LIFE IS FINE WHEN YOU ARE NINE

When you are a nine year old boy, summer is a very busy time.  There is tennis at 8:00, swimming at 11:00 and then baseball at 5:00.  The best part of all is that he is ready for bed at night so he can get up the next day and do it all over again.

ROAD TRIP 2013

We went on a little road trip with Ned and Fayrine this summer.  We drove up through Heber valley and stopped and got some cheese and then on across Wyoming, Nebraska and into Iowa for an antique fair in a little town called Walnut.  After spending the day in Walnut we went on to Des Moines and then down to a town called Winterset where we saw the Covered Bridges of Madison Co. - John Wayne's birth place - and Fon"s and Porter Quilting Shop.  Next stop was Kansas City Mo. where we had Kansas City BBQ at a restaurant called Jacks Stack.  Awesome BBQ!  Then it was on to Branson Mo.  We spent two days in Branson, took in a couple of shows, went on a duck ride and did some shopping plus ate ate ate.  After leaving Branson we drove back across Kansas over to Denver up through the rockies and home.  Whew!

Father Peterson

Adams roommates Jess and Gwen got married this weekend. Adam was asked to officiate the ceremony. It's nice to know he can perform that function. Maybe for Andrea and Casey's next wedding he can marry them. Anyway, we are so proud.

A rock and a surprise

During my hike yesterday up to Timpanogos caves, I bought Riley a special rock in the gift shop. Here he is in our backyard trying to find out the secret hidden inside.

Girls Weekend

So it was time once again for our biennial girls weekend. This time around it was Melissa, Marissa, Hillary, Hannah and me. On the first day we did a girls lunch and then a movie. Later that night the girls brought their kids and we all came over to mom and dads and had tinfoil dinners and s'mores in the backyard. The next day we headed up to Heber and had a really nice "progressive" dinner where we went to a bunch of different stores and got some fruit, a baguette, some delicious desserts and then we went to a little artisan cheese shop we heard about and got a selection of cheeses. After we had gathered our food we went to a park and had a picnic and sat around and talked and talked and talked. During this time, Melissa had invited Riley to come hang out with her kids because Riley and Ethan got along so well at the tinfoil dinner. While we were having our fancy cheese party, Melissa's husband Derik took the kids fishing where Riley caught a fish! He had the best time. The next day we went and got pedicures and did some shopping. Our toes look fabulous. Unfortunately I didn't think to get enough pictures of us all. We took Sunday off to be with our families and I bailed on Monday's activities because it was Reeds and my 14th anniversary. But the girls took all their kids to the splash pad in Spanish Fork. Our final day together we decided to be ambitious and hiked up to Timpanogos caves. It was So much fun and we even got to initiate our youngest member to our girls day by having Melissa's daughter Kate come with us. After we completed the hike we had a nice lunch together and then said our good-byes. The time seemed to go so fast but it was so much fun and such a good reminder that despite the time and distance between us and who we were in high school we are still all good friends. I really didn't take enough pictures, but here are the ones I did take.
