Spring is in the air!

Oh I'm so happy that it's Spring! This winter has seemed to just drag and drag! Though we still have some cooler days and a few snow flurries here and there, the weather is so nice! The snow in our backyard has finally melted and we can open the windows again! I've busted out my spring-scented candles (not quite as nice as the fall-scented ones, lovely as they are) and I'm just overall more chipper! Mostly more chipper...the only down side to the nice weather is that the neighbor kids break out their dirt bikes and ride them in the neighborhood until about 9:00 pm. That just so happens to be my bed time so that can get annoying. Also, the neighbor dog next door, a Chihuahua, is now almost totally an outside dog. He barks at anything and everything. "Yip yip yip yip!!!!" The combination of the windows open and the new spring noises can get a little, um, lame! Mostly I'm still chipper :)

The other day, I walked into a hotel for a work appointment. There was a gentleman standing outside of the door who worked for the hotel in some capacity. As I walked in he made an obvious stare at my bulging belly and said, "Spring is definitely in the air..." and I smiled and said, "yep" as I continued in. I thought to myself, "Um, ok, why are you commenting on the weather after staring at my belly?" Then I realized that he was probably referring to the whole Spring/New Life/Babies correlation. While not offensive in the least bit, I had to laugh to myself. Everyone seems to feel the inclination to comment on my current "status". While it's nice to know that they don't think I'm just overdoing the donuts, I wonder what makes everyone so inclined to comment at all? It's not as though I have 2 heads or something. I'd probably get fewer comments if I were in a wheel chair or a littler person or something. Again, I'm not offended, just find the incessant need people seem to have to make some kind of comment in general, very intriguing.

Things are going well on the baby front. Baby O is moving a lot! He probably has always moved a lot, but now I can feel most of them. When he really gets going, you can see it from the outside! I love to see that! It makes me such a proud mama to see my boy kicking so strong. However, these strong kicks have taken to areas like my bladder - those aren't as exciting as some of the others.

Ross was gone all last week on a business trip and I'm so happy to have him back! I missed him a lot while he was gone and I'm so happy that I've got him here with me. It makes me really thankful that he isn't in a job that would make him gone all of the time or for extended periods of time.

Here's the latest picture of the belly. Please forgive the fact that I had not yet showered and/or gotten ready so my hair is a little on the embarrassing side. I've also not got any makeup on, so again, excuse the unkempt appearance. This is at 21 weeks, 3 days (22 weeks according to ultrasound).

March Madness

Hi friends! I have been lacking in my posting lately so I'll try to keep this short but interesting. ha! (that actually won't happen...it'll be long and mildly entertaining).

Well, today I am 26. I realize that in the grand scheme of things, 26 is not a big deal. However, I am having a hard time with the fact that I'm quickly approaching 30. I think that once I actually turn 30, I might have a mental break down. I don't know what the deal is with 30 but it just seems like it means I'm almost 40 or something. Yes, yes, all of you who are older and wiser may laugh now at my naiveté. This weekend, I got to celebrate with some great family moments, one of which was the Melting Pot with my mom, step-dad and brother.
We had a long weekend but it was nice! We saw our friends Crista and Jordan on Friday night and had some great food at Mountain Sun in Boulder...mmmm Junk Burger! On Saturday I had my acupuncture/chiropractic adjustment. That was interesting because I had to have the acupuncture sitting up and the chiropractic standing up. We then had lunch with Ross' folks and his grandma and had a great time. Then I went to a baby consignment sale in Denver. I got to see my friend Jessica who is due like 5 days before me and I hadn't seen her since the summer so it was SO great to see her! Saturday night was the Melting Pot and Sunday was brunch with Dad and Step-mom. It was a lovely weekend!

Here is my latest belly picture. 19 weeks and 4 days. I am feeling a big growth spurt coming on though, I'm exhausted all the time and eating like crazy!

I'm feeling this boy move like crazy - well most days. Ross has been able to feel him kick too! It's been so exciting! I can't believe that he's not even a pound, at least as far as I know, and he feels so strong! I'm a proud mama. My brother even was able to feel it this weekend! He was excited too and I'm glad. I'm excited to know that he's growing and getting stronger. We have another appointment on Thursday and we'll have another ultrasound. I'm excited to have another one of course!

After we found out that we're having a boy, Ross and I did some shopping and got a few pieces of clothing :) I took some pictures of what we got because they're sooo cute!

It's a...

BOY!

Our appointment went really well. I'm 18 weeks today which is a little early to have the ultrasound for this point in the pregnancy. Baby Boy was sitting indian style sort of parallel to me with his bottom down and head up toward my head. So the ultrasound was kind of tough because we only were getting profile pics and because he was cross-legged. The doctor tried to move him a bit by pressing on my tummy and it was kind of freaky to see his head move accordingly. I was thinking, "aah! don't hurt him!" He moved a little bit but no big drastic movements until...
If you need a translation...

Titles and descriptions courtesy of Ross.

So, the doctor said with 99% certainty (in his words) that he's sure it's a boy. Ross is very sure! I believe them both!

Other notes - AAAHHHHHH! I'm excited :-)
-- I have to go back in 2 weeks for another ultrasound. Because I'm only 18 weeks instead of 20, the doctor couldn't see all of the things he wanted to, eg: facial features, brain, heart, etc. Things that he'll check for development, deformities, etc. He said things look great for 18 weeks but he wants to see more. Fine by me, that means I get to see baby move an extra time!
-- I asked about laying on my back. Every book I have read says "no laying on your back!!!!" Every morning I wake up on my back and it's the most comfortable position! He said that it's an old wives tale pretty much and that it's not a bit deal. He mentioned that when he first started in that practice, tons of women would come in and ask that question. I think he finally asked a patient, "where are you coming up with these crazy questions?" Well, he then learned that it's in the book that his practice provides to patients on their first visit! HAHAHA! I thought that was hilarious! And I'm glad that I can lay on my back.
-- My doctor is leaving the practice! What??? Well thank goodness he told me! I guess I'll get a letter asking if I want to stay with this current practice or if I want to stay with him. Well duh! I want to stay with him! I just hope his new practice will be a provider for my insurance!
-- I am now exhausted! I was such a kid about this appointment and so excited that I didn't sleep well and now I'm exhausted!

That being said, here's the other picture from today. More to come later ;-D Enjoy our growing, strapping young man!
