Sighpie, it's one of those days when I just resent my parents for giving me my name. To think of all places, I would have trouble with people pronouncing my English name here. Haven't we all be doing so well all along, just adopting the French pronunciation? And it's not like I haven't corrected you-.- THREE TIMES!!! THREE TIMES OVER TWO YEARS. and you actually know my face! You just match my face to the name "chen-dle".
And then today, my greatest nightmare happened. You tried to pronounce my full name FMLLLL.
If you can't pronounce my English name, do you think you can actually cope with my Asian last name and Chinese name successfully? Omg so embarrassing:/
Ok back to Marketing now. Sigh, some people just don't make the effort, do they. Or maybe they just have this inability.
Going to Belgium next week btw! I'll try to have as much fun as possible heh.

Attention Swiss Supermarkets!
Ok so I realised I'm heavily reliant on brands under Campbell's. The moment of revelation came 5 mins ago when I was both hungry and resentful that I only had one precious can of Campbell's Wild Mushroom soup left. To me, it's like limited edition because they don't sell Campbell's here in Switzerland and being the creature of habit that I am, I refuse to try other brands (however limited the selection may be here). So anyway I went online to search if there was a possibility I could order canned soups and have it shipped to Switzerland. Yes this is how desperate I am. Turns out, the nearest country that sells Campbell's is the UK? And apparently Waitrose stocks it. But I don't even remember seeing the soups when I was in London a month ago! But they had my Sour Cream and Onion Kettle chips, which IMO is 100000x better because even Singapore has phased out on that flavour. The range of flavours Kettle has in Singapore's not that great I think. And that's why I just stick to boring old Lightly Salted when I buy Kettle in Singapore.
ANYWAY, so somehow I got linked to Campbell's wiki page and holy moly! Other brands that I absolutely love come under the Campbell's family. And no prizes for guessing that none of them can be found in wealthy old Switzerland-.- Seriously am I studying in a globalised first world country or not?????
So... the brands include
1) Prego
NO other pasta sauce brand can rival my Prego. Not even Barilla. When I came to Switzerland in June, I was prepared to take 4 bottles of Prego Fresh Mushroom sauce with me. But then I had to reduce it to 1 bottle because my luggage was overweight fml. And yea I know it's pretty ironic that I'm bringing pasta sauce to Switzerland when they're supposed to have better ingredients for making pasta here seeing to how we're in Europe and next to Italy-.- But still, Prego will always be #1 in my heart. And yea, I used it up 2 weeks ago and screwed up my cooking when I added in too much mozzarella cheese and made it too salty. NUUUUUU my one and only bottle:(
2) Swanson
Somehow I feel Swanson's chicken broth tastes different from other brands like Maggi and Knorr. I feel it tastes less artificial and I make better Chinese food with it. Risotto also actually. The small Swanson packet makes for a mean chawanmushi too! And I love to use the stock for my chicken macaroni soup. Just have to add canned mushrooms and ikan bilis to the chicken broth and voila! Delicious soup is served (especially with sesame oil drizzled on it mmmmmm) And again, I used up all my chicken broth (except for my large packet) in my second week when I happily decided to make Cream of Broccoli soup without verifying if I had any vegetable/chicken stock cubes left in the pantry. It wasn't until I had all my ingredients frying and sizzling away when I realised I didn't have any stock cubes except for the Swanson chicken broth that I had painstakingly brought from Singapore. So yea, used it up for my stupid soup:(
So yea dear Swiss supermarkets, please consider bringing in Campbell's and the brands under its umbrella (especially Prego and Swanson). I will be eternally grateful!

Emo Tan
Ok so school is starting tmr. Not for real yet though. We're just having orientation and then everything starts on Tuesday. So tmr I'll just have to go collect my books and attend a few briefings and voila. Taka wants to make chicken karaage tmr for dinner. So we'll probably drop by Coop to get some groceries after school before going home. Anyway, so today marks the last chill day we're gonna have in months and sigh idk if it was the weather but I was just feeling down the whole day, thus prompting Taka to name me Emo Tan for the day lol. I ranted about it on my Dayre. Basically I just didn't get to clean the house as planned and I was especially upset since this has been postponed since Friday and I have realised that I am somebody who doesn't like to leave things hanging and keep postponing tasks that I would rather get over and done with, especially if I have already mentally prepared myself to put aside time and effort to do it. So I guess this mentality doesn't just apply to food for me. Anyway, because I slept too late last night, woke up too early this morning and ended up taking an overly long nap after breakfast (I officially woke up at 5pm fml), I could not clean the house with Johan as agreed because he was heading for a run when I woke up. Then as I was preparing to do the cleaning by myself, Long came home with Patrick. So yea. More people at home, even more inconvenient to do cleaning.
