Sub-seum

Last Friday, 17 December 2010, my friends and I went to "Sub City Rockers" at The Substation to support Sheilah's sister who is performing at "The Balcony". Before that she went to collect the prime lens that she rented. It turns out that she rented the wrong type of lens as she could only afford to use the screw types instead of the normal ones. Luckily, I brought my camera along and I was excited to have 24mm f/1.4 on my camera for the whole night, for the first time. So Sheilah and I took turns.

It kind of dampened us when we got to know that the free performance was actually a video screening. Kind of the musicians are on the 3rd floor and we are on the first. On the 1st floor there was a projection of what was happening upstairs.

Aside from that, we came too early because Seyra's slot only begin at 11pm and we are stuck outside since 8pm or so. By the time there was Ifix, Farhan, Zul, Sheilah, Huda and me. I later met Irfan, Hazwan, Norah and Shafu and this SP guy who wears a coat to school that night.

We settled down at the doorsteps of the Peranakan Museum while we decided on what to do. I simply love how the colours on this picture turn out to be, even though I'm not sure what the composition was suppose to mean. Oh speaking of which, these photos are not edited because I AM LAZY AND I HAVE LIMITED TIME thanks. :)

I notice how I always tend to do this when it comes to dealing with new lens. Habit though. And that's not a mole. Its a splinter which got stuck somewhere around this year.

And I was kind of surprised that most of the pictures are slightly out of focus. Maybe it was this picture of a fly I took last time that I became overly particular about focusing. Maybe I've degraded. Anyway I still have to work on it.

Looking at this picture now reminds me of this video.

And we waited and waited and waited and eventually got bored because honestly, we weren't really familiar with that place and nothing is interesting. So...

We checked out the museum. Turns out that it was free admission for us students. Right lens and right place at the right time. Hehe.

Checked in. And GOOOOO. Cos we only have 25 minutes before the museum closes.

Not that we are really interested but hey, we were going nowhere out there by the streets. heh. I must admit that I have yet to brush up on my skills. The focus and composition wasn't that proper. I'm not satisfied myself. But at least its better than having nothing.

Later that night we did catch Lunar Node and Cesspit and Seyra. Lunar Node was really really tight and awesome. Cesspit was playful but messy but everyone had fun. Seyra, well I still have to listen some more to really appreciate the genre and style. Sorry :/

Anyway I didn't get the packing job offer. Tomorrow is our BBQ. I stuck on my flash. I'm prepared to get panda eyes.

Thoughts are prayers.

Dear Author,

This is a reminder. Please do not forget to cover on this beautiful prime lens, probably when you are free.

With Regards,

Life

“Lollipops turn into cigarettes. The innocent ones turn into sluts.

Homework goes in the trash. Mobile phones are being used in class.

Detention becomes suspension. Soda becomes vodka.

Bikes become cars. Kisses turn into sex.

Remember when getting high meant swinging on the playground?

When protection meant wearing a helmet?

When the worst things you could get from boys were cooties?

Dad’s shoulders were the highest place on earth and Mom was your hero?

Your worst enemies were your siblings. Race issues were about who ran the fastest.

War was only a board game. And the only drug you knew was cough medicine.

The most pain you felt was when you skinned your knees, and goodbyes only meant until tomorrow?

And we couldn’t wait to grow up?”

AOWREEN X FONZI

*chuckles*

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger

Been busy with FYP lately because people are finishing up theirs and I'm only starting on it. Sometimes I'm feel really sad, looking at myself defeating my own purpose and intentions of coming to school in the first place. Isn't year one and two more than enough for anyone to enjoy? Well I know mine is.

Well there are a lot of things to go around to. Lookup on codes, templates, animations, contents, feel and report. I never thought that I'd live to see the days that I'll be staying up late doing WORK WORK WORK! I'm willing to push aside my hobbies and stuffs but obviously, who the hell will work 24/7 for 3 weeks straight?

And after doing fyp in the morning, I accompanied Zi to look up on bikes at CQ. We talked about the price tag, the ups and downs of biking and stuffs. Then, a thought struck me.

I have been a very very veryyyy bad saver ever since I was allowed to get hold of money by my parents. If I want to start this new hobby, I'll cost me $700++ for a start? With that money, I could have started another hobby that I wanted earlier than this, RC cars. But no, I've got to change my skateboard and skate shoes. Wait, wait, oh yeah I will need to stock up on my wardrobe first. Oh shit, I've just remembered that I still want to invest on my current camera. But if I'm thinking of saving a huge sum of money, might as well I save up for a car or something.

I've always been on the go with the flow type even when it comes to expenditure. As in, if I can afford something and life comfortably till the next month, then I wouldn't hesitate to spend a little.

