4 cross quilts || New colorway

Well, hello there gold cross (or plus) quilts!  Are you swooning?  I have to admit there was a small moment of burnout.  I did not want to look at or make another plus quilt, but after completing them and taking photos, I am back in love.  Will this style ever die?  Nope.  I think this trend will soon become a classic.  Three of these are for sale and are listed in my shop.  There will be more gold quilts coming in the future, possibly venturing away from this print, so stay tuned.  I hope you like them as much as I do!

Etsy Find || Pink Rug Co.

Pink Rug Co
It was this photo that directed me to Pink Rug Co, and holy bananas!  Can I say love twenty times over??!   Pink Rug Co. offers a variety of unique boucherouite rugs that can instantly add character to any space.  It is a bit on the pricey side, but these rugs really make a statement.  The smaller rugs could be used on a wall for art as well.

Boucherouite rugs are usually recycled fabric rugs that have been woven together.

I've selected a few of my favorites from Pink Rug Co.  All images belong to Pink Rug Co.

Here is another photo of a boucherouite rug in action.

You can see their entire collection at Pink Rug Co.  So are you fan?  Would you like to have one of these rugs in your home?

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great weekend!

The EM Quilt

Besides the binding, this quilt was actually finished awhile back, but I just have not had the time to get it posted.  Story of a quilter's life, right?

The more I am quilting, the more I am noticing my style and theme.  I gravitate towards clean lines, graphic designs, bold prints, and the color white!  I do have plans to break these molds though, but right now, I am just enjoying the journey.  I just love, love, love this quilt, and I will be forever jealous of the person that gets to take this home.   There will be more in the future!  Right now, the EM quilt is available in red, and I will soon have this available in black!  This is a larger quilt measuring 53" x 54."  Great for a child or used as a lap quilt for an adult.

I have a very specific reason for naming this quilt EM.  EM is short for Emily and is an up-and-coming interior designer who I follow on a regular basis.  The design was inspired by a previous living room of hers.  I love how unique the quilt is, even though plus quilts are nothing new.  With the use of scale and stripes, this is a different take on the popular design, and I am so happy to introduce this design to my shop!

This quilt is now listed in my shop.

I hope you had a great weekend.  My quilt making will be slowing down here shortly, so I can focus on a few other things.  I'm just itching to do a home project, but after these few years of blogging, I am still struggling to find balance.  Trying to prioritize the things I need and want to do is so hard and frustrating.  Ha!  When Anna Griffin came to speak to us at Cricut in UT, I asked her was how she found balance in life.  She laughed and told me that didn't exist.  And when I asked Candice Olson last October how she balanced family, work, and life, she laughed too and told me that didn't exist.  Awesome.   My Cricut Explore should be here in a little over a week, and I am excited to try it out.  The few hours I had to use it in UT was not long enough!  Later next month, I am participating in Ellison Lane's Crafty Traveler Series.   It's a month long series that starts next week, so maybe you might want to join us.

What do you have going on?  How do you find balance in your life? Working on any home or sewing projects?  Let me know and include a link, so I can check it out.

Triangle "Fish" Quilt Finish

Do you ever see quilts that just make you happy?  This is one of those for me.  I love this quilt so much, and it will be really hard to part with.  I actually had this finished (minus the binding) July of 2013, but I ran into a personal hiccup that would only annoy me and no other person who would admire this quilt.  I will definitely be making more of these in the future.  It makes me THAT happy.

Psst -This quilt is listed in my Etsy shop.  Take $15 off if you purchase directly through me (email) and not through Etsy.

*My Instagram is private (just request to follow), but are you able to see my IG links that I sometimes provide in posts, even if you are not a follower or member of IG?  Just curious.

Etsy Find || Pigeon Toe

I stumbled upon Pigeon Toe this past Black Friday and was immediately drawn to its clean aesthetic.  I love the simplicity of their white ceramics yet striking designs.  There is something calming and peaceful about this shop, and I can already imagine where some of their pieces would go in my home.   Maybe we can convince them to make faceted drawer pulls too?  Pigeon Toe was a featured Etsy seller back in 2010, which you can read more about their shop.  All their products are made in Portland, Oregon.

All images belong to Pigeon Toe.

Fat Quarter Hexagon Clock || Tutorial

I was very fortunate to participate in U Create's Fat Quarter Series last month.  Today, I am sharing with you my DIY Hexagon Clock tutorial that uses only ONE fat quarter!

Did you know hexagons are the new chevrons?  Well, this timeless shape is used all the time in the quilting world, but hexagons are making their way into home decor.

I am sharing with you a different way to use a fat quarter, and how you can incorporate this trendy design into your space.  This project caters to those who hate to sew, are intimated to sew, or just do not have the money or space to acquire sewing tools.

This project can be made to look sophisticated, even minimalistic, or it can be fun and whimsical.  There can be many different variations whether it's the size of the hexagons, the amount of hexagons used, or the fabric itself that is being used.  Each variation can create a new look.

The going ons in Nancyville

I'm sure my name will never be included in a town, but, if there were a Nancyville, I'd like to live there.  Well, only under the conditions hot chocolate came out of faucets and Norman Reedus was my gardener.

