Last week for Family Home Evening we went to a local pumpkin patch to pick out pumpkins for Aiden and Macie. We would have rather gone to a pumpkin patch where you actually go out into the field and pick your own but because of lack of planning we ended up at this one. (Maybe next year) It was still really nice. Aiden really liked it and they had a nice variety of gourds that he was quite impressed with.

Two chubby pumpkins
Remember this picture? We couldn't put Aiden in a gourd and not do the same for Macie. What kind of parent would I be? Can you tell tell them apart? I had to add the bow to Macies hat so that when I look at these pictures several years down the road I will be able to tell whose who.

What we have been up to...September 2011
This is what we were up to in September
A couple pictures of the kids because they are so cute
Aiden helping daddy water the garden
Aiden always makes sure Macie has everything she needs
One night for Family Home Evening we went bowling with our good friends, the McNabbs
Even though Aiden lost interest about 4 frames in, he still did really well. Way better then I did.
Macie and Hazel had fun bowling too.

The Grover's come to town...part 2
One of the things on their North Carolina bucket list was to go the Outer Banks. So we rented a town house in Kitty Hawk for a few days, packed up our cars and headed out. We really wanted to take them to Hatteras but alas that stupid Hurricane Irene ruined out plans once again. Hwy 12 suffered a lot of damage and was washed out in 3 places. Needless to say, we could not get on the island. We still had a ton of fun. There was so much to do that we actually did not get to spend much time just sitting at the beach. We did do a lot of neat stuff though so I hope the Grover's enjoyed their first Outer Banks trip. Hopefully it will not be the last.
We decided to do a dolphin watch. This was one of my favorite things we did on the trip. We started seeing dolphins about 10 min in which is actually not normal. They were very active and playing the entire time so we defiantly got our moneys worth .
"The money shot" This was pure luck. Turns out if you shoot camera enough times you can catch a dolphin mid jump.
The kids helping collect data
These were the only lighthouses on the Outer Banks I have not seen yet. I guess now they are all checked off my list.
Currituck Lighthouse in Corolla
Bodie Island Lighthouse
There was one day that was suppose to rain so we planned a trip to the aquarium on Roanoke Island. I think it actually turned out to be a nice day but I don't think there were any regrets about going to the aquarium.
Playing at the beach
We are crabbing off the dock. We were catching them as fast as we could throw our bait out but we didn't end up staying to long (10 min i think) because the mosquitoes were CRAZY so we gathered up the kids and ran as fast as we could to the car to keep from getting any more of their nasty bites
The Grover's come to town...part 1
When our good friends, the Grover's, told us they were coming to visit from Utah we were thrilled. We had been talking about it really, since we moved here. They flew in at the beginning of September. (Just a few days after my family left) We had so much fun with them. When we lived by each other and hung out all the time they had one baby girl. Now between us we have 5 kids. Our kids got along great and had a lot of fun together. We had so much fun talking about old memories and making new ones. I hope they enjoyed it as much as we did. Thanks Ryan and Mindy. We hope we can do it again in a few years!
We started the vacation out with a trip to the lake. We grilled up some hamburgers and hot dogs for lunch and then headed out on the boat.
When I started this post I realized I didn't have very many pictures from the lake so I stole this picture from Mindy's blog.
Of course our job of entertaining our guests would not be complete without a trip to Marbles.
The tower we built. (Paul was determined to get this as tall as we could)
Of course Aiden found the train table
I think this is where Aiden spent most of his time, "depositing" the little green balls.
Macie's Baby Blessing
On August 28, 2011 we blessed our little girl, Macie Adeline Butler. We were so grateful for the family that was able to come and really missed those who were not there. It was such a beautiful blessing and such a wonderful day. We love this girl with all our hearts and we could not ask for a sweeter spirit to join our family. She is such a smiley happy girl. I just hope that we are able to give her all that she deserves in life. I pray that we can be an example to her of how to live a righteous life and help her to make good decisions. We love you Macie Moo.

Thank you everyone for coming and supporting us

Macie's baby blessing did not exactly go according to plan. These natural disasters sure do know how to ruin a good party. Because of the hurricane Paul's parents had a big tree uprooted right next to their house. Because they had the tree uprooted right next to their house and were not sure exactly what it was going to do (it was suspended by the electric wires next to the house) they decided it would be best to stay home. Because they decided to stay home Paul thought it would be best to leave Sunday morning and go help them take the tree down. Because Paul was going to be leaving Sunday morning, we had to instead have everyone meet us at the church and do the blessing in the Relief Society room instead of in Sacrament Meeting. Because we were doing it early in the morning we decided to have the family come over for breakfast. I was still planning a luncheon with family and a few friends that afternoon but because we ate so late and Paul and my dad were leaving we decided to instead change it to dinner and eat when they got back. As we were getting the food ready on of the kids started throwing up (the bug from an earlier post). Needless to say we cancelled the dinner. We are lucky our friends are so understanding. Even though the day did not go according to plan we were still able to bless our sweet little girl and that was what was important.