So I was just really upset I couldn't check cleaning off my list and was just moping around in the room. Plus I was hungry since all I had was a yogurt for breakfast before I took my insanely long nap. So the frustrated and hungry me started rolling around on the bed and groaning (like an animal wtf) because I was just so mad at the circumstances. Sometimes I find myself very erm socially inept? Anyway Taka came in, tried to comfort me, told me he would help me with the cleaning and just as I started to feel better, HE FELL ASLEEP! whatisthis. So I spent the whole evening being disappointed at the world and attempted to vacuum and mop the second level by myself. Was still Emo Tan when Taka finally woke up lol. But I'm still really grateful he tried to cheer me up by offering to take me to Edo. And when I rejected, offered to take me to lunch at PP's. This is while I know that he's kinda supposed to keep to a budget now. Awwww so sweet right. Because he knows I'm a spoilt brat who likes to eat out (lol what kind of image am I projecting of myself). Anyway, of course I told him we should save these dining trips for special occasions because I really think he'll be broke if he were to take me out for expensive meals everytime I get upset with the world. Besides, why am I getting rewarded for being such a negatively charged soul hahaha. The evening got better after that. I made us dinner and we watched a few episodes of Modern Family heh.
So I should probably be hitting the sack soon but I'm not even sleepy since I woke up around 8 hours ago oh man. Shall go leave my towel in the bathroom, see what Taka is up to then maybe attempt to sleep.

I eat alot
Just gonna upload some pictures while I kill some time waiting for my dad to pick me up for dinner. Omg I feel like such a glutton. Just made mushroom risotto 2 hours ago and I'm hungry again T.T
So I made this during my first week back. Yea basically I just put everything onto my plate and called it 'mixed salad'. The green element of the salad is uh hidden beneath everything else haha. Featuring: Egg tofu, Sauteed Mushrooms, Strawberries, Pan-fried Chicken, Boiled Carrots and Boiled Broccoli lol.
Was so excited when I finally had my mum's barley water again. So frustrating that the people back in Switzerland aren't big fans of Barley (idk if it's the Barley itself or if they don't like the way I make it). But anyway, this was so delicious! I really think the pandan leaves make all the difference (Since in Switzerland, all I have are brown rock sugar and dried winter melon)
I made Cream of Mushroom for dinner the other day and my aunt dropped off some durians for us (me). So yea this was what we had for dinner. I think I added in too much of my potato lol (Not like I had a choice. I only used 1 potato but it was huge. So I guess it made the soup really starchy and I didn't even have to add in much cream. But still. I think the potato only works well when I make Cream of Broccoli with Cheddar)
Same aunt bought us cheesecake sticks. This was divine! We got it from the Food Hall in Isetan and I really couldn't stop eating when the promotion lady was giving out samples lol. So happy my aunty decided to buy it for my sister and I! I loved the strawberry ones because I like all things strawberry hahaha! Anyway, the cheesecake's like Japanese style (is that how I describe it? Like you find it in Japanese bakeries lol)
Made this tofu dish the other day because I wanted to eat clean. Basically I just steamed the tofu and in a separate pan, I sauteed my minced pork with garlic and made a sauce mixture to go with it. Then I drizzled it all over the steamed tofu. Quite nice actually. The tofu tasted so fresh. Then I just made some stir-fried bok choy on the side heh. My mum saw this pic and she chided us for being so unpresentable lol. What! I was just taking it for my personal viewing purposes haha. And this is how we normally have dinner anyway. On recycled newspaper, no less.
Selfie with Chelsia at Rachel's last Monday!