But back to reality.  sigh.

Around the home:

I finally found out, and by accident too, what these yellow ball things were.  Billy balls.  Though my immature side chuckles inside every time I say Billy balls, I think they are the loveliest dead things ever.  Unless Norman dies.  He would be lovely dead too.

Well, I scooped myself up a few from Teresa's Plants & More on Etsy.  She even has a cool hanging glass globe like mine, which I shared with you here.  (And yes, I killed that freaking air plant.  seriously???)

I bought my very first orchid.  I feel very sorry this plant had to come home with me because I do not foresee a long future with it.  It's so pretty though, and I will thoroughly enjoy every moment it's in our home.

And the very last mention of flowers is the roses my husband gave me for Valentine's.  A week later and they are still going strong.

My kitchen is coming to a close.  Finally.  I have concluded I'm the world's slowest person to decorate her home, or maybe I'm normal?  Who knows, but I do know I so much closer to being done than I was a month ago.  There have not been too many changes, but it's still fun to have a before + after reveal post.  Don't you think?

An update with this photo:  I couldn't do it.  The art came down.  I'm sorry Owen.  I'm a bad mom. (Blogged here.)

I hung my "I'm Awesome" print, which I blogged about last week here.

My sewing room:

My scrap quilt is quilted and now needs to be bound and photographed before officially showing you all.  I'm in love guys.  So my affection goes in this order:  Jesus Christ, Matt, Owen, scrap quilt, and Norman.  I feel I learned a bit from this quilt, and now, I completely understand why people love quilts. I drag this thing around like it's my lovey.  I have snuggled with this quilt every night the last few days.

A custom quilt in the works for a customer:  Blue, yellow, green, gray, with a touch of orange

Another quilt top in the works using this line that I purchased from StashModernFabric on Etsy.  No pictures until I have the top finished in March.  Sorry!

And just life in general:

This photo is blurry, but it makes me happy.  This captures pure joy.

Have a good day y'all.

Pink Cheeks Studio

It's rare when I get really excited about an Etsy feature.  Have you heard of Pink Cheeks Studio?  This shop makes softies, mobiles, and pillows.  Nichol, the owner and designer behind Pink Cheeks Studio, is very talented with, what I am guessing, a great sense of humor.

All photos came from her Etsy shop and belong to Nichol Brinkman.   Please make sure to stop by!

This mobile is so freakin' adorable!  It makes me laugh too because you can look at these little monsters two ways.  Either the kid is dressed up as a monster or is being eaten by the monster.  You pick.

Pig ballerinas???  Love.  I tell Matt all the time that when we move to larger land, we WILL own a pig.  And that pig WILL live inside with us like a dog.

To visit her adorable shop, please click here.

On a side note, I wanted to let you know that I am participating in Sew Mama Sew's giveaway day this coming Monday.

Still not sure what I am making.

Still not sure how I am going to reach out to my two different kind of followers - the home design loving folks and the sew loving folks.

Yeah, yeah.  I know.  Sew something for the home, but this gal's heart just ain't into that at this particular moment.   Someone want to come over here and kick me in the hiney?

Have a good weekend!  It's going to be in the 60's.  Yeah, you can be jealous.

peaceout

pom poms in the kitchen

It is no mystery that I love pom poms.  They are so much fun to use and decorate with, whether it's for a party or just year round.  I love 'em, which is why I had to make another strand but for the kitchen instead.  I think this is all the color I need in my kitchen with my island.   This is one of those posts that photos don't really do it any justice.  It's really great in person.

I believe I have a hard time incorporating color into my home because I really love the simplistic look.  When I pin interiors, I tend to lean towards white everything.  BUT I am an artist too, so I find myself wanting some pops of color here and there.  Finding balance in my home that I am comfortable with is a difficult task!

I have plans to remove my Pier 1 painting and replace it with something graphic and possibly sophisticated to help balance out the poms.   Most likely, that painting will live on my bedroom wall since we have no art in there at the moment.  I moved my pear light (still loving it) to my hall bath, which gives off the warmest glow.  Just love it!  When it is on and I walk down the hall, I can't help but glance at it.  I also have been toying with idea to continue the chalkboard paint on that wall.  If you don't have a chalkboard wall in your home, it is so much fun!

I feel the pom poms brightened up my kitchen a little.  What do you think?

peaceout

PS- I had enough balls left over for an extra garland, so it's my shop.  I only have one available. Today is the last day to enter my giveaway.

the work of Jenn Ski

I discovered Jenn Ski awhile back, and I am not sure how I didn't know of her sooner!  If you love mod-century things, this illustrator is for you!  She also has a few fabric designs for Moda.

Check out her home studio!!  I love the clean look of white with lots of color and graphics.  I would love to work in this open, bright space.

Etsy { . . . }

Didn't know what to call this, so I thought an ellipses was appropriate.  I don't usually post on Saturdays, but today I wanted to.   It's raining, which makes for great internet shopping.  Here are a few things I pulled from my favorites.  Some items may have already sold. :(
