Wah, yum yum......., so tasty, this Ipoh Hor Fun! Thumbs up....
Arrrrrr, this way faster....., slurp, slurp.......slurrrrrrppppp,
I would try to bring my kids for a walk or cycling every weekend so that I can spend quality family time with them. After a good round of walking and exercising at Desa Park City lakeside, we decided to go for our morning breakfast. I wanted to have it in a cozy and quiet place so that I can chat peacefully with my kids. We drove to Desa Aman Puri which is not very far away from Desa Park City and settled down to have our breakfast at Kpoh Restoran that serves authentic Ipoh food. I have driven by this area many times but never tried the food here, although Kpoh has been for around a year or so. What amazed me is that, after a year plus, they still managed to keep this restaurant squeaky clean. No wonder it is categorized by the local Town Council as Class A Restaurant which means the highest standard for cleanliness.
Here are the "Ipoh Mari" fares we ate,
My daughter loves Ipoh Hor Fun, so we ordered this bowl of Kai Si (Chicken Meat) Hor Fun plus bihun (rice vermicelli) for her. This flavourful Hor Fun has generous serving of Ku Chai (Chinese Chives) and shredded chicken meat. On top of that it is garnished with spring onions and prawns. Although the soup looks clear, it is very tasty and delicious. My daughter commented that Kpoh's Hor Fun tasted very much nicer than the ones that she usually eat at those kopitiam franchise outlets. I guess she would bug me again to eat here next weekend! LOL!The Hor Fun cost RM4.50 (USD1.40) per bowl.
My wife settled for the curry mee (RM4.50, USD1.40) which the friendly owner told us is different from those creamy types you usually find in KL. The spicy chilly based gravy tasted a little like the Curry Mee I had in Pantai Remis. For those who like spicy stuff, this curry mee is for you.
I normally eat Chee Cheong Fun with Har Ko (prawn paste) but this time around I tried out the Mushroom Chee Cheong Fun at this outlet. The Chee Cheong Fun has light gravy with a tinge of sesame oil aroma. It is garnished with Chee Mau (fried sesame), crispy shallots, mushroom slices and spring onions. I like the smooth chee cheong fun and the light but savoury gravy. A plate like this cost RM4.00 (USD 1.20)
For some light snack we ordered the Sengkuang (Turnips) which is a turnip based filling kuih (snacks) wrapped with foo pei (bean sheets, tau poey in Hokkien, lobak skin). These ‘Sengkuang’ is crispy and fresh. Actually, it taste a bit like the TeowChew ‘Kuang Chiang Kuih’ which has similar ingredients with this Sengkuang wrap. The Sengkuang tasted yummy with the chilly that accompanied it. The Sengkuang wrap cost RM3 for 3 pieces.
The clean and tidy restaurant. Good for family meals and friends outing . Menu with photos to help you with your choice of food to order.
Refreshing and cool Chrysanthemum tea. (RM1.60)
