Military Camouflage Wear Among Civilians

I noticed a military camouflage backpack among my accessories and that sighting inspired this photo. we have two Kellys*, a Tommy, and a Jacob each wearing civilian fashions influenced by military camouflage. The ladies wear Mixis tanks and Barbie camouflage pants. Tommy wears his original outfit. Jacob has borrowed his long shorts from Oliver from Hannah Montana.

Does anyone like the look? I consider it a "youth" look. I would feel awkward wearing it myself although I have and would wear military-themed jackets, blouses, and dresses. Camouflage feels more informal to me.

* Our Kellys are Aoshima's Lady's Mission Kelly Jackson (left) and Mattel's Teen Kelly, a Starr friend (right). And no, the room was NOT especially cold. LM Kelly is just "built" that way ;-D

Are All the Asian-Produced Dolls Slim Like Momoko? See Lady's Mission

You’ve seen how many produced-for-Asian-markets fashion dolls have small builds. If you are familiar with MaBa’s Barbie and Takara’s Jenny, you might think Asian market fashion dolls all have small body frames.

Blant! That’s the buzzer ringing. Wrong. Some female Asian market action dolls or articulated fashion dolls have sturdy frames. The Aoshima/Skynet Ladies Mission and Girls' Mission action dolls as well as the Takara/BBi have definite weight to them. Nothing missish or delicate about them. Plus, they have poseability.

The Lady’s Mission action dolls have full names, numbers, and occupations. Their faces are usually bland. Their hair can be smooth and flat like No. 21 shown below or rough and coarse like that of Kelly Jackson, Lady's Mission Slim Body, No. 4 Basic Infantry. Let’s look at Aoshima/Skynet action doll from Madam Ryu Reika, No. 21 who is a “Street princess.”

P.S. Madam Ryu Reika comes with two formal dresses, one a blue print mini and the other a long red Qi Pao (cheongsam or mandarin gown) and two pairs of high heeled shoes. The "leather" underpants she wears in these photos is part of her original outfit.

Additional photos of this action doll are here in my Webshots.

"Borrowing" Mixis Fashions - Impromptu Fashion Show

Ever wonder what other dolls or action figures can wear Mixis fashions? I had submitted photos for a thread on this query at the Men With Dolls board. Below are some additional photos of other dolls and action figures wearing Mixis fashions.

Sideshow Buffy wearing LE Rosa's brown shrug and LE Opal's pants, Mego Diana Ross wearing LE Emerald's turquoise tank and LE Rosa's denim mini, and Lanard I-Girl Rio wearing LE Opal's orange tank and LE Emerald's denim mini.

BBi Perfect Body Hispanic wearing Happy Family Alan's shirt and LE Opal's pants, Jakks Pacific G.I.R.L. Force Kulture Shock Jaz wearing Sunshine Opal's sundress, Get Set Club Fiona wearing Sunshine Houda's sundress, and Get Real Girl Gabi wearing LE Opal's orange tank and LE Emerald's denim mini.

Fashion Fever Barbie (Belly button body) in LE Emerald's tank and LE Opal's pants, Ladies Mission Nun Kyoko Tenryu in a Ken tee shirt and LE Rosa's denim mini (stockings, boots, and cross her own), and Jakks Pacific Jaz showing the back of her borrowed sundress that - yay! actually closes - fits.

Surprise! Paparazzi Bait Adele in Sunshine Rosa's sundress.

Confronting the Top Shelf - Deboxing Shelf Unit A

The top shelf of the shelving unit I will be calling Unit A holds 9 NRFB Smartees dolls, 1 NRFB Mattel Batgirl on Batcycle, and 1 MIB Aoshima/Skynet Ladies Mission Street Princess.

1. The Ladies Mission figure will keep her box. It's got photos of other dolls in the series, and the cardboard isn't cheesy. I like this doll so she's a keeper. For now, I'll leave her on that top shelf.

2. The Mattel Batgirl ... I don't care for her face. I'll set the head aside in the Heads box I have. Those I will probably give away. The outfit seems too gaudy for her to fight criminals at night so I'm saving that for a future doll/action figure costume shop. I can use her Poser body for another figure. (Yes, yeah, yay!)

The Batcycle, I'm keeping to customize. It's customized somewhere online. (Need to find that link. Possibly Brad Gorby's website? The box can be broken down and discarded. It's thinner cardboard with a clear plastic front.

3. The Smartees figures. Okay here's where the procrastination bug bites. The boxes aren't sturdy, but they have photographs of the series. They're protecting the dolls from dust. Sigh. Plus there is the question of what to do with the accessories included - keep them with the dolls or in a separate, themed box? Have to decide on that. Hmmm ...

Now for the Smartees dolls themselves. I am inclined to keep all of them. Sure they have those tiny bound feet, and they have the same face/head mold with different facial screening. Since they have different professions, they would probably not all be in the same photo or photostory.

So that's the situation with the top shelf of Shelf Unit A. Nothing to be sold from there and only one head to donate.

Habit Query - Need Priest Garb to Match Nuns' Robes

Note: I have a priest - former Commander Adama from Majestic Studios. However, I need a priest's robe for him to match the nuns' habits. Any suggestions or information welcome.

Lady's Mission Kyoko Tenryu and Sugary Cafe au Lait Momoko are the nuns in this photo. (Alas, Momoko's hair peeps out from her headdress, cowl? Technically, none of her hair should show, right? I'll check on this later.) Girl's Mission Mai approaches the nuns with a question.

U.S. Source for Girl's Mission and Lady's Mission

If you do not want to place an international order, you can find the Girl's Missions figures and some of the Lady's Mission figures at Nouveau Toys. The link to that online store is

http://www.nouveautoys.com/index.html

I recommend Nouveau Toys because I had placed two orders with them last year. I received prompt and courteous replies to my e-mail queries, well and neatly packaged boxes, items received as expected (NRFB) and items received when expected. Funds permitting, I would order from them again.

My first orders with Nouveau Toys were for Lady's Mission dolls no longer carried by HobbyLink Japan. I ordered the Lady's Mission No.24 described as "Woman doctor(obstetrician)" - Tanaka Miina and Lady's Mission #22 described as a "resistant covert agent" who also works as a nun - Sister Kyoko Tenryu. Please note: Sister Tenryu comes with a standard black and white nun's habit and a black pleather habit that laces up the sides. I then ordered the Lady's Mission #21 Street Princess - Madam Ryu Reika.

Lady' Mission Slim Body B aka Kelly Jackson Pics

DirtyDawg from Men With Dolls asked about photos of my new Lady's Mission Slim Body figure from Aoshima/Skynet. Here are a few that Kelly graciously allowed.

Slim Tan Aoshima Received!

The Slim Tan Aoshima or Lady's Mission Basic Infantry doll has joined my doll and action figure group. I haven't removed her from the box yet -- want to get photos of her in-box AND out -- but I like her face screening and her coloring. The jeans jacket and pants are cute, too. Wonder if they will fit my Perfect Body women or the Get Sets or the Mixis?