I guess as of now, I'll be sticking strictly to this: "Do not find things that you could do with. Instead, find things that you could do without. ". Okay, in other words, a stricter rule of separating needs and wants.

Phase 1.2

Anddddddd a follow up! Settled some fyp stuffs. I had about 6 hours sleep (under norm for me) on Thursday and Friday. Friday plans to meet up with The Usuals was cancelled due to... I dont really know why. Then Saturday, BBQ at Kak Leha's. I was more of scared than excited because deep down I know I've got hell of workload waiting.

Nevertheless, I took the positive side and enjoyed it.After all the Bbq, Bingos, Lucky draws, foods and catching up, we were all back at her house. Movie marathon from near midnight onwards. Totalled up to 4 movies. Knowing that I've got work the next day, I decided to skip the 4th movie halfway cos its kindda retarded and slept for 2hours, waking up at 6.

Bathed, went home alone and get ready for work. Oh yes, this is a Sunday already. Iron my pants, fed Rico and some housekeeping and I'm off. Suprisingly, I managed to survive the whole day without too much problems. The trick is to keep out the thought of tiredness and sleepiness from your mind. But I must admit, if it is your body's limit, you cant really do anything about it. Just saying, because I've experienced both sides myself.

OH at work, Khainam threw grapes from the 16th floor of a HDB block and Syafiq managed to catch it by mouth for quite a number of times! Zaid once. The rest of us missed it and it hit us with full of zest. (in other word, its painful sia!). I guess that's the highlight of the day other than making alot of mess and stuffs. Went home, ate, slack and blog this post. Now I await part 2/3 of this holiday.

Yesterday

So it was Firewall Technology, 80MCQ questions. It went well. I got 57/80. Pretty happy that it isnt just a borderline pass. By the time I reach question #40, I was like, "URGHHH". I then sit like an Ah Pek on a park's bench and the mouse on my lap. Too bad it wasnt comfortable with the chair like that. :/ Then something magical happened:

Question #: What is a firewall?
Choice a): A wall that uses fire to protect the network systems.

HAHAHAHAH if the test isnt weighted I would have clicked on that and make Mr Prata confused!

I had a great time going swimming with (half of) my class after the paper. Came into the pool at 11am and exited at 5 30. Capsizing and pushing little kids, taupok each other, and the other usual pools stuffs. As usual, we have to give credits to the laughing chain that made us tired more than the swimming. Its nice to be back in the waters. ceh hehe. But I spent too much money yesterday thanks to food :(

After that, Am and me decided to skate at SP even though we had spend a lot of energy on swimming itself. Since I've been doing a lot of flat land tricks I've decided to just limit myself to boxes and verts since the setup is there. It was a good skate session even though it felt kindda awkward with some of the strangers that I've never met before. Post skate lepak with Syahrul Wan Am and Jerren around JP area. As usual, we talk a lot of cock.

And I got to find out that I'm not the only one who have yet to actually start on fyp. All the best to him and all the best to us! December brings many plans. May everything be cleared by the end of it Amin.

flash

Just gotten a couple of flashbacks . I feel so bad right now. If only I could make it up to those people. :(

Friday, December 3, 2010

My time is yours my friend.

Felt kind of a waste that I didn't write down the little lines and phrases that were running through my mind during class just now. I could have written songs about positivity, negativity, social politics, retards, inspirations, love, hate. Yeah you see, quite a lot yes? I must admit, though not very humbly, that I came up with phrases that are quite of a "in the middle of norm and high" standard. But nothing beats effort yes?

And most importantly, about friendship. There are a number of people that I would like to hang out with and catch up on old times. Or new people that I might consider breaking the ice with. But I'm always hooked on to other stuffs when I go online. :/ Or I'm shy. Or just couldn't come up with anything to talk about. Or I'm scared that it's an awkward experience, even though I can act normal, but awkward is still awkward, right? I feel pathetic.

"It sits in silence, eats away at me.
It feeds like cancer. This guilt could fill a fucking sea.
Pulling teeth, wolves at my door.
Now falling and failing is all I know.

This disease is getting worse.
I counted my blessings, now I'll count this curse.
The only thing I really know: I can't sleep at night.
I'm buried and breathing in regret."

trois

Maybe I should put fascinations aside and live like a loner for the upcoming months. Just a thought.

Sunday, November 28, 2010

I may have updated my week here and there on fb, socialising and etc. Not forgetting that alot of things happened this week. But nonetheless, I shall summarise those stuffs here. I not sure on how to deliver this post but here we go!

