Hi Guys & Gals, I have to disappoint you all....
Hi to all my ex students,
I'm sorry to have to disappoint you all. But I have to cancel the party at my place. The school is still taking precautionary measures to minimize the spread of H1N1 next week. You will realise when you go back to school that the desks in your classrooms are to be arranged into single rows and teachers are encouraged to avoid sustained group work. Another instruction that we receive from Principal is that pupils should not linger around in school after school hours or remedials. If we see any groups of pupils loitering or playing in school, we are to tell them to go home.
Here are instructions from school too.
Avoiding Mass Gatherings
5. All CCAs will continue to be cancelled for next week but remedials can
be continued. For the P1 & P2, do not ask the students to come earlier than
noon for remedial classes as you can use the time from noon to conduct the
lessons.
8. Assembly, Flag Raising, Flag Lowering, Contact Time (Staff Fun Day),
Learning Day (Co-core Committees) and PD sessions will be cancelled for
next week.
With all these tight measures and precautionary measures in school, I can't risk having you all to my place. This decision is made more of protecting you than for another other reasons. Cos if one of us got H1N1, there will be tracking and we will have to go on leave of absence and which means we will miss 7 days of school. That's not wise and worth risking cos Prelims and PSLE is coming. I do not want you all to take unnecessary risk just for to celebrate my birthday. I know your kind intentions and it does break my heart that I can't open my house and celebrate my birthday with you all this year. But we have to be rational and I have to be firm on this. But I will promise you all a surprise. So keep guessing!
And pls dun buy me presents for my birthday. I feel so bad and embarrassed to keep receiving things from you all. Just remember me and do drop me emails to ask abt me and update me on what's going on in your life k. Stay connected. I may not email you back that often cos of my travels and maybe lacked of internet access. But be assured that once I read them, I will reply. That's a promise! Don't be too disappointed k. I know many of you really want to come my place. Some of you even offered to come straight after school to help me prepare food. Some daring ones even insisted I cook and wanna try my cooking! God Bless you! haha... You guys have faith in my cooking! Maybe when I'm in Thailand, I will learn a dish or 2 and make them for you when I'm back!
I will be flying off to Thailand next Saturday for a conference and only be back on 26th July. Then I will be off for Thailand on 15th August. I hope to come back to school for a day before I fly off and bide you all farewell and good luck for yr PSLE. So in meantime, study hard. This is the last lap before the real deal! Push yourself a little so that you know you will have no regrets for you have given your best! I will always remember you, think of you and love you no matter where I am. Will remember you all in my prayers too!
Love you, Miss Tan

Who let the cat out? *meow..meow...meow..meow*
Hi 5A 2008,
I think I can finally let the cat out. Yes, some of you have heard. Yes, it's official. I'm leaving CCKPS on the 3rd July.... Yes, I'm leaving Singapore in July.... And I'm going to Thailand to be a volunteer English teacher. My plan is to go there to teach for 2 years. But things may change... so for now, I'm looking at it a year at a time.
I can only explain myself now cos my leave was only approved very recently. And on Monday, the new teacher to take over my class was finally here and I have officially handed over my duties and classes to her. That's why I can officially tell you guys that I'm leaving.
I guess if you have known me well these years. It's not hard to understand why I have made this decision. I have been making short trips trips down to Northern Thailand since 2007 during the holidays. So last year, I have decided to make a longer term commitment there.
I had wanted to leave in December last year but it's a bit too rushed for me. Emotionally, I was not ready. And I was anticipating the arrival of a new family member, my nephew Evan, in February. I hoped to be there to welcome him into the world. So as things progressed and digressed, finally I'm all ready to fly off in July.
I think it's good that you know that I'm leaving now. I see you all have matured quite a bit. And I'm sure that you will be happy for me, just as I would be happy for you when you pursue things that you passionately desire. And after 6 months with a new teacher, think most of you are quite settled in already.. (*tsk..tsk* except a couple of you who seems to behave even more mischievous than last years)
So dun feel sad, for I'm only leaving at most for 2 years. And there's internet access there. I can still keep in contact with all of you. I will want to know yr PSLE results & share in your joy when you got the results and the secondary school that you have been working hard for.
If you remembered, I even told you before that I want to celebrate and also to share in your joy on yr 21st birthday, your wedding, your first baby and all other major events in your life. (That is if you allow me to)So this is NOT goodbye.
Do not throw me a farewell party k. And don't use this as an excuse to come out & play... hehee... I mean, this is not really farewell. But I will be glad to meet you up before I leave for my overseas stint. Want to give you a pre-PSLE confidence booster too! Dun be angry with me for leaving at this crucial period of your time k. I'm full of apologies for not being able to walk along with you during this stressful time. But I know I've left you in the good hands of Mdm Teo & Mdm Phua.
This is something I have been praying for and looking towards for a long time. I will keep all of you in my mind, my hearts and pray for you even when I'm in Thailand. That's a promise k.
I've promised Sherry that we'll all meet up together as a class in July before I leave. She's going back home in June so can only meet up in July. so is that fine with everyone?
Sorry too that I've not been faithful in keeping this blog up-to-date. I need someone to co-admin this classblog with me. anyone?
Alright, you can still look for me in school. My last day of work is on the 2nd July.
Hope I answer most of your questions for now.
Love, Miss Tan

Welcome to 2009!
Hi 5A(2008),
Happy New Year!
It's great to be back to school, isn't it? I was feeling all jittery and nervous as I walked into the school gate at 1110am this morning. Never was I in the pm session before. Feels kinda funny. (Oops, dun mind my poor English. I'm rushing to finish this entry cos I need to go collect my new class in the hall in 5 mins time.) It's like I'm late for school but in actual fact school doesn't start for me until 1230pm.
I'm excited to be back to school. I hope you are too. This year is going to be a real challenge for all of us, especially you all. I hope you can settle down quick and be more focused on your studies. I'm really happy to know Mdm Teo and Mdm Susie Phua are taking your class. They are very experienced and one of the best teachers/colleagues I know in CCKPS. So you all are very fortunate. Must work hard ok. I'm still around. Taking class 2J this year. You can "book" me anytime for coffee, tea, ice jelly in school or outside school if you need someone to chat with, laugh with or even a listening ear. You guys will always be in my heart and mind. So do behave yourselves and continue to make me proud of you as you always do.
Take care children. Love you all always. God Bless!
Love and Hugs and Kisses,
Miss Tan
