On February 18th we had Swirl-A-Palooza crop weekend over at Swirlydoos.
And boy.... there were so many FUN and GORGEOUS projects and tut's posted.
I will share 2 of them today. (the rest will follow later this week)
Lynne created a VERY COOL and GORGEOUS canvas, using household items.
Very inspiring, so I had to give it a go. Here's what I came up with:
I first did the base as Lynne showed us in her tutorial, and then added some more Gesso on the sides to place my lace in. After it al dried, I added some colors of Distress Crackle paint.
I altered my metal embellishment by using Archival ink.
The base of this flower is made out of cardbox, which got stamped on and glimmer-misted to put it in shape. The top flower, I made, using fabric. I cut out the large flower of, Tim Holtz's Tattered Florals die, colored it with Distress inks and gave it a thin coat (on the back of the petals) of Multi Medium. Then dried it with my heat gun, and put it in shape.
The birdcage is from Prima (resist canvas) and came in a previous Swirlydoos kit. After I had glued everything down to my canvas, I added some Glossy Accents and sprinkled Diamond Dust Glitter Glass, in the wet Glossy Accents.
Lisa Valentine shared some gorgeous images of Vintage Seed package's and she created a BEAUTIFUL canvas with it. Here's what I came up with.
I used a wooden frame, instead of a canvas. Printed some of the images out
(in mirror) and transfered them to fabric, using Multi Medium.
The rose is made by using Tim Holtz's Pinecone die... love that die!!!
I really love how my transfered images came out. To finish it up, I added some pearl strand, using my glue gun. That's it for today. I hope you have a wonderful day, and maybe even some time on your hands to get creative.

Paulien

Swirlydoos "Bonjour Mon Doux" Second Reveal
Here are my last projects, with the February *Bonjour Mon Doux* kit.
The flower is made out of fabric which was cut with the Tattered Florals die from Tim Holtz.
In the kit came a wide green trim, which I cut up to create the branches. The rose is made after Lisa Gregory her tutorial.
This gorgeous birdcage came in the kit as well, I put some stickles on it and puffy paint, and dressed it up with some gems and a branch.
I changed the colors of the green trim that came in the kit, by using gesso and distress inks.
The letters were painted with brown acrylic paint. While the paint was still wet I sprinkled some glass glitter on it. After it all dried I brushed some gold acrylic paint over it.
To raise the center page, I cut up the box where the kit came in, and layered it underneath.
And some cards:
Thinking of you.
You are an Angel.
Hello
I really loved this kit so much!!!! The DT March kits are on their way and I can't wait to get mine.
Last week I made some of the Swirl-A-Palooza projects, which I will share later this week. Hope you enjoy your Sunday.
hugs,
Paulien

Swirlydoos & Once Upon A Sketch
Swirlydoos is this month's sponsor for Once Upon A Sketch
And this is the current sketch
And here's my take on the sketch
And some close ups
I added some Gesso with a spatula and placed my pace right in it. After it dried I inked it up and added some cross stiching.
The flower is made from fabric and the leaves are made out of toilet rolls. I glued a circle of pearl strand using my glue gun.
My journaling is on the tag, underneath the pictures.
I inked up some Prima lace and ruffled it a bit.
Again, the pearl strand circles were glued down, using my hot glue gun. The blue flower is made after a tutorial Lisa G created for us. It is called Coffee filter spiral roses and can be found HERE
So... wanna play??? Stop over at Once Upon A Sketch, you'll love it!!!
hugs,
Paulien

What a Fun day we had
Yesterday we had a SWIRL-A-PALOOZA day at SWIRLYDOOS, and it was soooooo much fun. We, the Design-Team and Education-Team, had pepaired lots of fun projects and tutorials and the responses from the participant were overwhelming. Thank you ladies for all the sweet words.
I prepaired a video tutorial for this *Blending Foam - Storage Binder*
Which if you LOVE Distress Inks, You want to have one!
Front cover:
some close up's:
I handmade the dangling, from beads and a Tim Holtz Swivel Clasp.
I added some clips, for having the opportunity, to hang Blending Tools along the binding.
I added the closure, not because it needed one, cause the binder itself will close perfectly, but because I like the way it looked.
This binder has room for the original 36 colors of Distress Ink PLUS the 4 Limited Editions. I made room (on the inside of the binding) for an extra 5 *spare* ones. As you can see, I made 6 rows of 8 colors. Every row, can be taken out, seperatly, because it is attached to the inside covers by using velcro.
I added Page protectors to: 1. Keep the foams in place and 2. to make sure the foams would dry out on me. The protecting sheets closes by velcro.
Top vieuw:
As you can see, the front and back rows, will close perfect over the * spare row* on the inside binding.
And here's the back cover:
Here is my (first ever) video I did, for this Binder.
That's it for today..... Have a great Sunday!!!!!
hugs,
Paulien

New SwirlyHues Storyboard and Swirl-a-palooza!
I'm gonna post this here too, cause.. this challenge is open to everyone!!!!
February's SwirlyHues Storyboard and Challenge.
This month's hostess is the divinely gorgeous Angelica.
Take a look at what she has chosen for this month's story.
Here's my sample page:
I so love these gorgeous little roses that Krissy put in the kits!
I painted my CB letters with burnt umber acrylic paint. Then sprinkled Diamond Dust glass glitter on the wet paint. After it all dried, I brushed some gold acrylic paint on them.
See the dimension? I raised my center by cutting up the box, the kit came in, and adhered it to my center page. The leaves you see in this corner were made out of toilet rolls. I did a tutorial on them, which can be found HERE
Then SWIRL-A-PALOOZA..................
We have a little get together coming up next weekend and it's called
SWIRL-A-PALOOZA!!!! OK, OK....so maybe it's not sooooo little. *wink* There will be challenges, a game, tutorials and lots of fun.
Stay tuned to the BLOG for more details about the theme and the schedule.
All I can tell you is that you DO NOT want to miss this!!!!
