Advance Mid-Autumn Festival

Yesterday was the advance Mid-Autumn Festival organized by the North West CDC at the garden beside my house. I bought 2 tickets, one for me and one for dear. The ticket cost $3 each and one will be entitled to goodies bag (one electronic lantern, one bottle of water, one cheapskate mooncake, and one packet of don’t know what drink) and lucky draw. We bought the tickets mainly for the lucky draw because the grand prize is a 32” LCD TV. Waited till around 9.30pm to announce the winner for the grand prize and of course we didn’t win it =< But we played with candles and took alot photos. The evening view at the garden is also very nice.

Food Food Food & Us!

The main purpose yesterday was to accompany dear to the Game Convention Asia but it ended up with something else. As usual, met dear at sembawang and took MRT to city hall. We knew that there was food fair at suntec too. Normally we will have our lunch at food fair but this time round, we wanted to have lunch at somewhere else and only go to food fair for satay (all time favorite at food fair). So we walked around the basement of suntec but there wasn’t many choices (mostly are restaurants) and the foodcourt was so packed. In the end we ended up eating at the food fair. We spend close to $20 at the food fair. Haha.

After lunch, we went to the GCA which was just beside the food fair. The GCA got nothing to see at all, everyone seems to be holding a few goodies bag but dear said we need to do quest in order to get them. We only stay inside for like 30 mins with no free gift, the only free gift is a Fairyland dvd and I think I played that before. Then, we spend our time at arcade, window shopping and we ate Marvelous Cream too!

Later in the evening, it’s time to decide where to have dinner. Many choices of restaurant came to our mind but we ended up eating at Sushi Tei, it has been so long since we last ate there. This time round we ordered Soft Shell Crab Tortilla which we have never tried before or maybe it is a new dish or special dish. I must say it is damn nice. The crab is crispy and the sauce is sweet with a little little sour. We ended up with a bill of 40. It was so 满足 满足 满足!

movies

We watched two movies last 2 weeks, The Proposal which dear wanted to watch, and Final destination 4, which I wanted to watch.

Personally I found that the proposal is good, but not great. Even though it is funny but the story plot is very predictable... Nevertheless, it's still a great movie for fantasy driven dear to watch.

Final destination 4 is yet another final destination story plot just that people dead differently this time. In final destination 3, story began after the teens had an accident while riding roller coaster. This time round, in FD4, it's about cars. Well, I know people are there not for the story but for the gore and vicious ways that the victims are getting killed. Most people will find it very violence and the effects are disgusting, however I felt that the effects and gore is just another game that I used to play. Even gore games that I've played (gears of war 2), I don't even find it gore anymore!!

Saturday
Met up with Tiff, Pris, JY, Fanny, and KT to celebrate Pris bel
ated birthday at Ion Watami. Met up with Fanny JY and KT first to get Pris birthday present. We got her a perfume from far east and after that we met up with Tiff. We decided to settle down for dinner at Watami, waiting for Pris at the same time. Something happened in Watami and we were given a $5 voucher each (details can be found on Fanny’s blog. I lazy to say it here).

Monday

Went for dental visit because my gum has been bleeding when I wash my teeth. It has been so many years since I last visit a dentist (I know we should at least visit a dentist every 6 mth-1yr). The dentist said I got some kind of gum disease or don’t know what because I never brush my gum, there are “teeth stone?” in between my gum which cause the bleeding. The washing part was horrible; it’s like a nightmare because she used some equipment to dig out all the stone? I thought all my teeth is going to drop when she wash my teeth. Hope my gum can recover as it still bleeds when I wash my teeth.

Chomp Chomp dinner gathering

On the first note, here's Wai Chiong in his botak and interesting expression.

Went out with a bunch of friends and had dinner at Chomp Chomp Food Centre. 7 of us total, squeezing into a car that is meant for 5 people. Those at the back were complaining along the trip. We reached there around 8pm and the parking lots were mostly occupied by other drivers, needless to say finding seats in the hawker centre. When we finally found our parking space and seats, we were already close to dying from hunger. I've long heard of the great food but reaching there most conveniently requires personal transportation.

Foods we have ordered are delicious, i especially like the BBQ chicken wing and Stingray. One interesting point there, is the EXTRA EXTRA large sugar cane drink. Pricing at $2.50 each, typically requires 2 people to finish the whole giant cup. Despite the quantity, I finished the whole cup alone. As for the bean curd, the stall sells many different flavors. Close to 20 different varieties if i'm right... We ordered mango, chocolate and strawberry. NONE has the taste of soya bean. The chocolate flavor tasted like milo, strawberry tasted like strawberry milk, mango tasted like pudding...

Afterwhich we went to Mac Ritchie Reservoir and chatted for some while before we heads back home.

Yeah~ I’m so happy~ I passed both my bridging Econs and maths. I logged in to the student portal yesterday night to check if there is any mail and to my surprise there is a mail saying I can view my result. It was such a coincidence as me and Tiff was still talking about the result yesterday morning. I’m so happy as I did quite well even though no matter how well I did I just need a pass for it. And it means that… I’m entitled to complete my degree in 2 years time (provided that I can successfully pass all the 8 units in the 2 years). Happy for Tiff cause she passed both bridging too.

fixing singtel internet browsing problem

I'm getting more questions from friends in msn about having problems with their web browsing experience while surfing using singnet broadband. Here is a temporary solution to solve the problem with the use of singnet proxy. There's some tiny disadvantages but that's the best solution now.

For those who knows their networking, here's the proxy address
proxy.singnet.com.sg
port 8080

For those who doesn't know how to setup proxy, here's a guide for you

For Internet Explorer Users

tick "Use a proxy server for your LAN(These settings will not apply to dial-up or VPN connections)".
Then enter
proxy.singnet.com.sg
in the address field. As for the port, enter 8080

After click advanced, and tick "use the same proxy server for all protocols."
Click ok until you return back to your browser, and you are done!
(Remember to clear your browser cache if you still experience problem)

Follow the highlighted buttons to delete your browser cache.

For Firefox browser

Go tools -> options, and you will come to the screen above. Follow the highlighted buttons to complete proxy setup.
