Act Naturally - Scrapbook Circle - One Item Wonder

Wednesday, May 28, 2014

One of my final May assignments from Scrapbook Circle was to use one of their exclusives
included in the May 'High Five' kit.  I chose the stamps which are great for lots of uses.

I used the chevron stamp, over and over and over, to make this pattern on the background piece of my paper.
I used it with 4 different colors of Distress Ink and other stamping inks.  I was trying to tie in to
the chevron pattern on the right and also balance out my page so it wasn't too heavy on that right side.

I loved these Heidi Swapp acetate embellishments...I love that it adds
another layer, but still transparent so it doesn't weigh it down!

I placed the chevron stamps aligned with the center of the photo and the stripe
of black in the patterned paper.  I also used a white gel pen for my journaling
and some doodling so I didn't take too much away from the bright, vivid colors.

The other piece of the Scrapbook Circle exclusive stamp I used was this 'you + me.'
Such a versatile sentiment!

You can see the original Scrapbook Circle post HERE which also features the
May guest designer Stephanie Buice!  Her projects have been absolutely fantastic!

Thanks for stopping by today and happy hump day!

dream BIG - Scrapbook Circle May DT Choice

Monday, May 26, 2014

Happy Memorial Day everyone...hope you all are enjoying a day off or at least some nice weather!

I shared this layout using the ‘High Five’ May kit and the ‘My Fave’ Add-on last week on Scrapbook Circle.  This has been one of my favorite color combinations lately, navy & pinks, and it made putting this page together super fast!  This is a photo from my daughter’s voice recital last month and her dress was black with tiny white hearts.  It actually looks navy in this photo making this Pink Paislee Navy background paper absolutely perfect.

Obviously, this star paper from Bella Blvd, is the ideal accent paper to use for a rising star! ;)
All the little acetate and cardstock die cuts that are part of the Heidi Swapp ephemera pack
are excellent and easy to layer.

I made a little baggie for sequins and mini punched stars out of the glassine bag used for
some pieces in the kit. The little puffy globe also works well with the dream BIG title!

There is a beautiful piece of darker pink POW! paper from American Crafts in the kit that I cut
as a banner and punched those stars out of to help layer the acetate onto.  Even though this
layout includes more than four manufacturers, the colors and patterns work so well together!

Next time you need some color palette inspiration, try a little navy, pink and white!
And check out how the rest of the DT used their kits with these products!
Share your creations on the Scrapbook Circle Facebook page to inspire all of us!
Wishing you and your families a safe, happy Memorial Day!

Final Pinkfresh Projects for May!

Friday, May 23, 2014

This layout and the 2 cards are my final projects from the May reveal with Pinkfresh Studios.
I love using lots of layers and patterns, but every now and then I like to keep it clean and simple.

This photo of my daughter inspired me to use just a few colors including this
orchid color in the glitter washi tape.  I cut a large floral background on
my Silhouette and used that tape in some of the floral spaces.  The glitter washi
is great because it is pliable like washi but thicker like glitter tape and it doesn't
tear your paper if you remove it...which I did a lot of to get the tape just right!

I used a couple of the 'Fresh Drops' retro brad stickers in the centers of the
cameras' as well as pointing to the 'today' in the patterned paper below.  The round drop
stickers are similar to enamel dots, but with the weight and quality of a brad.

I used the Fresh Press cards to make a couple quick cards.
I used the orchid & gold alphas and one of the enamel drop hearts for this everyday card.

I just love the sentiment on this card and used a die cut and a few of the colorblock wood veneers.
I turned the hearts upside down like raindrops and added some Stickles to make them shimmer.

You can see the original post with all the projects from my real HERE and
check out the Blog with all the DT projects HERE...they are seriously amazing.
Instead of "winning," it is "pinning!" :)

Have a great Saturday!!

MEMORY BLOOMS... - Scrap Our Stash May Sketch

Thursday, May 22, 2014

Hi everyone!  So glad you are here today.
I am sharing my take on the May Sketch Challenge at Scrap Our Stash.