Had Lobster Roll on Tuesday with Marcus. I was kinda disappointed because what I had at Burger and Lobster was so much better than this. But I guess considering the competitive price (SGD22 for a set), what could I have expected right. So the portion was quite small and the lobster mixture was tomato based. I couldn't really taste the mayonnaise too. So this was taken at Platypus Lobster Shack and on the menu there was a wide variety of different flavours for us to choose from for our Lobster Roll. So if this was the original flavour, I really don't know how the others would turn out hmmm. I guess the star of the dish was actually the truffle chips. Now that was pretty good and I could taste the truffle oil quite distinctively. I think this was quite a nice touch actually. Something different from the usual fries (which usually ends up making the meal rather jelat). Another suggestion could be sweet potato fries? I really liked the ones I had at G House along Dempsey Road. It was the first time I had sweet potato fries and I have always been skeptical about the concept of having a sweet version of my favourite snack of all time. But I was pleasantly surprised when I found the texture to be really similar to regular fries, but less oily and I liked the sweet taste to it too. So yes, I'm really into sweet potato fries now lol.
That's me being all pissed off and disappointed with my food. Actually no la. I think I was just trying to focus on taking a good shot. The plate was too big (which was quite ironic since the Lobster Roll itself was really tiny. The salad and chips took up the bulk of the space on the plate/tray). So yea, anyway now I know how my focused face looks like. Basically, that's my resting bitch face la.
Then on Wednesday, I met Yvett for ramen. We then bumped into Haoqing after dinner and he suggested the possibility of drinks after (since Kevin was with him too - they were out on their OG outing). So Yvett and I just walked around to search for dessert and ended up at Dean and Deluca for their rainbow cake. This is actually the first rainbow cake I've ever had because I've never found myself to be a cake person. So even though rainbow cakes have been around for quite sometime, I never saw the need to get my hands on one. But anyway, I tried this and I liked it too. Firstly, the colours were so pretty and bright! Some rainbow cakes I see online don't even have such vibrant colours la. But yea some people might actually be put off by such bright colours because it looks artificial to them. So the uglier the better I guess (since the cake would be perceived to have adopted a more natural colouring and is thus less preservative-and-food-colouring laden) Anyway, I'm really inclined to visually appealing stuff (people, clothes, food etc). So of course I'd prefer prettier stuff right-.- Anyway I liked the taste too lol. Because every coloured layer had a distinct flavour.
Red - Strawberry
Orange - Orange lol
Yellow - Lemon
Green - Apple
Blue - Blueberry
Purple - Grape
So yea, I really appreciated the effort put into making this and have I said this already? IT WAS REALLY PRETTY!
Ok so anyway, this was us before drinks! Everyone's either working or on internship now!
On Thursday, I had a Brunch meetup with Alissa and Mak. So nice to catch up with them and yes, we always have a lot of things to update each other on. Every single time. It's like our lives are so dynamic and full of developments lol. It's pretty interesting and exciting actually. I really can't wait to see how our meetings would be like 10 years from now. Hopefully we'll be married (maybe each with a kid or 2) I wonder what we would talk about then. Our jobs? Our husbands? Babies?
And then on Sunday, I met with this old friend. Who other than the glamorous Andrew hahah! Was also nice spending the evening with him catching up and camwhoring!
Anyway, I'm really glad everyone made time for me during these few weeks, especially since people are busy with their jobs, internships, orientation stuff and all. I guess we don't have to be there physically for each other 24//7. It's even more meaningful when after being away for 6 months, people still bother to put aside time to hang out with you and even after not being there for each other constantly, you manage to pick up from where you left off rather naturally. So I guess that's the beauty of friendship. We don't need to have a whole crowd, but rather a select few who would stand by you, at the right place and the right time.

Tuesday Rambles
Ok, I think my Beauty and the Beast wedding isn't going to materialise lol. The other day, I was just casually asking Taka what he would do if I made him sit through Sleeping Beauty and Beauty and the Beast (the Disney films). He was like 'Don't push it, baby' Hahaha so I guess if he can't tahan one hour each of Princess Goodness, I don't think he can put up with a whole year of princessing around. Anyway, I was on Pinterest the other day and hmmm there's really not much available for inspiration so this works as a double-edged sword for me as a planner you know. Like the concept would be uniquely mine (for some time until another genius does something better fml) but then I would have nothing to reference my party against (which is good too right, so nobody can complain about my wedding since they have no basis for comparison). Hmmm now that I think about it, it's really not a bad idea man! Ok shall KIV this thought till I really need it lol.
