Best Bath Time Ever!

We were giving Hailey a bath the night after Christmas and we had to have Jonny run to find the camera...

We were able to catch it though! It was so fun!

Merry...X-mas?

I warn you before reading this. It is finals week and I have been doing a lot of studying. Keep that in mind.

I would like to discuss the word "x-mas"

Christmas was originally established to celebrate the birth of an individual who is the redeemer of the world and the salvation of mankind. Christ, however, apparently shares his birthday with another individual who has done just as much for humanity...the letter X.

I mean think about what the letter X has done for us! It made it possible to spell xylophone, it has been the leading authority on examining broken bones, and it's so easy to write! All hail X!!!

We should just take "In god we trust" off our currency and put "In 'X' we trust". No terrorist would dare mess with us then! We got the letter "X" on our side baby!

Seriously, it's a religious holiday. Why are we taking the religion out of it? To appease the atheists? If they want a holiday they can start their own religion called "Darwin-mas"

Think about it. You could have a little tadpole Santa and his 8 flying amoeba. Make a snowman shaped like a chimp. Wrap presents and blow them up in honor of the Big Bang Theory. It could be great fun! (actually that blowing up stuff sounds pretty cool...)

This is something that has bugged me for a long time. Every time I hear someone say "X-mas" I want to chuck my shoe at their head. In 3 cases I have done just that.

Where does it end?

Child: "Oh father, thank you so much for the dreidle on this holiest of days, X-ukka."

Other child: "Yay! Happy Kwanz-x!"

At least if we take Christ out of Christmas we will still have Santa. Who is a figure for a person called St. Nick...who was a religious person...hence the name "Saint"... You see the problem?

Bottom line, if atheists want to get rid of Christmas, then they shouldn't get the day off! See how anti-God they are then.

Tune in next week as Jonny analyzes the psychotic dream of a small child who fantasizes about glorified kitchen utensils fighting tyrannical rodents in a production known as "The Nutcracker"

(yeah it's kinda messed up when you think about huh?)

Christmas Tradition

As a kid (and lets be honest even now) I always loved laying underneath our Christmas tree and looking up at the lights and the ornaments. I decided to start Hailey early.

I think she liked it! I'm so proud of her.

Family Pictures

We were eating at this little Bar-B-Que place in Provo and I entered our names in a drawing for free family pics and we won! We were able to go this week and get our pictures taken and got a couple prints and the CD. I love our little family!

Latest Project

My latest project has been making a Christmas tree skirt. I've really enjoyed working on it and learning new skills, and I love having something besides one of those cheap white things with the glitter that you can get from Wal-Mart.

I took close ups of each piece so you can see the beading that I am working on putting on it.
Little glass beads for tree ornaments.

This one is hard to see but there are little pearls over the little white dots between the candy canes.

Little bells in the middle of the snow flakes...thank you for help with that idea Ashlyn

And gold sequins with red beads where the holly berries are. I am excited to have something that can be so personal for our family.

Next year....stockings (Thanks Lindsey!)

Daddy Daycare

***WARNING***
Not for the weak stomached or feint of heart

After thanksgiving break, Cassie had to go back to work to support my 8 year path to graduation.

She loves me.

Since my classes are mostly in the evening, I get to watch Hailey during the day.

The kid is still alive so I'm assuming I'm doing pretty well. Hailey and I have an arrangement. She agrees not to poop on me and I agree not to drop her off at the nearest hospital.

It's a good deal.

Yesterday was a little rough because she just wanted to cry and be held all day. This makes playing video gam.... I mean doing homework very difficult. Little did I know that yesterday's grumpiness was a prequel to today's hell.

Apparently kids can do this thing where they don't poop for like 3 days and then they cash in. Hailey has developed this pattern of bowl movement. Yesterday she was grumpy because it was the end of day three. I think you know where this is going.

People...I have no words.....to describe...the horror... of today.

...

And it's only noon.

And to make things better, we are not adequately prepared for day 4.

I have been awake for 2 and 1/2 hours and changed her diaper 3 times. We ran out of wipes after the first time. This means Jonny has to find alternatives to cleaning her backside. Oh, and Cassie doesn't have her phone on her today so her advice is out. Luckily our friend Merideth did have her phone on her and advised me that using Clorox Disinfecting Wipes was a bad idea.

