First Day of Kindergarten

So I am writing this post about 5 months after the first day of school so it’s lost a bit of it’s luster, BUT not it’s importance! I remember Faith’s first day of school like it was yesterday. I cant believe that she is old enough to be in school! The first day was a bit of an emotional day all around. I was VERY sick and hardly able to get out of bed. I was able to manage to get up enough strength to ride in the car with Lee though to take Faith to school. She had a bit of a rough start shedding several tears for a couple of weeks every morning when we dropped her off. I seem to do the same many mornings. It has been quite the adjustment for us all getting use to her being in school everyday. Even as I write this a semester in I’m not use to it, nor do I like it. Blahh!

Faith has adjusted well and has made friends and learned a TON! I always look forward to picking her up at the end of the day though! I am so proud of her accomplishments and look forward to her reading me books soon!

Pumpkin patch

Last Friday we went to the pumpkin patch. It was our 5th annual trip to McGarrah's patch. It's really a fun tradition that we do every yr. the kids love finding their pumpkins and cutting them off the vine. Judy has come with us a time or two. She was able to make it up this year. It was a lot of fun to have her here to join in the fun! The weather was perfect. It was cloudy at first but then the sun came out. It was a cool crisp day so it actually felt like fall!

Family

Yesterday my brother and his family came to visit from Houston. It was really good to see them. They have been all around the state visiting family the past week. We only had one night with them but enjoyed every minute of it! We ended our visit with a trip to Ricks. Who comes to Fayetteville and doesn't visit Ricks. Ha!

I got to love on my sweet niece. She is growing up so fast!!!

Ian is only 7 months older than Chanie Kate. He's so much taller!!!

UNO

Faith has been sick all week so we have tried to find some low key indoor things to do when she feels good enough to do something besides lay on the couch. She has become quite the UNO player. She proves to be a feisty card player.

The 4th

We went to our neighbors house the night of the 4th and had dessert and shot fireworks. This was the 2nd year that all the kids had assembled at one house for the 4th. Everyone had a great time. Ian ended up getting burned on the arm by a fallen ember from a mortar. Poor guy was laying on the ground and he rolled over on too of it. He was quite the trooper though and didn't let it ruin his night or ours.:)

Construction fashion show

This past weekend Faith and I went to Little Rock for Becca's baby shower and to have a "girls weekend". On Thursday at dinner Lee was talking about having a guys weekend and doing "man" things like bikes rides, playing outside, getting sweaty, and eatin' pizza everyday. You get the point..... Peyton jumped in with excitement and enthusiastically shouted, "Yeah, and have a FASHION SHOW!" Lee's response was, " yes, even more of a reason to have a "guys" weekend". You never know what you're gonna get with P. He always keeps us on your toes!

When I got home Sunday P had not forgotten about the fashion show. He put on quite the fashion show, MCing in his construction attire. Maybe construction apparel is the next big trend.

4th of July-before

A couple days before the 4th we went to Mount Comfort Church of Christ fireworks show. We have gone the past few years. They always put on a good show and the traffic is minimal. I took the older kids and Lee stayed home with Ian. We met our friends their and watched them together. The kids are not fans of loud noises so they each wore a pair of Lee's ear protection. They looked so cute!

Fun times with friends!

Father's Day a few days early

We celebrated Father's Day a few days early this year. I am traveling to Florida for a wedding this weekend so I won't be home on Father's Day, or at least until late Sunday night. Tuesday we
Celebrated with one his favorite dinners and dessert!

I did the typical daddy questionaire with Faith and Peyton. Several of their answers were quite comical. Others were very heart felt and sweet. I'm hoping to do it every year for the next several years and then put them in a book.

Faith picked out a water bottle that she remembered several weeks ago Lee had mentioned he wanted. We went into the store to get it and she knew EXACTLY how to get to the aisle and where it was. She has an amazing memory!
We also gave daddy a gift cert. for a massage.

I am so thankful for a daddy and husband that loves our family so much! Life is so much better with dad in it!

We have a comedian on our hands

So tonight we were returning ice chest, decor and such throughout the neighborhood that I had borrowed for the parade yesterday. So I let P and F ride in the front seat with the windows down. Quite a treat around here ;)

There was a guy doing yard work in his yard. When driving past him, Peyton randomly hangs his head out the window and yells, "sorry I can't hear you, I have a banana in my ear"!! The guy turns around and gives us quite a funny look as well as a little chuckle. I didn't know if I should duck and put my darkest shade sunglasses on or join in the fun.........
You never know what P is going to come up with. After dying laughing P thought it was funny to yell that at every innocent bystander along the way. It lost its luster with me after the first time, but was still funny to P and F. These kids.........Where do they come up with these things? P's going to be a comedian one day or an engineer.....Or maybe both...... Think he gets these traits from his grandad. ;)

fire engine party

Saturday we celebrated Ian’s birthday with a fire truck party. He has been talking about his fire truck party for WEEKS!!! Several weeks ago we asked Ian if he wanted a Bubble Guppies, Fire Truck, or Train party and he ALWAYS said FIRE TRUCK! So fire truck it is! We invited a few friends from the street over to celebrate with us. They all had a great time. The kids played in the water for over 3 hrs! Love this sweet smile!

I had found online a tutorial of how to make a carwash out of PVC pipe. The kids really enjoyed it. I hope to use it throughout the summer.

Mom purchased some sponges from the Dollar General for the kids to wash their bikes with. Ian LOVED them! He played with them almost the ENTIRE party! I never knew that a dollar sponge was worth hours of entertainment. If you notice, almost every photo I took, Ian was playing with the sponges.

Mom made the boys matching fire truck shirts for the party. I love them! She did such a good job! She is so talented! It was the finishing touch to the party.

The kids ate pizza and had cake for dessert. After running around for a couple hours they all were able to put away the pizza!DSC_0261DSC_0244DSC_0252

This is my best attempt at making a fire truck cake. It was really fun to create. If I can’t design spaces, I’ll just design cakes. HA! Hope my interior design is better than my cake design though.
