On a whim

Friday on trek for the Scout store MY LB called and asked if we wanted to go camping. I thought it sounded like fun and I couldn't wait until Friday. Only it was Friday and now I am freaking out. YIKES, I have to go to the Scout store, stop at Toys R Us (as promised) and get home in time to pack for camping.

IT'S ALL GOOD..............
Fire restrictions that we were not expecting so raw hot dogs for dinner.
Just kidding!! We brought our camping stove. THANK GOODNESS!
By the way watching Kendal eat that made me want to PUKE.
We had to hike a hill to find a sunny spot (kind of sunny) to eat our breakfast. Of course after we were done eating we had to explore.
Spencer was a crazy tree climber (scary actually). I followed him up this particular tree and a very eager Kendal stood under saying "up". Like brother like sister.
Interesting fact about Matthew, he eats grasshoppers. Just kidding he actually just catches them. He is very good at it and I am not quite sure that this is a talent but if it is he is a very talented grasshopper catcher. However if we are talking spiders, NOT SO MUCH. The night before this we were all sitting around the camp stove (not to be confused with camp fire) and a spider ran over his foot. Not being to helpful his dad said he thought it looked like a tick. So for the rest of the night we watched Matthew try to keep his feet off the ground (even when he was walking). Of course we laughed to which he replied, "what do you want me to get Lime Disease or something". Where on Earth did he hear about Lime Disease?
Kendal was calling for the dogs to come. The dogs better known as Coyotes. She could hear them but she couldn't see them so she kept patting her little legs and saying, "here doggie, here doggie". Thank goodness they were not obedient mutts.
Geocache
What a fun treasure hunt! MY LB downloads these little treasure hunts on his GPS and we go on an adventure. When you find the treasure you write down your name, take something and then leave something. ARRGH, we love treasure mates!
We also found time to fish. Just for the record fishing with four kids NOT EASY. Matthew caught the only two fish and they were GIGANTIC, well as far as a good fish story goes they were.
Kudos to MY LB for acting on his camping whim. I love you my nutty Outdoors man!

Tradition

Every Memorial Day we spend the morning with the Mecham family. First we visit the grave sight of daddy's grandma May Mecham. It is such a peaceful event. There are always about 15 to 20 family members present and we gather around her grave sight and hear stories about May and my favorite part is when we all sing Families Can Be Together Forever. The Spirit is so strong and bears testimony of the truthfulness of the words that are being sung.
Afterwards we all head over to Grandpa Mecham's house for a pancake breakfast. My LB has so many cousins it is fun to catch up and watch our kids bond.
After pancakes we walk across the street to the ward building and play Volleyball.
Oh how we love TRADITION!

Yum!

Here it the sad truth about the Mechams.
We have an addiction! A summer addiction to..........

We just can't help ourselves it is the essence of summer time for us. Blanket in the backyard with watermelon and family memories.

Oh it TASTES like summer!

Hello To Honesty

Well sometimes we all know that the big "TRUTH" word hurts but wow this time I think it left a mark. OUCH!

The other day I was sitting on the couch watching a movie with Matthew, Spencer and Maggie. I looked over and noticed Spencer sitting all cute and cuddly at the end of the couch and I went and sat by him. I told him I wanted some "Mother Lovings" and he crawled into my lap and we started to cuddle.

After sometime I asked, "Why don't you cuddle me anymore?" His reply was, "You have Kendal to cuddle now." WHAT? Have I only been cuddling the BABY? I didn't mean for it to be like that. Well here is a great lesson to learn from the GREATEST 6 year old I know.

This boy is and has always been 100% devoted to the baby that took his mommy cuddles away. If only we all could love like this!

How could I have ever known that this was the way that he felt when he has so much love to overlook it and be the best big brother a Kendal could ever know.

Another Preschool Year Gone

Greetings from Miss Christy. It has been such a great year of preschool! I have watched some incredible kiddos grow and learn in fantastic ways. As excited as I am about how much they learn there are always lessons along the way that I learn from them. I am the luckiest lady to get to know and have SO many friends. I will miss all of them!