Here is the awesome sketch from Rochelle that us probably my favorite sketch at SOS.
I think this sketch is SO inspiring!  You must create your own background by using
cardstock, a stencil and/or mask and using some form of medium (ink, paint, etc) from your
stash.  Make sure to describe how you created your background in your blog post for the entry!

I used every medium I could get my hands on...stencils with mist, stencils with modeling paste, stencils
with Distress Ink, large background stamps and watercolor!!  I got a little carried away, but the photos are so powerful with the peachy iris against the dark background, that I hope it wasn't too overpowering.

I had three photos to go along with the sketch, but decided to do my journaling on a piece of vellum on top
of the middle photo.  I had a lot to write and I didn't want to take away from the background or title.

This was a special LO for me because this iris was from a bulb my mother gave to me from her
dearest friends' garden, after she died.  One if the strongest ties they had, as friends,
was their mutual love of gardening.  These bulbs were moved to my mother's garden,
then to her new home, closer to us, then divided for me.  It is a piece of a special
memory, the foundation of gardening to divide and share, and is a joy to see bloom...

Thanks for stopping by and make sure you enter this challenge before the deadline on May 29th.
The prize is:

More Pinkfresh Studio!

Wednesday, May 21, 2014

Hi there!  I wanted to share another two layouts I did for my Pinkfresh Studio Reveal!
Both layouts use the enamel Retro Instaframes.  These come in two different sizes and two
different packs of colors; neon & a more muted color set.

This was one of my first pages I did after getting a fabulous supply of goodies to work with!
And I couldn't help myself by include lots of everything!

After picking a couple Project Life cards and a journaling card from Webster's Pages to layer underneath my
photos in the frames, I stenciled on top with a stencil that was part of a Scrapbook Circle kit a few months back.

I loved this letterpress tag with the "rollin' with my homies' and so I cut it out in a banner shape and
used lots of the colorblock wood veneer to point to it!  The 'roll' inspired me to sew in a circle around the whole photo cluster and line up a couple other embellishments along that circular stitching.

This is the page that documents our Easter this year.  I wanted to use lots of photos to give
an idea of the egg hunt and the kids sifting thru the candy so using these frames were perfect!  I also thought the colors of all the enamels would work well with the 'Fresh Press' letterpress card in the middle.  There is a lot going on in this page, but I still think that the frames allow you to see one photo at a time.

First Pinkfresh Project!

Tuesday, May 20, 2014

Yesterday I had my first post on the Pinkfresh Studio Blog as part of the new DT!

I am super excited about being a part of this team...the other DT gals just blow me away.
I am humbled to get to work with such talent!  I was so inspired I made 4 layouts and 2 cards
for my first month!  Well, the products are so awesome and truly inspiring in themselves...

Yesterday was my 13th wedding anniversary and this photo was taken on our honeymoon in Santorini.
This is my favorite LO from the other Pinkfresh pages i made, and is definitely my favorite in a while!
Not because it is a photo of me, ugh, but because of the background.  It came out exactly who I envisioned it,
and that is a rare occurrence! :)

The geotag wood veneers and their colors are really what inspired this page!

I watercolored this white cardstock as if it continued from the map pattern paper below.
When I think of Santorini, I think of the vivid blue and white buildings and my favorite flavor in lemons,
and beautiful sunsets.  All of those colors are in the wood veneers, the drop stickers and the foil alphas.

I honestly didn't know how I was going to use these diamond acetate pieces from Heidi Swapp.  They were in her ephemera pack that was part of the May "High Five" Scrapbook Circle kit.  I think they worked out all right here.

One of the things that drew my to Pinkfresh before being on the DT was how unique the embellishments are.
Especially the  wood veneers.  I think the colorblock wood is so clever, especially the little envelopes!
And if the colors don't match, you can paint over them, or turn them over and just use the wood finish.  Genius.

I will be sharing the other projects throughout the week, but in the meantime,
go check out the Blog and see my original post HERE.
Check out all the products and the other projects by the DT and some of the Guest Designers.

