The Olde Curiousity Shoppe: Altered Sylle

Hello friends!  Have you seen the new Graphic 45, "Olde Curiousity Shoppe" line?  This line is so much fun to work with and the sky is the limit with these fun and wacky images..LOL!  Our boys drink the canned energy drinks and this was one of those cans.  I started by painting the can with a coat of White Gesso.  This prepares the can for whatever medium you want to use such as paint, embossing powder, ink, mists, stamps...whatever your heart desires.  I decided to use black mist and copper embossing powder on my can. It makes for an interesting and textured background.

Graphic 45 2012 Design Team Audition

Hello friends!  Yesterday I was on a mission to find some of the newly released Graphic 45 collections.  I 'm so excited to see the design team call and couldn't wait to get started on some projects. Check out the details HERE!  I'm lovin' the "Olde Curiousity Shoppe", Tropical Travelogue and Little Darlings.  I wasn't able to get my grubby little hands on Little Darlings, BUT, I do have some pre-ordered and they are scheduled to ship next week.
All the projects (except the doll) are new and have been completed in the last 24 hours. 

Tin Type Altered: Steampunk Style

Hello Quick Quotes fans!  Jan here to share a Steampunk Altered Lamp using the Tin Type Paper Collection and the Chipboard Balloon.  What is "steampunk"?  "Steampunk Lab" has a great description if you're interested!
I started with an electric candle lamp and covered the shade with Tin Type 200 and inked the edges with Green Tea Powder Puff Chalking Ink.  Bringing the "steampunk" into play, add two layers of chain to the bottom of the lamp and embellish the shade with gears and washers.
The opening at the top of the shade was a perfect fit for the base of the balloon.  I simply inked a Chipboard Gear using Amaretto Powder Puff Chalking Ink  and glued Tin Type 100 to the back.  To prepare the balloon, paint with white Gesso and let dry. and ink with Lemonade and Mango Mai Tai Powder Puff Chalking Ink.  Add some "steampunk" pieces to the top, middle and base of the balloon.   Push the base of the balloon in the opening in the top of the shade and glue in place.  This will add reinforcement for the balloon.
 Add some "steampunk" gadgets to the inside of the jar.

Porcelain Doll With A New Wardrobe

Hello friends!  I've been shopping at thrift stores, looking for the perfect doll and I found her!  She was originally dressed in lavender and lace.  I really wanted to update her wardrobe so I started by removing all of her clothes and then using her clothes for a pattern.  The skirt is made using "Once Upon A Springtime",  Flight of Fancy cardstock by Graphic 45.  I really wanted to make the entire dress using paper but because of the tiny pattern pieces I didn't think I would be able to make the sleeves without tearing the cardstock.  So, I've used a silk fabric for the top of the dress, layers of lace and tulle.  The tiny buttons were part of my vintage button collection.

Sew Simple Fabric Pouches

Hello friends!  I'd like to share a simple little fabric pouch.  I've used a white flour sack towel and Aqua Baker's Twine.  Our local Dollar Store is always well stocked with towels and they work perfectly for small projects.  Using scrap pieces of the towel, I diecut flowers and added a vintage earring to the center.  To finish it up, I added a bit of fiber fill and some sweet treats.  Using a large needle, I made a loose gathering stitch at the top and then tied it shut with a bow.  I've used Aqua Baker's Twine from Really Reasonable Ribbon.     Before filling the bag, I stamped a vintage sewing machine and sentiment.  The sweet "Material Girl" stamp set is Crafty Secrets and is ON SALE!

Join Our Challenge, Won't You?

Really Reasonable Ribbon has a great challenge this week.  All you need to do is use the colors pink and brown and some ribbon, of course :)  Although I don't use these colors together very often I like the color combination. Hello friends!  I've been playing with Amazing Mold Putty again and have made a little tin.  Perfect for sweet treats or a few small keepsakes.  The paper is from "Creating With Vintage Illustrations" CD by Crafty Secrets.  This is one of my favorite papers with the clock and soft peach colors.  I molded the knob, then gave it a coat of Gray paint.  Once dry, I brushed on some peach paint and glued it  to the top of the tin.

In The Mood For Love: Berry71Bleu Challenge

Hello friends!  Are you up for a fun challenge?  Berry71bleu has a challenge that is sure to get you ready for Valentine's Day!  Here's a bit about the challenge.  Your project can be a layout, card, altered art, home decor', etc. Your project must include the color 'pink' and at least one of the following: lace, buttons, bling, and/or glitter.

How's that for fun :)  I'm sharing a Windows Album that went to CHA for Basically Bare.  As you can see there is a lot of glitter, lace, bling and the color pink :)
This album has so many pages so I'll share a few :)

As you can see, there's a ton of detail in this album.  These are some of the products I used.  Basically Bare Window Album, Graphic 45, Prima, Molding Paste and Glass Bead Gel Medium by Golden, , Tattered Angels, WOW Embossing Powders, Helmar 450 Quick Dry, Glitter, feathers, pearls, and lace.

Valentine Banner

Hello friends!  Today I'm sharing a  simple little Valentine Banner using a red and pink theme.    I've used the Double Ruffles White ribbon to hang the diecuts and doilies.   This is available at Really Reasonable Ribbon!   The vintage e-kit is Crafty Secrets and I love all the vintage images, paper and tickets and it goes so well with the pink and red theme.

A Fun Technique That's Eco Friendly

Hello friends :)  This morning I was looking around my craft room and spotted my Glue Arts Design team box that came in the mail yesterday.  The pad the contents with sheets of thin foam.  I've always kept these sheets because I knew that one day I would find a great use for them.  I used my Accucut and Tattered Florals die and cut some foam flowers.  I wasn't really sure if the Kuretake Alcohol ink would take to the foam but it DID!  EDITED:  This is my idea and technique.  Please feel free to use it, but please give credit to me <3.

Don't these look cool with the all that texture?  I heat embossed over them lightly and that added more dimension!  Don't heat too much because they will melt.  This is made using Kuretake Brown Alcohol Ink.

Here's one that was actually done with Kuretakes, Deep Pink Alcohol Ink...because the flower is saturated with ink, it turns out a deep purple.  (Mom would love this one :)

These are so fun to make, eco friendly and costs almost nothing :)

Here's what I did.

Start with  your foam sheet.

Using Accucut and Tattered Florals die, diecut.

Using a paint brush and brown alcohol ink, brush the foam flower.

Push a brad through the center of the flowers.

Saturate the flower with Brown Alcohol ink

Lightly heat emboss.