So I'm just sitting in my Dad's office surfing away (and being on The Wedding Scoop). I wonder what he would think if he walks past and sees my screen. I guess this is really turning into a hobby? (Like looking at wedding pictures and stories). Like how he likes to browse design magazines and visit showflats lol. And recently, I have been speaking to my dad about my future. I've always been telling people how I aspire to work in the corporate side of hotels. For example, for Starwood or IHG, probably somewhere in branding development. But then I'm seeing my dad actually turning his passion into his career and I'm really wondering if my passion solely lies in hotels and only hotels. After a stint with Event Sales and planning my 21st, I realised I kinda like visualising concepts and planning events. This is actually something I can see myself doing in the long run. My only issue would be the long and irregular hours. But that being said, I don't like to be amongst the crowd - I don't like to have to compete for space, for time and for basically everything. I guess working irregular hours does eliminate such problems for me. Hahah and this also explains why I don't really like going out on weekends and why if I eat out, I go at 6pm.
Sigh ok I'm just rambling on and on. Anyway, I can't wait to return to Switzerland next Tuesday (ok technically Monday night), and I'll be back in Marigny by 12pm/1pm on Tuesday. Yay!!! And then it's London on Thursday. I am so excited! Everything's booked and I've already printed my confirmation emails for everything. So all that's left is to buy everything I need for Switz (like Taka's Waffles Crisp, Milo, my curry powder, somemore barley maybe, toiletries) And once I get back, I am pretty sure I'm not gonna be so conscientious with updating lol. But let's see eh:)

Disney Princess Wedding
Oh my, I just re-read Shopaholic Ties the Knot for like the hundredth time possibly and I just reaffirmed my desire to be a Becky lol. She's such a relatable character (ok probably without so many screw ups in my life) And you know what, she just reignited my interest in daydreaming about my wedding. Hahaha
Dear Taka/ My Future Hubby/ If you happen to be both lol, please do not be turned off if you see this post lol. It contains my deepest desires for my wedding and I would be so destroyed if you were to find my plans off putting and end up leaving me or putting me through a traumatising experience like having a Transformers themed wedding or something similar (because I really am not that kind of girl. fuck your life heh). The most we can do is just turn the wedding into a generic affair a la hotel packages. No theme. Just flowers from CC Lee and the standard hotel menu (but I would probably just blame you for life for making the most important day of my life so dull and I might possibly bring this up everytime we quarrel, however irrelevant the subject of contention may be). So that being said...
I really want a Disney Princess themed wedding. I can feel my future husband cringing in his seat as he reads this. Hahah anyway, I was just randomly listening to playlists by the Philharmonic Disney Orchestra and oh my I really liked what I was listening to. Imagine walking down the aisle to a rendition of Tale as Old as Time by the orchestra. It would be so beautiful! And then having your first dance to A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes. I know in Singapore we don't really do first dances but I really think it's less tacksville than say singing love songs at your own wedding unless you're a professional singer. And my fiance and I could go for dance classes prior to the wedding and we would waltz away on the dance floor hahahah. But I guess the only problem will be that the dance floor would most probably be under-utilised after the fiance and I dance because I don't think my friends are the pro-active showy type who like attention+dance impromptu in front of crowds. But then again, some alcohol may do the trick eh.
And then the whole ballroom would be decorated like the ballroom in Beauty and the Beast. We would have invites on parchment paper and sealed with wax (with our monogram also). The theme colour would be champagne and white (and maybe pale pink?) obviously lol. But sigh, the food would have to be like Eight Course Chinese right hmmm. Or we could make it fusion hahah. And wedding favours would be Disney Princess themed too I guess hahaha. Maybe like a glass slipper paper weight lol or maybe something simple and edible like chocolates/cookies then we add in a poem or quote from a Disney Princess movie. Fortune cookies? Like you bite into one, and then you find a slip of paper that reads 'If you keep believing, the dream that you wish will come true' or 'If you dream a thing more than once, it's sure to come true' or 'Remember, you're the one who can fill the world with sunshine'. Shit had to google those. Quite a useless fan of Disney Princess, if I must say. Sigh:( And then gatecrashing games could be Disney themed too. Oh man that would actually be quite fun right! Like having the guys sing Disney songs (or re-enact scenes from Disney Princess movies lol) Or play some matching game like match the voice to the Disney Princess or match the Prince to the correct Princess hahaha. But somehow I have a feeling these activities are better suited for a 5 year old's Disney Princess Birthday Party hahaha oops.
