Bare with me, I got a lot to tell you.  :)  All good stuff that you will want to hear.  

I am on vacation!!!

Glimmer Mist Technique

Have you tried Glimmer Mist from Tattered Angels yet?  I love it!  It looks great on chipboard and grungeboard.  I have used it on paper accents too.  The Glimmer Mist comes in all sort of colors, although you may have to search for your favorite colors.  :)  My local scrapbook store does not carry them, but you can find them online.  ScrapLovers has some here.

This week I played around with their new screens.  These are templates you can buy to use with your  Glimmer Mist.  Although

you could use whatever stencils or templates you already own.  I have plenty of them for both scrapbooking and quilting.

First thing, when you lay out your product that you are going to use the glimmer mist on, make sure you cover the surrounding area.  If you are one of those people who do not like ink on their fingers, I suggest you wear gloves.  :)  Me...I always have ink on my fingers.  

Then just spray over the template.  :)  I moved mine around to use around the whole page.  Once you are done, just go rinse the template under running water and dry with a towel.  Then let your paper or product dry.  You will notice that I do have small globs that came out.  I didn't mind it though...I thought it just added to the design.

New LO

So I cleaned my scrap room this week.  :)  And I was so inspired that I did two LO's and a card last night.  Here's one of the LO's:

The other LO and the card I will post tomorrow, because I want to type up a tutorial to go with them.  :)

Oh, and here is the scoop on the Black Market Paper Society (for those of you who have asked)...

I have their catalog.  There are 4 lines:  "Ebony & Alabaster" (black and white collection), "Letters from Paradise" (bright and fun...absolutely gorgeous!), "Lucky 'n Love" (yes, it is a "love" collection but it is not pink or red!  It is brown and teal, and looks like a lot of fun!), and then there is the "Let it Bloom" collection (urban chic colors with more flowers).  

The Coconut ScrapShop has the "Letters from Paradise" line and it is already shipping out!  I have ordered it myself and as soon as I get it, I will get some pages done to post (I am really excited about this collection).  

And the Lucky 'n Love line will be in the June kit at the Coconut ScrapShop...so you won't want to miss that!  :)  I will have pages to post soon with the June kit.  

All the Buzz

Have you heard the buzz about the Black Market Paper Society?  It's a new company....they were at the last CHA...their papers are GORGEOUS!!!  But just try and google them, you won't find much.  They don't have a website because they are trying to create a buzz...a story about their stuff...the appearance of a product on the "black market."   It's crazy!  I don't know of any other scrapbooking company that has done something like this.  The plan is to not advertise???  Doesn't that sound a bit crazy.  Yet it seems to be working.  I have seen two threads now over at 2peas talking about it and wondering where to buy it.  What do you think?  Good idea?  Bad idea?  Genius?  Are you intrigued?

Cards :)

Just realized that I never posted my cards that I did at the beginning of the month when  I did the card workshop at my church.  Here they are: 

This one is hard to see because the actual card is white.  Sorry.  I should have outlined it or something.  Also, the design is not my own.  I came across a card like this a while back online and copied it into my idea folder...but neglected to save the info so I could give credit to the appropriate person for the design...so sorry!  

Such a simple card, but people really enjoyed this one.  :)  

So sorry for the poor quality on this one.  I just scanned it, but because of the 3'd-ness...it didn't scan well.  I should have just took a picture.  Oh well.  :)  Anyways, it was a fun workshop with great response.  Our next one won't be until we do Christmas cards.  

Week 3 of Up and Running

I can't believe we are already 2/3 of the way through the Up and Running with Photoshop class with Jessica Sprague.  I have really learned a lot so far.  :)  I am thinking of signing up for her next class too.  Well here is this week's work:

Here is my work from week 2 of the Jessica Sprague "Up and Running with Photoshop" class.

This one was really my first page doing it all on my own.  All of our previous LO's we have been walked through everything.  This time the assignment was just to use the white paper and use more than one photo...then play and see what you create.  It took me a LONG time and I must have used the "step backwards" option a million times...but I am learning.

ScrapLovers Reveals

Learning Digital

I have decided to take the "Up and Running with Photoshop" class offered by Jessica Sprague.  I had been wanting to for awhile, and the timing was just perfect for this one.  I will never be a full-on digital scrapbooker...I love the hands on too much, but I often do pages that would be considered hybrid, and I think that learning photoshop would greatly increase my current scrapbooking skills.  :)  So, as we approach week two of this Up and Running course, I thought I would share with you what I have done in week 1.  :)  It has been fun!

 Being nice…caring about people…serving others…it is my passion.  I choose to live this way.  But it goes beyond passion and choice…it is a lifestyle.  It is a way to impact the world and help others.  By helping others…I help myself.  By being nice to others…I learn to like myself.  I try to always see things from other’s points of views.  I try to always help out when I can.  Love one another…it is not a cliché…it is the answer.  It may sound cheesy, but can you imagine how much better the world would be if we all displayed more kindness…more love for each other?  This is the legacy that I hope to leave for my children…if I can teach them to be nice—then I have accomplished much!!!  {Gal. 5:13}

I am proud…I mean this in 2 different ways.  First of all, I am very proud of my mother, for opening her own quilt shop.  She catches a lot of slack for all the time and $ she has put into this—but this is her dream—she has always wanted to open one.  And she is so good at it—the way she pays attention to the little details of everything in the shop.  And I hear the customers talk of how much they love her shop!  And, secondly, I am proud to be a quilter myself…in times when it may not be popular.

Creative Adventures Album

So I was SUPER busy this past weekend.  But I managed to do Erin's Creative Adventures "class" online at Creating Keepsakes for National Scrapbook Day.  I did it LATE on Saturday evening.  :)  But I had been following along all week.  It was so fun.  The project was a mystery, so on the first day we were told to pick out a ribbon that we liked, and our whole project would feature the ribbon. Then she told us we needed to go buy black illustration board and black duct tape.  I went and did it.  Then it was time to buy cardstock and patterned paper that matched the ribbon we had picked out.  It really was so fun, we had no idea what we were making.  I am thinking that this would be a fun thing to do on my blog or on one of the boards I am on.  :)  Anways, here is what my final project looks like:

I followed the same theme.  Erin's was Then, Now, and Next...an album of "Me."  I did the Past, Present, and Future "Me".  I did it a little different though, in that I made it more of a journal, with less focus on photos and more on where I have been, where I am, and where I am going along the concept of "me." Other pages included journaling on religion, money, parenting skills, and personal views.

I put the date on the back.  I think I may add a current photo of me right above the date.   I am really happy with the way this project turned out.

Don't add...Take away!

Want to see another LO from my HOF entry?  Well, here it is.  This was for the "Inventive Technique" assignment.  It was really hard coming up with something that hasn't been done before.  And, to be honest, this has probably been done before.  You know people do it and then put paper or something behind it, but my challenge to use is to leave it blank...don't put anything behind it.  

Thought process/inventive technique:

* To me, this page still looked like it needed something a little more…I thought about adding something to it, but then decided instead to take away from it.   And after taking it away…I added nothing behind it…I left the empty space in the middle of the page…and I love it.  

* Another idea to try--when I looked at my word strip stickers that I wanted to use...I didn't find enough that I thought worked well.  But I did see a "Discover," so I cut it and made the word "cover."
