Witchy Me!
So, for like the second time in 8 years I was home to hand out halloween candy. Jade did most of it, he is awesome with all those trick or treaters, but I summoned up my inner witchy self, donned the customary costume, and answered the calling! LOL! It was fun, but what happened to knocking on the door, and when someone answers it, yelling, TRICK OR TREAT! We answered our doors to kids just holding out their bags. Jade said, "what do you say"? and some of the kids said "thank you" or "please". I was like really? Seriously? Do parents not brief their children on trick or treating etiquette? Jade said it's been this way since he started handing out candy. HUM........Anyways, here I am all dressed up. No scary make up though, didn't wanna get that into it.

Facebook has killed the blogger in me...LOL! It's the spooky time of year, trees are changing colors, and fall if officially here. Halloween is just around the corner, and I LOVE to dress up. This year I'm gonna be a witch, DH said, "well thats not a stretch" LOL, thats why I love him. I need to goto Rexburg and get the finishing touches for my costume. We are also doing all the haunted haunts...last week we went to the straw maze, and they made it very difficult, we were in it for an hour and a half! LOL! We went to the Haunted mill last night, scary fun, and monday we will be doing the Haunted Hollow...it's all outside wooded area, and it's bound to scare me to death! I LOVE IT!
I was in Idaho Falls yesterday doing some much needed grocery shopping, and it was in the high 60's, WOW, it was a beautiful day. I stopped by my friend Mistys house, and her goat was out of the corral, again, so I found where he was getting out, and told Misty to sure it up. This spring Misty lost her mama goat and it's twins, and her little Flower lost it's baby as well. I was a sad story actually....the goats are in the corral with the chickens, and no one was home when the goats went into labor, and the chickens converged upon the goats, and well, if ya know anything about chickens......sad story! Flower had twins this fall and only the female lived, her name is Daisy Mae, and is doing very well. They are so cute when they are little.
Last year Misty got a calf, to butcher (his name is Brisket) I'm not sure when she's gonna do it, but that calf has turned into a big steer, and thinks he's a tiny boy still. He still frolics, prances, and rears up to play.....all, of course, while your back is turned. There is this noise that Misty and I, both of my sisters and maybe my mom makes...."AAAAAT", it means NO, or stop it, ha ha ha...we all make that noise it to our dogs, kids, and Misty does it to that steer, and he stops doing whatever, it's the funniest thing I've ever seen. It was a good visit, and still amazes me how this city girl from Phoenix is now a chicken, goat, and cow farmer. She is also very clever, as she pays for almost none of her feed for any of her animals......just a little hard labor! HUM!
Happy Fall everyone!

Sage Hen 500 2010
Click on my post title to goto facebook and look at few pictures of the Sage Hen. We did a ton of driving and saw nothing but a few Ruffed Grouse, bad year for Sage Hen all the way around. But it was fun, and the desert was beautiful with all the changing fall colors.

Huckleberries
So, to any of my family that is doing bees......I would be willing to trade some huckleberries for that very precious raw honey? Any bites?

Tis the season
So I've been busy picking huckleberries.....it's not really my bag, but EVERYONE loves them, and the jam makes really good christmas presents. I've not really been into it so much this year as my week is broke up by having to work, but I've got a gallon and a half so far, and I will be up picking as long as I can. I also have a few lines on raspberries this year too, so I will make jam out of those as well.
Today I picked where Misty has been picking this year, and she ran into a black bear earlier in the picking season, so I've carried Jades 9mm and taken Bernice with me. Here she is just feet from me, lounging under the shade of some huckleberry bushes. Isn't she my pretty dog?

my new porch furniture
So after the parade on sat. Tiera, Kona and I were heading over to Konas house to admire all of her new treasures, and passed by a garage sale. It was a hot afternoon so I had the side door of Tieras mini van open, and saw this wicker patio set on a lawn at a garage sale. I SCREAMED for her to stop, and before she could completely come to a stop, I was out and running. Now, I did enjoy my rocking chairs, but I wanted something else. This set was for sale, and I snatched it up before anyone else could. I did try calling Jade to come and look at it, but he didn't answer his phone. Good thing too, cause when I got it home, he was wholly unimpressed with it. Tiera just laid all her seats down in her van and we fit the entire set in there. It came already with americana themed pillows and all. I LOVE IT! I couldn't be happier with my purchase, and am very glad Jade wasn't there to say he didn't like it. I even haggled with the lady over the price...I would've paid what she was asking, but if I could get it for less, why not?!
Here it is on my porch...ah, such a wonderful place to come out and read.
Here are a few pictures of other stuff on my porch
I was so content with my new purchase, as I was sitting on it waiting for people to arrive for the BBQ, I kept singing, or humming my favorite song from Summer Magic...On The Front Porch
The parade was 45 mins. shorter this year, but we still got hordes of people coming and going in front of the house. I did, as usual get asked about my porch by many people, wondering who lived there, and oh you do, what a wonderfully decorated porch it is, how cute, and so on. I do it, cuz I love it decorated, and so everyone will tell me how cute it is, I'm sure that makes me a very vain person, or something like that, but I don't care! Thanks to my very creative sister Mercy Otis, cuz if it wasn't for her, it would still look like a bunch heathens lived here. Oh, wait, a bunch of heathens do live here, but from my front porch looking in, you can't tell. HA HA HA!