Haha anyway, I really was browsing randomly ok. And I found the perfect wedding dress for my theme. Look!

Oh man I think it's gorgeous and it's so me! Maybe the crystals at the waist can be larger and more obvious hahah. I like the hair too but idk if I can pull it off and if it looks princessy lolol. But it is really pretty!
And now for a sample of Disney Philharmonic Orchestra's pieces
That's my march in song
For my waltz lolol
Hahaha can't believe I churned this out in an hour. The things people do when they cannot sleep. You know they always say you can't plan for such things so surely. Because for all I know, I might really end up just getting married on a secluded island somewhere with nobody but a few witnesses (maybe not even my parents fml) and without a proper gown. Just a simple white maxi with wild flowers in my hair. And I'm exchanging vows with my groom barefooted on soft white sand, before calm waves (and of course the person marrying us la. Maybe it's a close friend leh. Omg that would be quite cool right. Having a friend pronounce us man and wife lol) Yea but I guess this scenario will only happen if I get famous one day and I'm avoiding the public eye by getting married secretly haha. Or maybe I end up marrying an international superstar. Now that's a thought. Maybe Taka becomes an international superstar with a super extensive fanbase comprising jealous girls my age who would post nasty comments about me on his fan page lol. Like 'How on earth could you bring yourself to marry HER?! She's so ugly and unworthy of your love and affections. Marry me instead!!!!!!'
Ok anyway, it's really late and I should head to bed. Meeting Marcus tmr for a late lunch at Tai Seng for duck rice (apparently it's really famous?) Then I have the Singaporean Les Roches gathering at night at Rachel's! Yay so excited! Okokok good night!

Full of Love
Oh man, I'm just being the creepy stalker that I am and going through photographs a junior posted on Facebook from his Europe trip with his girlfriend (who is also a junior lol) - in fact, I reckon they met in Interact Club, to which I was President (so erm indirectly, I have credit for them getting together ok, however far fetched it may be, totally disregarding the fact that the girl's not even my fb friend and I haven't spoken to the guy since the Exco handover haha) Anyway, I digress. I believe they just ended their 36-day holiday, with him flying back to Singapore and saying he would 'see her back in Singapore'. So I'm assuming she's doing a semester abroad since she's in NTU (no thanks to my FB snooping skills). He wrote a really lengthy post about how the holiday reaffirmed their relationship and how they got so much closer in so many ways and how much he realised he loved her. So sweet for a guy to be proclaiming all this on FB (especially coming from an Asian guy, whom I recall to be rather shy and reserved. But I'm not one to judge la, since I'm not even close to him). But still, even I felt touched hahaha! I went over to her FB page to and she wrote similar things about how the holiday has brought them to a new level in their relationship and at that moment, I felt really happy and excited for them LOL, especially since I knew of them being together since they were J1 (when I was in J2) and well, it's been 4 years and to overcome the turbulent NS period too? Wow. Anyway, I hope they last long hahah. What a random outburst.
But yes, I think travelling with a partner does bring you together because it throws you out of your comfort zone and you essentially only have each other to depend on in a foreign land. Unless you're really familiar with that environment la hahaha. But anyway yea. That's why I like travelling with my partners because not only do you get to explore new places, you'll discover each other's personality traits in greater detail too. But I think most of the time, I'm the one who reveals that I'm a horrible person to travel with lol. What with the excessive planning and heavy focus on things I wanna do fml. I hope I don't come across as a uber control freak and spoilt princess in real life haha (please please. If not, I'll really be left on the shelf and I'll live a miserable life to the age of 107 with nobody but 9 cats)
Anyway yea, I've started my babysitting stint - parents are away on a 10 day cruise so I'll have to cook and clean for the 14 year old baby at home. I've been thinking of new recipes to try out since I've pretty much been cooking the same thing over and over again in Switzerland and here. And especially since I have very predictable and boring taste buds, I really do not mind eating the same thing on a repetitive basis. But I guess my customers (aka my sister and boyfriend) will get bored over time so I think it's high time I start experimenting right? Especially since I have the whole kitchen to myself now sigh. What to cook what to cook what to cookkkkkk?
