A New Year but Remembering Yesterday

I have attempted - many times I must add - to blog our journey together as an engaged couple, the process of preparing for the wedding (and marriage), the wedding itself, and then the many other receptions we've had (ok, not THAT many but THREE altogether), however obviously time has not really permitted - and of course the lack of discipline thereof.

So let me begin this entry by wishing everyone a very blessed new year 2010! I must admit that it has not totally sunk in that it IS already 2010.. then again, a lot of times, it feels like it has not sunk in that I AM actually married to the most incredible man in the world!

So yes, we have been married THREE times, okay not married three times, married ONCE but celebrated 3 times which really lasted for a month! It has truly been quite a journey, working things out, planning with different people and the many many rounds of endless celebration lunches and dinners and get-to-know-the-family sorta thing and on hindsight - honestly - I don't remember much of the little details, but definitely remember the lessons learnt thru this.

The Melbourne wedding - ceremony and reception was the most amazing, needless to say! We absolutely had a blast!

Thanks to Jesus who answers all prayers, the one which was constantly on our list (and many others on our behalf) was the weather. We have always wanted a garden wedding, and obviously since it was OUTDOORS, the weather needed to be good. Beautiful. Perfect. We had no backup, no standby marquee whatsoever - as we truly had faith to believe (and because I'm marrying an intercessor, and the whole team of intercessors was going to be there) that it would NOT rain! So the whole week prior to the wedding, i tell you - EVERY SINGLE day, I checked the weather forecast and to my horror, it was forecasted to rain. Of course it gave me the jitters after a few days but we chose to believe that He wants us to have a beautiful wedding too!

On the morning itself, it was gloomy, cloudy and.. well, looked like it would rain. But then suddenly just past noon, the clouds literally parted and gave way to the sun and clear skies! And much to our delight, it stayed that way the whole ceremony! It was really so beautiful with a bit of breeze and towards the end when everyone brought out their little bottles of bubbles and ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!! Couldn't have asked for more! =)

And literally, I didn't have to do or worry about ANYTHING because I had such a GREAT team of friends who made this day possible! (which will be in another post)

The reception was a blast too, the atmosphere, the intimacy and of course my very own father and my father-in-law who were really too funny for their own good in their speeches; together with Anna and Chenny whose speeches were heartfelt and hilarious! Ashlynn and Nathalynn had a surprise dance which had Hau Wei pulling me to dance, and then the dear hubby sang me 'I Will Be Here' followed by more dancing!

Will leave it here for now, and will try to be more consistent in the future!

Words

God give me patience for people who say one thing but mean another!

Perhaps I’m just being a bit too emotional because things are starting to get a bit overwhelming and am really feeling under the pump, but as far as I’m concerned, I really dislike people without integrity. People who say something but do something else. Even if it meant doing it sub-standardly.

It really doesn’t matter if the person says ‘do whatever you want, as long as you’re happy’ but then turns around after you’ve done what you want and tells you that whatever I’ve chosen to do is rubbish and then decide to do it themselves, OR if the person says ‘I’ll do it!’ but then doing it half heartedly, and after doing it, goes around complaining or wishing they hadn’t said yes.

I believe it is so crucial for us to be a man and woman of our word. Because when we are not, other people are affected, time wasted, hearts hurt.

Jesus was a man of His word. I want to be like Jesus.

Clock is ticking, time is flying!

87 more days to go!

After a fantabulous and indescribably, life-changing planetUNI camp at Philip Island, its really time to get down to wedding planning and execution!

a HUGE thanks to all of you who helped to cut and fold our invites and envelopes (i know its a pain, and i will warn the next brides-to-be's on what NOT to do).. and please know from the very bottom of my heart, I REALLY appreciate all your hard and heart work! And of course, thanks to the brilliant designer and mastermind behind all this, Anthony!

Now that all the invites are cut and a few more envelopes to fold, we have started handing them out yesterday at discipleship. It really does give us a sense of 'OMG, it's ALL HAPPENING NOW'.. and it gives a sense of accomplishment and moving on feeling! Which is... great I suppose!

And then today, I went for chiro and we ordered our bed! =) One more thing off the list~ And one item less to buy for the house haha.

We need to start thinking and buying furniture for our home! So few Saturdays left! But so exciting toooo!

Time sure flies!

Month by month, week by week, day by day... just flies in a blink of an eye!

My goodness, it sure has been an 'eventful' month.. or rather months, and I must say you don't have to be engaged to know that!

