IT'S TIME

Okay,
So I realize that not being a blood Johnson may not qualify me for this post. But honestly, I don't care. Something has to be done... and so you'll have to excuse the fact that it is someone married into the family to do it.

It has come time for there to be a new/reunited Johnson family band.
I know some of you are thinking that your life won't allow it right now - but really... is there ever going to be a "perfect" time to do this? I say, no. You have to make time for those things that enrich your life.

Whenever I have the honor of sitting in that circle of music I get so inspired and yet, anxious. Maybe for some of you, singing/playing together once every few months is just enough for you.
But, for those of you that feel you could use a little more music in your lives... here's the official invite.

I understand that starting this in the summer is somewhat of a pipe dream.
So, starting the first week of September we would like to invite you to our home every other Thursday evening for band practice. If Thursdays turn out to be bad for too many than we'll work it out. I realize with so many different schedules we won't find a perfect time. If we start though, I'm sure that we'll figure something out ... whether that means you can come to every practice or not.

I believe this will also be a good time for the cousins to see each other as well. I understand it might not be every practice that we'll be able to handle numerous children running around. But, I think letting it happen once in awhile will make for some great memories for them and us.

I know that several family members have odds and ends of musical equipment (as we do).
If we combine efforts we could be in pretty good shape.

I'm hoping there will be a good spread in people who would like to participate. And maybe, you would allow me the honor of singing a few licks every now and again.

SO- now is the time to throw in your 2 cents. Are you up for the challenge and the blessings?

**as I am writing this Ben is having his gallbladder removed...this will be a fun thing to report to him afterwards**

Congratulations Lynda!!!

For those of you who don't know, Lynda's book "Sharlie" received an IPPY Award (Independent Publishers Book Award) in the Fantasy/Science Fiction category. Here's a link to the results page. http://www.independentpublisher.com/article.php?page=1231&urltitle=Announcing%202008%20Independent%20Publisher%20Book%20Awards%20Results

I think it is so wonderful that the Johnson's have such amazing talent...but alot of humility comes with it. So I'm sorry Lynda for "tattling" but we are so proud of you. Good job!

We'll see most of you for the 4th. Sounds like a lot of fun!

Get better Madi, we're praying for your fast recovery.

Love to you all,
Rhonda and Steve

Hello from the David Johnsons

Hi everybody,

I've loved reading your posts. There's not a lot of new news around our house, but I want you all to know that I think about you a lot, and I hope we can all get together this summer for picnics and things "just because".

Can we start thinking about Mother's Day/Dad's birthday? Any way we could have a big picnic Sunday afternoon/evening or something?

We're looking forward to seeing Ryan in a week. And Steph will be home for a few weeks in May. Erik is busy this week with a "Skills USA" competition. Yesterday he and his team placed 2nd in the state "Quizbowl" competition. He says it's no big deal, there were only five teams competing - he's definitely got the Johnson humility gene. The competition was at Boise State. Today he's doing a video editing competition.

Erik is planting his first garden this year, with some advice from Grandma J. He's always wanted to, and I just realized we only have a few years left to help him do that, so we're going to cut a place out in the yard and hopefully make the soil good with Grandma's help. He's going to start this weekend.

Steph is finishing up her school year-one more to go. She got a full scholarship for next year, the only one offered in her program, so we are really happy for her. She's also the new Vice President of the student branch of the Music Therapy Association for the Northeast. She's applying for an internship in Sacramento next year. She's got a busy summer planned, some of it here in Idaho, and her best friend Razi is going to spend some time here, too.

It looks like Ryan might be moving to Idaho Falls in a year, if all goes well, and he'll finish his PhD from there. It would be great to have him live close to Tim and Amy-he's got some details to work out, but the offer has been made and he's excited about the possibility.

David is enjoying his new career, which takes a lot of creativity and working with architects and things, and since building is in his blood I think he's really loving it. He's constantly on the phone or the computer or dashing out to meetings. His office is at home, and we enjoy seeing him more - it's been a good life change for us.

We've been working hard to get the yard in shape. Erik said I hacked all the bushes, and I need to stop because they're probably dead now - I told him he shouldn't hold back, he should tell me how he really feels. Hopefully they'll grow back - they always do.

That's about it from the Johnsons!

Love you,

Lynda