What?! I thought a wipe was a wipe!

So after wrapping a sweaty gym sock around my face to mask the smell, I went in for round 2 with no wipes. Just a rag.

You know what a warm rag is not good at cleaning up?

A 3 gallons of smelly poo with the consistency of mustard.

I hope no one is eating. If you are, apologize to your keyboard for me since your lunch just made a comeback.

After a poor job of cleaning said bum, I tried to put the diaper in the Diaper Genie. For those of you with kids, you know when the Diaper Genie is packed to the top and you still try to squeeze one it? You know what that does to a diaper? Makes it act like a sponge. Just for future reference.

But wait! It gets better!

yay.

During round 3... I was pretty sure she was done for the next 15 minutes. I was wrong.

Right in the middle of wiping...she released the atom bomb of poo all over me.

I screamed like a 6 year old girl and FREAKED OUT!

And I'm pretty sure she smiled at me.

Unfortunately our arrangement we had won't work out because Cassie and I have another arrangement. She comes home to a safe and happy Hailey and I don't have to go to the nearest hospital.

Well, I have to go boil my hand now. Have a great day everyone!

This Thing is so Fun!

Hailey loves this little seat! She sits in it while I get ready for work in the mornings and smiles, kicks, and talks to her little friend the whole time.

2 Month Check Up

I took Hailey for her two month check up and immunizations today and the girl is growing like a weed. She is 1/2 an ounce away from being 12lbs, 24 1/4 inches long, and her head is 39 1/2 inches around. She moved from the 25th percentile at 2 weeks to the 75th percentile in all three things.

She did very well when she got her shots. She cried as they were giving them to her but she was done pretty quick once they were done.

Thanksgiving in Phoenix

We had such a fun time being in Phoenix for Thanksgiving this year. We were able to spend a lot of time with Mike, Ashlyn, and Avery, and also our friend Kevin and his family.
We had a great Thanksgiving dinner/lunch with Mike and Ashlyn.
Avery learned the art of putting olives on your fingers. She was so interested in her fingers I couldnt get her to look at the camera very well!
And I even got to eat while it was still warm!
One of the evenings we were there Jonny tried to help Mikie fix his DVD player set up. Avery really wanted to help. She even helped hold the flashlight for a minute but then she just ran off with it.
Hailey was good practice for Avery since her little sister will be there soon. She does very well and is very soft

She was even willing to share her favorite lamb with Hailey.

I didnt get any pictures of Kevin and his family but we had a lot of fun over there also. We hung out, ate more good food, Jonny got made fun of (always a good thing) by Kevin's dad, and just loved being there.

We had a great Thanksgiving and miss everyone.

Bath Time with Daddy

Within the past week Hailey has learned to smile! When I say she learned to smile I dont mean accidental, "I dont have any control of my body" or gas smiles. I mean on purpose, happy, she knows who we are, smiles. She is all smiles after a good nap, eating, and diaper change. We can lay her on the ground and lay next to her and she just smiles and coos up a storm. Its probably the cutest thing I have ever seen. The other time she is all smiles is bath time.

This little girl loves her baths! If she is being fussy and we take her in the bathroom and turn on the water she stops crying. Its so fun! Here are a couple videos. And if any of you ever doubted that Jonny would turn into a big softy there should be no room for question in your minds after you watch the videos.

Thanksgiving Tag

Ever since we had Hailey we have been so blessed and have so many thing to be thankful for so I am excited to do this tag because I wanted to write a similar blog anyway now its just in the form of a tag.

Here's a game of tag
That should be great fun
Count ten of your blessings
Begin with number one.
Count to number ten
Then tag four others,
You can tag your friends,
Sisters, children or mothers.

1. Jonny - He is such a good daddy and has always been so loving and supportive of me. This is a favorite position. Hailey goes right to sleep becuase she is so warm and daddy loves keeping her warm.
2. Hailey - my sweet baby girl. She has brought us so much joy and has taught me a whole different capacity of love 3. Family - I have been blessed with such a loving and fun-loving family on both sides.

4. The Gospel - I have been reminded that my testimony and the covenants I have made are the sole most important things in my life. We are so blessed that we can be sealed as forever families.

