Time for a Little Update...

We wanted to try to get a few pictures of the kids on Easter.  So, we took some at our house before church and then walked around the temple afterwards and tried some more.  Boy, was that a chore!!  Luke was NOT in the mood and for about the past year, when the camera comes out, Colton claims he has no idea how to smile.  Haley, bless her heart, tried her best to be patient with her uncooperative brothers and just keeps smiling.  It was exhausting for all of us, but we got a few decent ones and one of Haley and Colton that's my favorite in a long time.  Here they are:

My Favorite!!

Windy day!!

 Lollipops are Luke's FAVORITE!!

Me and my honey (our first picture by the temple in almost 10 years!)

Thanks to our neighbor, we got a family pic, too

My beautiful girl!

My handsome boy (who finally tried to smile!)

How did we manage this?  Another handsome boy actually smiling a little!

And just so we're clear here on how lucky we were to get anything even decent, this was Luke throwing his typical fit on the concrete at the temple!

Happy Easter to all!!

Dancing Queen

Haley took her first dance class this summer.  It was a ballet/tap combo.  She was a very serious and dedicated dancer.  She liked it enough that she’s doing the next class for the Fall.

Unpretty Princess

I’m so sorry Colton.  Next time I send you and Haley up to start getting ready for bed, I’ll come to check on you sooner.

100_4184Colton is SUCH a good sport and he loves to have fun.  Unfortunately for him, we have LOTS of embarrassing pictures of his sister dressing him up.  This could very well be the best, though.  Considering the fantastic make-up job and the disgusting teeth.  It doesn’t get much better (or worse!)  Hmm… maybe these will come in handy some day…hehehe!

Paul’s Latest Project

So, Paul has been determined to get some grass growing at our house.  After a lot of research, he determined Compadre Zoysia was the way to go.  It was a lot of work (he tilled up all the dirt and spread a big load of topsoil to prepare).   We had the sod delivered and got to work laying it out.  Those strips of grass were surprisingly heavy…oh, and they got even heavier in the pouring rain!  Anyways, it was pretty awesome to go from a big pile of dirt, to an instant lush, green lawn.  Our water bill has definitely suffered for taking care of new grass.  I think it’s worth it, though.   Here are some pics:

My Little Mermaid

Haley took swim lessons at the Y again this year.  Her teacher took things to a whole new level this time.  She had those kids in the deep end on the second day of lessons.  One little boy cried the whole time- literally, the whole two weeks.  Even though it was tough,  Haley stuck with it and tried her best.  She made some big improvements and looked forward to swimming every day. Good job H!!

And don’t forget these two handsome bystanders who patiently watched their sister in the pool while they were sweating and bored to death.

Independence Day

Since we have such a great view of the fireworks and Fuquay always does theirs on the 3rd, we had all my family over for a cookout.   The kids especially enjoyed playing in the back yard and watching the fireworks.  Even Brad (who was VERY skeptical of the Fuquay fireworks show) enjoyed it!  It’s fun to be close enough to family to be able to get together for holidays.

100_4133 Mom made the most delicious, festive trifle EVER!

Family Beach Trip

We got to spend a week at Topsail beach with my family.  It was great to have everyone there together, but  I can’t say it was our easiest trip.  Luke happened to be getting his molars at the time and felt really bad and didn’t sleep.  It seemed hard to work out time on the beach and meals and naps, but despite all that, we were still having a really nice time until Haley and Colton came down with strep throat and we had to leave early.  We couldn’t seem to catch a break, so next time, we’re hoping for better sleep, no sick babies, and more time on the beach!  I still managed to get a few cute pics:

Wright Family Reunion 2010

We had a great time at our 2nd annual Wright Family reunion at Falls Lake.  We had great food, games, cotton candy, face painting, balloons (Luke’s favorite), and the kids even got to swim.  All in all, a fun time to spend with the family we don’t see often enough.

100_3954 Colton LOVES his sodas!

100_3958 Poppy (who after six years of being Poppie decided it was better with a “y”…still trying to get used to that!) and Baby Ben

Luke enjoyed carrying around the cupcakes and somehow got stuck with a pink balloon (he didn’t seem to mind, though).

Can’t wait until next year!!