Thanks for stopping by and have an amazing day!

I will be posting those projects here throughout the rest of the week as well!

Happy Sunday!

one tribe - Kreative Koncepts Color Challenge Reveal!

Thursday, May 15, 2014

The new color Challenge was revealed today at Kreative Koncepts!  It is a lovely palette, perfect for my Easter photos!

This is the color palette and you can see the original post and the other fabulous DT & Guest projects HERE!

I had a pile of photos from Easter and it has turned out to be one of the best holidays to capture photos of the cousins all together.  However, since they are all wearing different colors, sometimes it is perfect for
a black & white photo, which is my preference for a color challenge!  I loved these colors, very Easter-ish!

I started out with some Pink Paislee paper from their Color Wash collection and sprayed a mask on it.
Then I layered a 6x6 piece of paper and a couple journaling cards/project life cards as the mat
behind the photo.

I used another stencil for a layer of  iridescent modeling paste.
And a little random stamping with a texture grid stamp.

I used this small stencil from Heidi Swapp that is a circle with 'love' inside.
I used a distress ink applicator and daubed around it for a more subtle effect than misting.

The title is because this group of four cousins seriously sis not start to look alike until a few
months ago...they still look like respective parents, family members, but this photo made me
finally think they actually looked like 'one tribe.'

Hope you visit the Kreative Koncepts Blog and check out the challenge!
Can't wait to see all the entries.  Have a great day and thank for stopping by!

Date Night - Scrapbook Circle May Mood Board & Promo Code

Monday, May 12, 2014

This is the awesome Mood Board for May at Scrapbook Circle!
I am revealing it on the SC Blog today as well as my layout it inspired me to create.
I used both the Scrapbook Circle Main kit - High Five & the Add-on - My Fav.

These vivid colors are so fresh and make the black and white papers and photo really pop!

My eye went straight to the black & white striped chair, so that is where i started.
I also drew inspiration from the circles in the earrings, but the colors in the nail polish.
I used one of the Digi Cut files and a few of the printables that I printed out using smooth white cardstock.

My favorite embellishment included in the main kit is the pack of ephemera from Heidi Swapp.
It is comprised of both acetate and opaque die cut pieces in fabulous colors.  This hexagon is one
piece and the teal heart and "MY whole HEART" die cut underneath the photo are from it too.

One of the other things I love about the kits recently is that they are offering an extra pack of just the patterned papers.  It has made a huge difference in my ability to make faster scrapping decisions!
Since I am not worried about only being able to use one side of the paper, or splitting it up between projects.
The patterned paper in the High Five kit is the epitome of 'A' side and 'B' side, to me and so it works great.

India ink splatters really make those bright hues more vivid.
I hope you are inspired by this month's Mood Board and get some scrappy motivation on this Monday!

Another LO from National Scrapbooking Day!
We were dog sitting our nephew a couple weeks ago & Sofia took this cute selfie with her iTouch!
I had to scrap it and finally MADE myself use this wood veneer die cut!

Lots of hearts, embellishments & a couple layers of patterned paper under the photo made a super quick page!

I may have to frame this one for my daughter...
Thanks for stopping by and Happy Mother's Day!

happy DAY - Scrapbook Circle May Sketch Challenge!

Friday, May 9, 2014

There is a new sketch up at Scrapbook Circle today as well as the
DT & Guest DT pages using that sketch!
I loved that it had lots of pics so I could get some of our egg dying documented!

Here is the sketch or you can see the original blog post HERE.

I used one of the cut files in the May kit - High Five and cut it really large out of kraft paper.
That served as my title and a frame around a couple photos and pieces of patterned paper.

Heidi Swapp's 'Dreamy' collection is perfect for a page full of pastels!
I did a little water color painting and splattering to help tie in some of the Heidi Swapp ephemera too.

I stitched the whole background to another piece of teal paper from Amy Tangerine.

This sketch challenge for May runs until May 21st and the prize is a big pack of Bell Blvd.!
Submit your entry by commenting on the Blog Post

Good luck and happy DAY to you!
