when cousin kaya asked if i was interested in selling my clothes at a flea market, i jumped at the chance. lol..
i have too many clothes that i didn't wear anymore..and they are jamming up my wardrobe.
It's not the first time i'm actually throwing out my clothes. In fact, i've cleared many, many rounds and my closet is still overloaded :(
The ease and convenience of online shopping is definitely not helping. haa..
kaya said the flea market would be held at Lucky plaza, so the target group would be the domestic helpers. We would be selling our stuff at like 5 dollars per item at most, cos that's the 'market rate' there.
And we were told the maids are damn kua zhang one, they see your stuff like 宝 like that.
I borrowed my parents' biggest luggage for the flea, and stuffed all my clothes neatly into it. Kaya say must like that roll then can save space, haha.. and she was right.

i managed to stack 3 to 4 layers of 'clothes-roll' in it. i think i got almost 50 pieces in that luggage. Plus one whole bag of unwanted bags, and 2 more big plastic bags of clothes.

kaya took a cab over from her place and my mom actually helped me to load my stuff into the taxi. Luggage was darn heavy! If check in, confirm overload, heh..
We reached lucky plaza. I was shocked to see the number of people here. It was an eye-opener. Have you ever gone to Lucky plaza on a Sunday?
Kaya's friends were there already. We had 3 booths. Kaya and i shared a booth together, and we split the rental. It was 90 bucks per booth.
I was hoping to recuperate the rental cost and make some profit, ahha..
My clothes all very nice one lor.. and some of them are brand new. The average cost of the clothes are 27 bucks and i'm selling them at like 4 for 10 dollars?
Definitely making a loss la, but as compared to throwing them away, i think it would be better for me to sell it to someone who will wear it instead.
and yes, the maids really damn kua zhang one. When we arrived at our booth, they were already standing there asking us to quickly open our luggage.
And when we unloaded our stuff onto the wooden crate (our booth), they just went crazy rummaging through the clothes.
Yup, we were standing on stools the whole time, so we could have a bird's eye view of the shoppers.

Some of our stuff got stolen. i think i lost 2 bags and a few pieces of clothes. Oh well.. guess it's inevitable given that it's actually quite chaotic. Like 10 maids digging through your clothes and each picking up something to ask the price.
It was an experience indeed! A 5-hour of bargaining, cashiering, garnering sales by shouting "4 for 10 dollars" to "3 for 5 dollars" and eventually to "1 for 1 dollar"!
haha.. i think we were the most enthusiastic lot of girls there and even auctioning some of our nicest pieces of clothes. lol..
Yes, i had fun. But honestly, it is my first and probably last time. cos it's really hard work, haha.. the place was stuffy and full of dust. we were all sweaty and blowing out our runny noses the whole time.
A photo of unglam us. See my eyes and nose is all red from sneezing and all.. Even the beauty mode on my Samsung note3 camera cannot save us. haha..
At around 5.45pm, me and kaya left for her mom's birthday dinner at Keppel bay.
Woohoooo~
after deducting the cab fare and rental, i made around 200 bucks.
Though i wouldn't say i made a profit, cos i sold everything at a loss. haha..
So u can roughly calculate how many pieces of clothes i sold if each was sold at an average of 2 bucks.
I went back with an empty luggage :)
Worth it? u ask..
not worth the effort i think, but definitely worth the experience and of cos, an emptier wardrobe!
Thank you kaya for the lobang!!!!! :D
Last but not least, a pretty photo of awesome keppel bay.
i wanna come to dine at the Privé one day!