Just wanted to drop a line and show you all what my sister-in-law brought me back from her wonderful trip to the dakotas. These are the neatest little tin pockets ever, and the have recipes on them, which I haven't made, but plan to soon.
Also this is my new treasure from the D.I. not sure how, when, or why, but I just fell in love with it. It's not my usual style either, and it's small like 6-8" maybe.
Lastly, dinner at our house has been pretty lame. My fault, I know, but last night I had this idea that I wanted to make stuffed chicken breasts. So I got my sun dried tomatoes out (love them), and some bacon, then wondered what exactly I was gonna do. When I cooked off the bacon the pan smelled like roasted jalapenos, not sure why, but I loved it. Thats when my fantastic idea hit me. I made Jalapeno popper stuffed chicken breasts. Can't go wrong there, Jade loves poppers. So I flattened my breasts, roasted the peppers and diced them, mixed cream cheese, cheddar cheese, bacon, tomatoes, and the peppers then filled and rolled my breasts. I then rolled them in butter then bread crumbs and baked them. Wall-a! Jalapeno popper stuffed chicken breasts. They were very good. I paired it with horseradish mashed potatoes, and green beans. Yummy, yummy, yummy.

Here are just a couple shots of Trace Adkins.....We were like way far away, I love this camera, but I would like a better one. The concert was an hour and a half, and really pretty good.
I highjacked this pictures off of Chars post. I have a bench like that outside, and am gonna paint it like that I think. I loved this whole room too.
Here I am all PURRTY! Jade has got to be the worst picture taker EVER!
Now I have a cute little bench that Jade and I made out of a twin sized headboard, but this one was way cuter, I think. I've had this picture on my desktop forever, meaning to blog about it....so here it is. Very cute. I might try redoing my blue bench.

BBQ
Just some pictures of the BBQ. It was fun and I think everyone had a blast. Mostly family, as Jade is the youngest of 8, but we had some friends there as well. Played horseshoes, even in the dark as Jade had hung lights pointing at the pits.
This is a picture of Camus Creek. I've never been to this particular spot, just to like East Camus or whatever it is in Kilgore, so it was a new adventure. We did that yesterday with the dogs. I returned home with red shoulders.
We will be off to Jackpot, Nevada later today, to see Trace Adkins in concert. It is sure to be a good time. Hopefully I can get some pictures, not sure if they allow that sort of thing or not.

Socks -n- Stuff
We are having, what turned into, this huge bbq at or house tonight. Just burgers and hot dogs, not the gourmet bbq I had last summer. I spent all day cooking for that one. This one started out very small, and grew and grew and grew. We'll see how many people actually show up. Friends and family all invited. With the fire pit, AND the horseshoe pit, it is sure to be a blast, and hopefully I can post pictures tomorrow.
On to why I really wanted to post about. Since Jade mostly no longer reads my blog, I feel almost certain he won't see this. So one of my biggest complaints about Jade is the way he leaves his socks just laying around where ever. He sits in the recliner after work, takes his socks off, makes sure they are not inside out, and lays them on the arm of the chair....on the floor by the chair....on the hearth....on his boots by the chair....and also on the arm of the couch if thats where he sat down. Now the socks will stay there until he sees fit to put them in the hamper, or until I put them in the hamper. UGH, I hate this. Today however, as I was folding a little laundry, I noticed, that ALL MY socks were inside out. I HATE turning socks the right side, bothers me so much, as I match and fold all the socks when I do laundry, not just throw them into a basket for Jade to figure out later. So I myself am my own culprit. Now, if I can just get him to get those day worn, nasty socks out of my living and into the hamper when they came off, I'll be a happy camper. Also I have pledged to turn my socks the right side when I take them off. LOL!