I'm a little upset that my heelflip has turn itself off and on by itself. But looking on the bright side, I've improved on my basic tricks and learn on quite a couple of new ones. I really enjoyed playing soccer on Monday in school this week. Had a great laugh and a great ride home by Muhaimin. Other than that, the Jacks started playing takraw. I'm starting to get used to it. And, my napha was cancelled due to bad weather! 48/100 for my lab quiz :(

On the day that my brother got his PLSE results, I cant help but to notice that I came across alot of people that I know! I shall put down the names here cos blogging about it might make you fall asleep. The people I met from morning till night areeeee Faidi, Elfi, Girl with serious face, Amirah, Jun Tian, Hakim, Eecar, Mac guy, Hidayat, Natasha, Girl from 185, Nuqman, Abg Cool, Bisi and the girl from another class. I was feeling famous that day. CEH NO LAH HAHAAH!

I MUST state out this point. Only recently, the town council has decided to put this notice on this particular PILLAR. You must be thinking, so what? Its just like any other notice. Well, there is another older notice at the end of the block, making it 2 similar notices in one void deck. We had been playing pingpong for quite a couple of months and we know very well that the notice is meant for us. When we sat on the floor, we face usually that direction. We often play till late (after 10pm). Sometimes we left rubbish on the floor but hey, that's only sometimes.

I have been wanting to do this for quite some time! I know a number of guys are doing this but what the heck anyway! I think, from the first look, I look like a guy from Pakistan, Second look, like a beggar who found a formal shirt, wax, and specs. HAHAHA. I love it anyway!

Now coming to the final major event of this week. After skating in SP on Saturday, HEY NUQMAN met us and asked if we wanted to go out for supper at West Coast. Not being in car and not using my camera for quite sometime, I willingly tagged along, with Akmal, Arin, Faris, Fauzi.

Met up at 1am (rounded up) in the morning, and off we goooo! Went to Al-Amin (issit?), tapau, and sat at the jetty. There, were a group of chinese guys drinking whom we thought has just finished thier o-levels but are actually 3rd year NP students and a group of malay guys slacking.

After eating, the photographers set up their gears and started shooting while the non photogs chill back and relax.

I had problems getting a clear picture. Fauzi thought me that it was our footsteps that cause the camera to shake, making it blur. With added facts that I was on my telephoto and non-heavy duty tripod, I started to get annoyed with the blurish outcome. So I tried a few shots and luckily got away with this as on of the better shots. This morning I woke up realising that it could actually be the tides that caused it to be blur.

I decided that I had to move on to other subjects. I remembered photographs taken on tides and I though I might try it out myself. Being the first time and the fact that I love setting manual stuffs, I was really excited and and became engrossed with it.

I thought I might want to try to get some obscure shots. I have to give credits to lomography because thanks to my experiences with lomo cameras and pictures, I began to appreciate lo-fi, deep meaning and "rugged" pictures.

During post production, I noticed on how I focused on texture without even realising it. All that was on my mind while taking the pictures were sharpness and colour. Shall brush up my skills somemore once I'm free again. HEHEHE

For more (awesome) pictures though I'm not sure if you can view it, visit Areen's or my fb. Maybe I really shouldn't be blogging on a weekly basis. Tsk!

deux

I'm not usually the type who chase after things that I want but now I'm in the sudden mood for that. All thanks to Alep who gave me the ideas to look for Ken Block's cap. So, other than some full a3 printed tees, some beads for my shoe, tight fitting smart pants, pointed leather shoes, tight fitting collared shirt, new bags, and a car, these are the other things that I'd want.

I wasnt outside

So, I decided that today would be a stay home Friday night. My parents shifted the bed positions and I had to reshuffle my item placements and stuffs. Thanks to that, I was late from my intended schedule and decided to make preparations for the weekend with post-its reminders, clear up of document files, photos and admin stuffs and such. Which is actually way different from what I'ld like to accomplish tonight.

I wanted to draw something but have no idea. And by the way, I was thinking of "Golden Eagle" but ended up with "Stay Gold" because my hands were quicker than my brain.

Okay I have got to be honest. This is just a piece of paper with random crap. The red ink was kindda to make out the initials of RCPark. HAHA. With a robotic gorilla of course.

Short and simple reminder notes on my headboard. Trust me you could get the wrong impressions on some of this.

The intention of me taking photos was that I was preparing for something I had in mind. I want to create illustrations, use my past works and I have no printer. You get the idea!

I came across some interesting pages. This is the first page for one of my sketchbook.

You have no idea how obsessed I was into the underground scene last time. Yeah, last time.

Other than all the assignments in mind, I still feel like skating. And I need a new pair of skate shoes. Its wearing out real fast.

I've just started using Lightroom for all the pictures in this post except the last one because it was intentionally underexposed. It turns out that I was only at the so called "first page" when I finished editing it. There way much more feature waiting to be used. It lags like my Premiere Pro. I'm sure I could get all that settled. Now, the only software laying in my laptop but have yet to be used is After Effects. Until my next free time comes yes?
