Silk Plants Direct Review

I was lucky to be asked if I would be willing to do a review for some products from Silk Plants Direct and I said yes! They offer so many beautiful products I had a hard time deciding but when I saw these beautiful bird nest lanterns I just knew those were it. Be sure to check out this page on their site as well!

They come in a pair which is really nice and they have a lovely ivy type vine with berries entwining the lantern and a beautiful bird's nest with 3 pretty eggs. The nest is attached securely and I don't feel it would be easy to remove or accidentally fall out, which I appreciate having four kids!

The greenery is, in my opinion, neutral enough that you could use it for any season by adding a few extra foliage pieces to suit. I plan on adding some red holly berries and pine cones for Christmas! Of course they are perfect as is for spring and summer. The antique distressing on the wood part of the lantern is very pretty and well done and each lantern is a bit unique, which I love!

The eggs are very pretty and the speckling on them is a nice blend of subtle and realistic. I really like how soft the colors are as well.  I give this product a solid 5 stars and am very pleased to add such gorgeous decor to my home.

I have a special code if you'd like to go shopping!

Evidence That Demands a Verdict

I was so happy to have the chance of reviewing this fabulous resource, Evidence That Demands a Verdict by Josh and Shawn McDowell. One, because I own a much older copy which is falling apart from use and because this one has even more faith building truth in it's updated and revised form. I highly recommend this book to every Christian and even any person that may be skeptical of the claims of Christianity but is honestly seeking truth wherever it may lead. Five stars!

NKJV Study Bible for Kids

The NKJV Study Bible for Kids is a wonderful Bible for kids and parents. I especially love the time lines that are throughout the Bible and that they reflect a biblical time view. There are lots of other interesting articles and thought provoking sections throughout the entire Bible as well, so it really is a true study Bible. I plan to use this with my kids during our school times. They remarked to me liking the colors and that it was fun to read. I give it a solid 5 stars! Would make a great Christmas gift as well.

Love Heals- Book Review

The book Love Heals by Becca Stevens addresses the different ways God shows his love to us and offers healing. The book is set up by topics, such as healing through creation, healing through daily rituals etc. She gives examples of how these different areas have been seen her own life and those she is in contact with.  The author is the founder of a women's organization called Thistle Farms which sounds like a great ministry, but I personally disagree with a woman being a pastor or being "ordained". For that reason I can't agree with some points in the book and so only give it 3 stars.

NKJV Cultural Study Backgrounds Study Bible

The NKJV Cultural Study Backgrounds Study Bible is an amazing resource bible full of pictures, maps and topical studies. The bible is huge and heavy! I was surprised at how large it is but not at all unhappy with the size because what it is filled with is wonderful. But it is not a bible you are likely to tote around with you. I am using the bible as a major part of my home school studies this year and my kids are really enjoying it. I give this bible a solid 5 stars and highly recommend!

What I've Been Up To

Hi! I've been MIA for a bit now and thought I'd pop in and give an update on what's been going on for me.

In April I opened an Etsy shop called Florajoy Designs. I thought that I might be able to sell things here and there but instead it has exploded into a job that requires a large amount of my time. I am so thrilled with this as I am getting to design and sell my own art.

I am also busy with my 4 kids and home schooling them. Life is very full but rewarding.

Because of how much is on my plate I have stopped doing design work as I just couldn't possibly keep up with all of it. I wish I could do it all, but I can't. Being able to be in control of what creative things I'm doing is such a blessing and I am thrilled that this door opened for me.

If you'd like to see what my shop is about come visit me at Florajoy Designs and on Instagram @florajoydesigns.

Here's a peek at what I'm doing. My niche is traveler's notebook dashboards but I also create journal cards and custom orders.

100 Favorite Bible Verses -Book Review

100 Favorite Bible Verses is a beautiful book. It is filled with lovely colorful florals and has a bible verse with a short thought to go along with it. I think it would be neat to go through the book and use it as a journaling prompt or as a scripture memory tool. This book would also make a very nice gift. I give this book a solid 5 stars.

Book Review- The Weekly Prayer Project

This book called the Weekly Prayer Project has a short scripture and coordinating thought in relation to it and then asks a question to reflect on and gives ample room to journal in the book itself. The book is divided up into different topics. The art work throughout is very pretty and it comes with a ribbon bookmark which I always appreciate. This book would make a really nice gift. I give it 4 stars.

Book Review

The NIV Kids Visual Study Bible is a wonderful resource Bible not only for kids but adults! I love this Bible as much as my kids do and it is filled to the brim with photos of the actual places and artifacts in the text. I love that it is easy to just leaf through and discover interesting facts as well as use it as a full study Bible. Highly recommend! Five stars.

Swans

Hi! I have a super pretty image to share with you today called Paired Swans Swimming in a Lily Pond. I just love swans, such beautiful and regal birds.

I stamped the image onto white cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with my Copic markers. I really enjoy white images because you just use a light shade of gray in the shadowed areas and it gives the illusion of a white image without it being completely flat.

I paired the image with some patterned paper and finished it with some pen dots and a little paper rose. I hope you have a creative day!

Cherry Blossoms

Hi! Today I have a pretty card to share with you using the gorgeous Inspired By Stamping set Cherry Blossoms.

I started by stamping my image onto white cardstock and then creating a mask so that I could use Distress ink for the background.

I colored the image with Copics and mounted it onto some contrasting cardstock. I used some ribbon from the Pink's ribbon collection and my sentiment is from the stamp set.

I finished the card with some faux stitching. Hope you have a great day.

Birds in a Nest

Hi! Leah here with you today with a sweet card that could be used for so many occasions or just because the image is so sweet. The image is called A Family Nesting in a Cherry Tree.

I stamped the image onto white cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then colored the image with Copic markers. I chose some contrasting patterned paper for the background and layered it behind the image.

I added some faux stiching and  twine bow with a little gem stone in the middle. I hope you are having a great day. Thanks for stopping by!