Trace Adkins
So, Jade came home from work today, with the biggest awesome news....He won Trace Adkins tickets. Now I watched him on the Celebrity Apprentice 2 years ago, and really liked him. Thought he was a stand up guy, so this is very exciting to get to go. However, I called Gus (the new kitchen manager/chef) to see if I could switch my days, and he said "nope, no can do sorry, I can't schedule around your social life" Now, this is totally understandable, but I quit nonetheless. Instantly, I felt this great sense of relief. WOW! Who knew. He hasn't been the best boss, or kitchen manager I've ever been around, but even after a month I was trying to give him the benefit of the doubt. I even offered to do all I could, so he could have the evening of the 4th of July off.....to goto a concert no less, even after all his talk about splitting up the shifts so he does as little as he has to do, and makes one of us "peons" clean up after him, and do ALL his prep. Plus, I don't think he wanted to work around my schedule, as I never had a set schedule, with 2 or 3 days off in a row. Oh well. Dave, the owner, and really technically my boss, will be mad at the whole sit. and will call whenever he finds out, chew me out I'm sure. Thats what I'm dreading. Last time I quit I gave 2 weeks, thats the nice thing, but if I do that, I'll miss this concert, and who doesn't enjoy a free concert, by someone they like?
So I am looking once again, for a job. No big deal really just as long as I can find one before thanksgiving we'll be fine.

golf
So I thought, after i had almost completely slept the bright sunny sunday away, that Jade might really like to golf. So off to the course we went. I should've, however, done a cursory on how he was dressed, because as I started taking pics of him, I realized he had worn those ugly, way too big white socks. Ghastly! Oh well though, he still had fun, as you can see by his posing for this picture.
He didn't golf his best yesterday either, I think it was because I was taking pictures of him....This shot off the tee was a worm burner for sure..
Here is my pose for the day. I hate to golf (for real), but really like the idea of it.

Catching up
I figured since I was done doing the pile of laundry Jade helped me with, that I would catch up on a few things that I wanted done. I found these little bowls at the D.I. a while back, and quickly sanded them. They have been out in the garage ever since awaiting some paint. There is 3 of them, so I'll paint them red, yellow, and green. The spot for them, I think, will be on my big shelf above the chairs. Also this is my toaster cover that I made one night, that Jade fixed as best he could, but still isn't right, but will have to do. I have put a coat of green on it, and one of the small bowls
Also I had some asparagus that was in need of pickling, and so I did that also. Asparagus, I've found, is very resilient. Who knew
This was the cutest little planter ever. I found it at Wal-mart and had to buy it, not even on sale. I will plant some flowers in it sometime, but for now, it sits on my counter, in my way at every turn.
Tomorrow I head back up the mountain for 5 days, I think. I also get to be by myself tomorrow night, as all the rooms that are booked are with a big group, and they aren't eating at the lodge. So hopefully I won't get slammed, as I have only cooked 4 things on this new menu.
I know summer is on it's way, because 1 of the 2 bleeding hearts I planted last summer has come up nice and strong. I'm so very excited about that, as I was still thinking that I'd never be able to plant anything cool in my front plots. These plants are between birdhouses and I wanted a shrubby something or other to grow up and conceal most of the pole. So, the year before last I planted a bleeding heart, and Jade kept tearing it apart with the hose. It never came back last year. So I put new top soil down and planted 2 more, but alas, only the 1 came up, so far anyways. I think Jade tried killing the new one closest to the sidewalk with the hose again. In theory 1 bleeding heart should be enough to cover the spot, as they do get big over the years, but 2 would've been AWESOME! Oh well, I'm extremely happy to have the one that came back!

Summer Swap
Yesterday as I was running out the door late for my nail appointment, and my swap package came. OOOOO! who cares about a nail appointment, this was my first swap and I was very excited. Miss Judy from www.thesimpledaze.blogspot.com was my partner. Look at all my treasures
I have wanted a sheep like this for a very long time. How cool that she sent me one
This sign will go in my house I think on a big shelf above my chairs.
I will make these little stars into magnets to put on my fridge.
This little doll, which I love, will go outside on my porch, in my little rocking chair. Also you can see a little metal wheel barrow, he'll go a shelf out on my porch.
I love the detail of the embroidery on the skirt of this "Gardening Angel"
This other metal angel I will put on my porch steps I think by my mailbox, but the metal bucket shelf thing I will put in my house. Oh I love it. I also got a little bag filled with some smell good, and some seeds I will for sure plant in my front yard.
This has been a very good experience for me, and maybe I'll do it again. Thank you Miss Judy very, very much. I do appreciate all these things.
