A Child's Prayer

We've been working to help Lucy avoid repetition in her prayers lately. She is sincere in her words, but typically says the same (or close to the same) things every time.

Prior to our family prayers we all take turns mentioning things we're particularly grateful for. Tonight was no different. When we finished, Wes called on Lucy to say the prayer, but just as she drew breath to plunge into her memorized monologue he said, "and do you think you can remember to thank Heavenly Father for all the things we said we're grateful for? There was a nod of agreement followed by bowed heads:

“Dear Heavenly Father, we’re thankful for this day. Did you hear the things we said? So…you can remember them. We ask thee to…(follows: Lucy's traditional prayer)”

Amen.

The Most Queenly Role

Lucy has a certain habit when it comes to pretend play:

She dons dresses, jewels, and various forms of finery fit for a queen, but then, instead of strutting around a pretend castle or attending an imaginary ball, she gathers and cares for all her babies.

Because, isn't that what beautiful women do?

I hope she never forgets what she appears intrinsically to know.

Happy Date Night!

Gotta mix it up a little every once in a while.

Lucy (looking RADIANT in her choice of pink pearls & black heel shoes) + Daddy, off for an evening of entertainment and fun!

Mom + Spencer (who is one cute nude dude), ready for exclusive bath time and as much Old McDonald's farm as a guy can handle!

Growing

Grandpa's garden boasts many a productive plant.

We have only one.
But he is beloved.

I'll let Lucy introduce you to Abednegoin her own words:

YUM.
Love you, Abednego. And love you, little gardener.

Last Week,

President Monson delivered the Tuesday devotional address. He told delightful, instructive stories about & memories of past church presidents.

They were all wonderful.

But my favorite was a snippet about President Kimball who, upon realizing that he would shortly need to use his cluttered office to meet with parents of missionaries, rushed to clean up by shuffling a stack of papers into his closet, stacking others on his secretary's desk...

"And then," President Monson related, "he picked up that big stack of papers he usually carried [around with him] and stuck it in the refrigerator."

"It was the only place left."

If You Were King for A Day

What would you do?
Would you go to the ZOO?

If you were king for a day, what would you eat?
Would avocados be your chosen treat?

(with key lime cream cheese cupcakes for dessert, of course.)

If you were king for a day, what would you play?
A crazy game where doggies "bark," and silly donkeys "bray"?

And if you were king, would you want to be treated
to presents, and "boooo!" (balloons)......and family all seated
surrounding your chair, watching you smile,

content just to stay and be with you a while?

Is that what you'd want if you were king for a day?
Well, our man-cub sure seemed to like it that way!