It's mid-August already, and it STILL feels like we have heaps of stuff to do for the wedding (maybe because we're not focused on the wedding at all, and there's always more important things to take care of) - although I must say that we have agreed that we don't want to be consumed by the wedding preparation as it will only last for .. at most an evening, but rather start preparing for our marriage instead - which subconciously, unconciously, we have been doing just that.

It was interesting how when we went for our first pre-marital counselling session with the Bryants, they echoed the same thing as well about focussing so much on the wedding day that couples struggle when they begin their lives together. So as much as I was overwhelmed and frustrated about not being able to focus and do 'wedding-stuff' as much as other engaged couples are doing, I am trying to find peace that, no matter what, everything will fall into place because God's going to make it happen anyway. Of course there's nothing wrong with what and how others are preparing, its just that we have to recognise that everyone's lives are different, each having different priorities in life and we're all called to do different things! So yes, i don't want to be boxed up to think that I'm not doing enough etc just because other people are doing it differently.

We went for our final inspection yesterday - after postponing settlement a couple of times, our loan has finally been approved, and now its just a few days to being proud owners of our humble home! We're loving it!

Can't wait to slowly set up a place I can now call.. HOME!

Short Breakaway Weekend to Hobart!

A very much well needed break before I drive myself NUTS!

Work has been absolutely crazy, on top of other stresses of life - which I shouldn't have really been bothered stressing over now that I think of it, but hey, its all part of our journey of life and learning to continually surrender to God and actively asking Him to come and take control!

Back to our trip, it was an eventful weekend and it all started with Anna staying over and we woke up at some ungodly hour to catch our 8am flight. Li and Dave drove themselves to the airport and Chenny, HW, Elyn, Anna and myself made our way there ourselves. The boys (well more of Mr Hwt) parked at the wrong parking area which would not let them have the discounted rates, ran back to the car and tried parking at the designated cheap area only to realise that it was full. They went to their car 10 mins before boarding (which increased my stress level) - imagine missing the flight! And arrived back 5 mins after ppl boarded. Gahh!

Our first destination was Shaun's, where we unloaded our luggage, loaded fishing and oyster picking gear, and junk food he bought for our road trip and had a quick Macca's breakfast and headed to the jetty to take a ferry to Bruny Island. The island was huge and we drove around, stopped at a few points to take pics. Can't really remember the name of the places but i remember one of it being Cloudy Bay! ehhe

After that we had lunch at this yummylicious place some sort like a green house, and everything was home made! Super duper yummy!

Then Shaun brought us to fish and get our oysters - that was really the highlight of our trip! Most of us weren't appropriately dressed to go into the water to pick (well it wasnt as easy as picking because it needed the hammer and chisel!) oysters except HW who changed into his boardies and slippers! chenny went in for awhile and then Li, the adventurous one, took over.

The drama began when an octopus swept over Li's feet and she fell because of shock, and the rest of us were over with Shaun where he was fishing heard her piercing scream. When I rushed over, she was being helped by Hw to get up and out of the water. That was when HW realised she was bleeding, but not until we sat her down that we saw how DEEP her gashes were. Her flesh was literally sticking out and SO much blood oozing out. Thank God for Shaun - the doctor-to-be for bandaging and stopping her bleeding while waiting for the ambulance to arrive. The paramedic even praised Shaun for doing all the right things! Well done Shaun!

It was definitely a God thing as the paramedic, Lee, said that he was going to go to his mother-in-laws place but felt the need to stay home a little longer because he felt that he was going to be called. And we did. And he came. And he helped!

Took the last ferry back to Hobart and drove straight to the ER, where Shaun was a bit hesitant because usually there would be like a 5 hour wait before your turn, but we actually prayed that there would be no one / few ppl at the hospital, and true enough when we arrived, there were only 3 ppl there! WOW God is reallllly good! Dave and Shaun accompanied Li while the rest of us went to look for dinner and then picked Shaun up while Dave waited with Li to have her xrays done and get stitched up.

By the time they arrived back at YHA, it was 1.30am. 6 hours solid in the hospital was not a joke, and Li was on crutches then.

Next day, while Dave and Li stayed home at Shaun's the rest of us went to church with Shaun, had seafood lunch at Mures, bought fish and chips for the 2, checked on Li and then went out to Mt Wellington with the hope to see snow! But all we saw was this: SLUSH! -_-" but its ok, we got to wear our beanies and gloves and all as it was 0degrees!

Went back rested awhile before heading off to the airport and then being told that our flight was delayed for 2 and half hours! So instead of arriving back at 830pm, by the time we arrived home and got ready for work the next day, it was 12plus am!

It was a fun trip, relaxing one, not just rushing from one place to another.. and .. HW and I are planning another trip again! Cheap flights pleaseeeeee!