5. Our Ward - For the first time since we have been married I feel loved and accepted, and like I am an important member of my ward. The bishop knew who we were before our neighbor introduced us, they were working on getting our records before we asked to have them sent, they brought meals and gifts when Hailey was born even though we had only been in the ward 3 weeks, and so many people that I am still trying to get to know, know our names and who we are. For the past 2 1/2 years this has been such a struggle for me as we have just been a number lost in the wards we have been in. I believe I will be sad to move for once.

6. Jan Schiffman - She has been such an awesome friend and support to me. She hung out with me all summer, helped me through my pregnancy, was there for me while I was in labor since Mom couldnt make it, and is such an awesome example for me as a mother, a friend, a member of the gospel, and an advocate for saving the planet! (c; I have also borrowed so many things from her before I was pregnant and after, for Hailey so we didnt have to buy everything right away.

7. Our new car - We were able to trade in our Altima that was headed for a lot of problems, for a newer car that is nicer and one that wont make me feel like I am driving my daughter around in a sled when it snows.

8. Brownies - started craving them towards the end of my pregnancy and never really stopped.

9. Lower Gas Prices - I saw gas for 1.75 the other day. Enough said

10. Christmas - I love this time of year. Spending time with family, the decorating, the music, the extra kindness people show, being able to go home to warmer weather, the lights...I love everything that this time of year brings.

I tag Mom, Ashlyn, Lippy, and Chiara, and anyone else who wants to tell what they are thankful for. Just copy and paste the poem and have fun thinking about what you are thankful for. Thanks Laura

Avery's Visit...a little late

So this is already on Ashlyn's blog like a week ago but we got some cute pics of Avery and Hailey while they were here visiting. We had a great time while Mikie and Ashlyn were here. The boys went to a BYU football game and Ashlyn and I hung out with the girls at the mall and at home.
Avery was so cute. She always wanted to "see the baby".
It was like a game for Mikie and Jonny to get good pictures! That little girl was always on the move!

Out of all the fun electrical toys and everything that are still within toddler reach at our house Hailey's carseat was one of Avery's favorite toys.
We are excited to be able to go down to Phoenix to spend Thanksgiving with them!

Hailey's First Photo Shoot

I went to the fabric store on Saturday and it was so busy that people were taking numbers and when I got my number 36 they were on number 93. While all of us crafty ladies were standing around I was shown how to make little tu-tus out of tule and ribbon. So I picked up some of that also and made one for Hailey. Its amazing the things you can learn from being forced to hang out with other ladies at a craft store. We got so many adorable pictures and one that I can not look at without dying laughing. Enjoy, she's a sweetheart.

Finally Asleep...

So for the past few days we have been trying to put Hailey on a little more of a regulated schedule for naps and stuff and it was working pretty well.......untill today. I'm not sure what happened but from around noon to around 1:00 in the morning she refused to sleep for more than about 15 minutes at a time, like every two hours, no joke. What was really amazing is she never really got all that fussy. She did a teeny bit but it was more complaining than crying and only for very short intervals. The down side is I hardly got anything done. We tried everything to get her to nap but with no success. However at 2:00 in the morning she is finally fast asleep and I'm pretty sure she is going to stay that way...probably for three days. How and why she decided to go on a "sleep-fast" today I have no idea. I was exhausted at 10:00! I'm just happy she is finally asleep so I can get some sleep!

(No this picture is not of her sleeping now, I just thought it was a cute picture of her sleeping on the couch last Sunday)

I'm Not Letting Go...

No matter what!
She slept this way for about 30 minutes today! I thought it was pretty funny.

Hi Everybody!

Here's your video Mimi. She's gotten good enough that I could catch it.

Oh and she's naked because we are in between dirty jammies and church clothes. This sometimes happens when church is at 1pm.

Pictures of our Sweetie

There's not a whole lot going on with us right now. Jonny is studying hard and I am enjoying my time home with Hailey before I have to go back to work at the beginning of December. Hailey is growing quickly. I took her to the dr last week and we are now treating her for acid reflux, but we found out she is over 10lbs! Here are a few recent pictures just from every day stuff, a couple were taken with my phone so the colors are a teeny bit weird.

So tired last Sunday after church. I just like this cause she looks like a little frog.

It's getting cold here! It snowed for the first time this season a few days ago. I found her sleeping like this during her nap. She's very comfortable. She usually doesnt mind spending time on the floor which is very nice so I can still get some things done during the day.

My sweetheart!
