mom!

They made this life-size drawing one day at school and she was so proud to come home and hang it up.  I ooooed and aaahhhhed over it for quite a while and made sure to hang it in a spot where Daddy could see it right when he walked in from work.  After I thought we had given the due recognition, I told her I had to go change Carli's diaper and I would be right back.  While I was in the girls' room I heard her start crying and wailing dramatically.  When I came running out asking what happened she replied that, "Daddy won't think I'm cute anymore!"  I repressed my giggles long enough to ask what she was talking about.  She then pointed out that Daddy wouldn't think she was cute because her eyes were crooked!  I had to explain that her teacher had done her best, and her eyes were really perfect in real life even if the eyes on her picture were a little crooked!   She must have warmed up to the poster because she insisted on wearing that same skirt the next 3 or 4 times to school- she must have decided it was her uniform or something...
Carli even loves Blue's school.  She pointed out the window one day when we were driving out of the neighborhood yelling "preschool!"  And she was exactly right :)
I love that it is close enough to walk.  Blue likes to think she is just like the big kids that ride their scooters to the elementary school :)

June Happenings

Some photos of what we have been up to in June (you will have to click on some so you can see them bigger and get the expressions):
Maybe one day I will get around to the past 5-6 months that I skipped.  Or more likely...not.  I only have time today because I have a sick kid and can't go anywhere!
Playing dress up this morning- aren't they beautiful princesses?

Blue did not love sharing the same side of the swing, but Carli thought it was great!
Yes, that is the tiniest ponytail I have ever done-- or seen!  She always wants me to fix her hair when I do Blue's so I gave it a try and she was so pleased.  She ran to the front door when Daddy came home shouting, "Daddy!  Daddy!  Pretty!  Pretty!"

They sure love playing at Discovery Gateway-best membership ever.

Or maybe the zoo.  They love that too!
Cheese!
Good friends- a reunion a long time coming!  Just wish we had the few we are missing :(

We rode Trax downtown to the Radio Disney days and the girls loved it.  It was nice to have them out of their carseats and not having to drive :)

Facepaint was the big hit of the day!
She cried and cried when I wiped her face off that night.  She has asked everyday since then when she can have her face painted again!

Strike a pose!
This is the "princess" face paint.  I am just amazed they could do anything with her squirming the way she was

Took Blue to get another haircut--She was so excited

It turned out adorable!  She said she liked her new haircut "becuase my bangs are not poking my eyes anymore"
Carli thought it was great too
But sorry girl, it will be a long time before you get a cut ;)

I have no idea what this look is- but i love my curly Carli

I was making sandwiches and walked out of the kitchen.  Here is Blue caught red-handed helping herself to the peanut butter...  Can you see that face?
Is she thinking- Now that you caught me, what are you going to do with me?  I am so cute, you can't get mad right?
Nope.  I can't get mad.  Get a big scoop and go for it.

Oh my goodness- I love that smile!  This is what I get when she says "Cheese!"
Trying on Daddy's garden hat

She loves that we put up the bunk beds- even though the top does not have a mattress yet.  We didn't have space to store it in the basement anymore, but I don't want her sleeping up there yet

Look at that basement progress!  Mark has a couple misc items left and then... sheetrock!

Heading out for camping.  I think Mark was the most excited :)  (about packing or camping I don't know)
Our budding little photographer took this one :)
I love that my kids are great campers and we actually got some sleep (and they weren't even in our sleeping bags!)

I don't know how, but Carli fell asleep on the hike- she was all folded over and zonked

Can you see?  Her head is touching her arm, touching her knee- wowsa
My girls cuddling with me.  Too bad it was only for body heat... I don't get lots of cuddling from Carli for other reasons

I think Blue found her first crush.  She wanted to "sit next to that boy"
Thank goodness our friends let us borrow their hiking backpack- Carli was not diggin this other alternative

Eating home-grown peas and lovin it.  Good supplement for breakfast :)  I like to pick things early in the morning, and they didn't want to wait!
In the Eagle's nest at the zoo
Oh man they are cute

Carli was holding on for dear life

And Big Sis was more than willing to take care of Baby Sis

Blue loves to spin Carli
I am not sure Carli likes to be spun though

I didn't have her binky, so she settled for next best :)

The library had a little petting zoo thing.  Blue jumped right in and petted everything!
She loved the bunny
Carli however, just held onto my leg the whole time.
This is how she did minus the leg...

I love this one :)  So glad to have friends- I mean "besties".  Sisters close in age- they are a perfect match :)
The West Jordan library grand opening had characters walking around- Blue only liked them from a distance, but
she was so excited to see Ariel!

Carli loves smoothies (and messes)

Enjoying Cat in the Hat knows a lot about that!  When I say it is time to go, Carli starts to sing, "Go, go, go!"  ( I guess you have to see the cartoon to understand)

I put her in the cart with the watermelon and she was calling it a baby.  I told her it was a watermelon, so she kissed it!  Go figure.

Yep, she loves it alright.  No more kissing once it was cut though.  I told her not to eat the rind and she got a really sad face.  Sorry little one, next time I will either cut it off, or just let you go for it!
With the start of summer we have done quite a few fire pits.  Can you tell what her favorite part of that is?  I love when she says (which I hear all the time), " I have an idea!  Let's have a fire pit!"
