Lawn Fawnatics Challenge #31- Flowers, Floral, and Foliage Take Two

Well, wouldn't you know it, I was just saying I have no real floral themed Lawn Fawn...

I placed an order at my local store a while back and it came in much quicker than I expected. I certainly didn't expect it to be here before this challenge closed.

So I had to put something together with these adorable images from Gleeful Gardens. I just love those little toadstools. I think I've said it before- but for someone that doesn't really like mushrooms, I certainly love stamping and colouring them! I stamped several images from the Gleeful Gardens set, fussy cut them and got to colouring. I used mostly Copics, but a few Stampin' Blends as well. I have to say I am loving how well these markers work together, especially since the Stampin' Up ones have the very fine nib, which is awesome for tiny corners! I will definitely be getting the new colours throughout next year's stamp club!

For the greeting on the card, I used the thank you from Fairy Friends (also just got this set). I actually cut apart the thank you and fairy much (yes... I cut apart a BRAND NEW stamp, lol), but this makes it much more versatile. And if I want to use it in its original punny state, it's super easy to piece back together. I finished off all the elements with little highlights of white gel pen. The hummingbird and snail also have a light coating of Spectrum Noir shimmer, but it didn't come through in the photos.

Thanks for coming by!

Lawn Fawnatics Challenge #31- Flowers, Floral, and Foliage

The latest challenge over at Lawn Fawnatics was a bit tricky for me. Although I have recently grown my Lawn Fawn stamp collection, I do not have much in the the Flower, Floral or Foliage theme, so I decided to think a bit outside the box and show the bike character on his way from picking up flowers from a florist.

There aren't a ton of flowers on here, but I like the story it tells.

I started with the background elements. I used the Stitched Snow Drifts to make my green hill and grey road. The frame is from the stitched rectangle scallop frame. For the sky, I used Distress Oxides- Blueprint Sketch and Broken China with the Sun Ray Stencil.

Next up, I started assembling the town and the cyclist. I used the single flower from the Bicycle Built for You to add to the shop sign from Village Shops. The images were coloured with a mix of Copics and Stampin' Blends.

Lastly, I added a greeting from Ways to Say Thank You. I curved the stamp so it would follow the line of the hill.

Fall to Layout #77 Take Two!

Happy Sunday!

I have a happy little mermaid card to share today.

Here's the sketch! You could easily make this a standard 4.25 x 5.5 card front, but I decided to make a longer, thinner style card.

The dimensions I used:
  • Card Front: 3.5 x 6
  • Patterned Side Panel: 3.5 x 1.75
  • Glitter Strip: 3.5 x  .25

Now, onto the card!
I just got this Seaside Textured embossing folder, and had to use it, so I embossed some teal card stock and cut it down to size. For the thin strip, instead of ribbon or twine, I decided to use some of this fun glitter paper. I love it since it adds a different type of texture.

I also only just hopped on the Magical Day bandwagon- I know, a bit late given that they didn't actually carry over this fun set to the catalog (What was Stampin' Up! thinking???) I stamped the mermaid and seahorse first and then die cut them. I coloured them with mostly Stampin' Blends- Pool Party, Bermuda Bay, Calypso Coral, and Daffodil Delight. I also added just a touch of a Copic -R32 for her blush circles. To add more shimmer, I used a glitter jelly roll pen and added bits of shimmer the mermaid's hair, tail, and the seahorse.

I added a few aqua gems for even more sparkle and to give a bubble like element.

Lastly, I decided on this fun sentiment. It's an oldie from Verve Stamps. Be sure to check them out, they are closing up shop after 11 years so there are a few more items left before she closes at the end of June. Julee is such a lovely, kind person, so be sure to have a look.

Supplies:
Stamps: Magical Day, Wild Thing
Ink: Tuxedo Black
Paper: Taken with Teal, Stamper's Select, Glitter paper
Accessories, etc.: Stampin' Blends, Seaside Textured embossing folder, rhinestones, shimmer pen

As always, I'd love to see your take on the sketch. Please leave a link if you play along!

Fall to Layout 76 Take Two

Happy Sunday and Happy Father's Day to all the dads and father figures out there!

First of all, a few housekeeping points- I've decided to transition the Take Two Clean and Simple Stamping sketches over to this blog. I'll still post the sketch, the dimensions, my card for the challenge and the link up every Sunday around 10AM CST- it will just be here instead of the Clean and Simple Stamping blog.

So onto the sketch- I decided to skip #75 and move onto the next sketch.

Here's the sketch.
Some dimensions for you:
Card Base: 4-1/4 x 5-1/2
Squares: 1-1/4 x 1-1/4 (4)

Here's my card!

I used the new Village Shops stamp set. I love that little ice cream truck,so I used that for my "heart" element from the sketch. I stamped, cut out and coloured the little truck. To make some coordinating ice cream paper I took the tiny ice cream cone and stamped it with Aqua Mist ink on Aqua Mist paper for some subtle tone on tone stamping.

I modified the sketch ever so slightly and placed the sentiment on one of the squares.

Supplies:
Stamps: Village Shops
Ink: Aqua Mist, Tuxedo Black, Tropical Teal
Accessories, etc: Kraft Baker's Twine, Copics

Lawn Fawnatics Challenge 30 – Cards for Guys

Hi everyone!

I've got my challenge card up for the latest Lawn Fawnatics Challenge- For the Guys. I decided to take things Under the Sea for this challenge.

I was quite inspired by the recent Jennifer McGuire Shadow Box video and thought I would make my own featuring and underwater scene.

I ended up doing this all a bit background, since I made the inside of my card first and then the outside. I would highly recommend getting anything that is meant to be stamped on the actual card front or base before assembling the shadow box components- unless you work best under pressure and stress. There were A LOT of careful maneuvers done with the sentiment stamping to make sure I didn't blow the whole card.

As I use more Lawn Fawn products, I am beginning to understand why people want ALL the sets. Everything works really well together- the line art is the same thickness and so many items are proportionate. Like my dapper manatee (as I was fondly calling him) has components from 3 sets (4 if you are counting the wave stitched background)
The sentiment and manatee come from the Manatee-rific set, the top hat is from Bicycle Built for You, and the bow tie is from the Rawr set.

I coloured him with Copics and added white details and highlights using a white gel pen.

The background consists of 3 different aqua/teal papers cut using the stitched wave borders, all adhered to a grey circle.

Now for the inside! Here I also used 3 different image sets, plus another one for the sentiment
Most of the images come from the You Are Sublime set. The jellyfish is from So Jelly and I also used some of the kelp from Manatee-rific.

Once I had my shadow box components scored, I started on my insert. I blended Distress Oxides- Cracked Pistachio, Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean, and Blueprint Sketch. Next I misted it with my distress spray bottle- I love this since it applies a mist or larger droplets- I did a mix of both.

Next I cut out and coloured all my scene components. I colours these all with Copics.I also stamped a few bubbles on the background using white ink. To give dimension to the whole scene, I layered a few images. The jellyfish is on the outside of the shadow box. The eel is adhered on the back of the top layer. The diver is on pop dots, as is the shell he is holding

Here they are front and inside, side-by-side! Thanks for stopping by!
